Dave, I agree that rick & crew will give help if asked. But I also think that sometimes they should pull certain individuals aside & offer them help even if they dont ask for it. Remember MR Saddlebags at RA? That guy needed some instruction. Instead we come off that track & all we hear is "you all look great". No we didnt, some of the group was pretty good & some of the group was pretty bad. Take a few of the wanderers & explain to them about the importance of holding your line.

Thats my only complaint with them...they are a bit too nice.: D

Yeah, I'll give you that one. Mr SB was a menace to everyone on the track, he was in the wrong group.

Hey all,
Not really from Wisconsin, But Im headed for a Family reunion in Spetember and trying to decide wether it would be worth it to drive out and bring my S1 along. I'm gonna be in the Lake Geneva Elkhorn area. Any suggestions or any one from around there?

active Buell community (with pretty draned nice roads in the area) . . .. more traffic on Brew City and Uke's pages . . . .. .

I'd say bring the S1! September is one of the nicest times of year out here . . .I think you'll enjoy yourself

Ok, who's in charge if this topic anyways?

I would have to say judging by the turnout from yesterdays ride that the sewer concept may be starting to take root. Seems a few of the locals are disenchanted with the political bs revolving around Brag & just wanna ride. Why pay $$ to ride with people you are friends with anyways?

We had folks from several different chapters as well as tho who arent associated with any that came along. All about the riding & nothing in regards to who is in charge or any of that silly stuff.

I know I can honestly say that yesterdays ride was one of the best I have ever been on for 2 reasons.

#1..we had a completely different destination that wasnt even bike related but we could all enjoy equally.

#2..It was just about friends riding & hanging out.

It was a lot like what I had originally thought both Brag & HOG would be like, but unfortunately there are far too many head games & just plain power trips within those groups & that takes away from the fun of it all.

Lets do more rides & events like this. I still think a night of everyone getting together & bowling or hell maybe even a golf outing would be great.

Dyna...At least you grasp the concept of NonDenominational Destination Rides. No politics, no BS...Just fun.

Dennis had a great idea concerning Sewer. He just didn't have the time to develop it. A few of us tried to make it work, but the enthusiasm just wasn't there at the time. It was right after the Buell 20th and Harley's 100th and folks were still coming down from the excitement.

Perhaps now it the time to get the concept going again and you and your friends just may be the one's to do it.
Good luck!

I thought SEWER died because the riding season gave way to winter, just needs to be revived now that we can ride again.

I think the idea is a great one (non-brand specific riding groups), but the idea of a "destination" ride, while not bad in and of itself was not part of the original intent . . . I know lots of folks LIKE the ideas of "destination rides," but experience tells me that few are willing to put them together . . . .

at any rate, speaking for myself and which ever of my multiple personalities is awake, for me, it's about the riding . . . . tours of facilities, bowling and golfing hold little interest for me . . . . . .

I'll be glad to help plan a couple of SEWER rides (perhaps we could consider the Wildcat Mtn run a Sewer Event, even tho we'd be boosting it from Brew City?)

glad you guys had a great experience . . . .

Perhaps the word "Destination" is a poor choice.

The Lambeau Field and Wildcat Mtn rides are definitely destination rides as they are group rides from Point A to Point B and back and a considerable amount of time is spent at Point B for whatever reason.

I guess my question is what would you call a ride where folks from all over converge on a meeting place, go for a ride in that area and then head back on their respective routes?

The Slimey Crud and PDC runs are good examples of this. I guess I just mistakenly thought of meeting points as Destinations primarily because not everyone is commuting from the same starting point (Point A).

Speaking just for myself the thought of riding 2-3-4 hrs to a place with decent roads & then just riding some more holds no allure for me. I would rather there be an actual destination, but thats just me.

There isnt a lot of personal interaction between anyone..kinda hard when you are all on different bikes & doing 70+.

got it . . .we are all speaking of similar things, I believe, with slightly differing terminology . . . .

at any rate -- I'm game for riding (although pounding up the slab doesn't do much for me)

What sucks is that sometimes you have to take the "slab" just to get to the good areas. Oh sure you can take the side routes but then it takes 3 times as long & cuts into your riding time in the area you were headed to. Plus if you only have a limited amount of time then you do what you need to.

Im meeting kelly from the Borg & we are going to do Starved rock. I have to slab it for about 100 miles to make any time at all.

Ideas for SEWER destination rides:

Wolf River rafting trip (a little over 3 hours from Milwaukee)

Wildcat Mountain canoe day (about the same as above)

Monroe or Middleton brewery tours (don't need to drink to enjoy the tours)

Wisconsin Dells (go-carts, mini-golf, etc)

Those are just a few ideas for day trips.

starved rock is a great area, Greg . . . lots of good roads, though be very wary near/in the State Parks -- like most states, Illinois is in the red, fiscally, and is very happy to generate revenue from rapidly travelling vehicals!

Ok, since nobody wants to grab the bull by the horns, I guess I will.

House on the Rock ride Aug 14th. We can meet at Ukes or someplace near Milwaukee, it makes no difference to me. I dont see any reason to have CJ or Kinger or anyone else from the north having to trek down here just so we can ride back up their way.

Route will be drawn up & it may end up looking like a route a drunken donkey would take but so what? Is anyone in a huge hurry to get anywhere?

Post here if interested & I will contact The House to see if we could get a group discount. Even if we dont, I dont care.

The Slimey Crud Run this Sunday

Who's going for sure?
Which way are you coming in from?
Want to meet up with other heading in from the same direction?

Our plan is the same. Leave Appleton at 8:30 sharp, ride to the Starbucks in Madison on the south side, Monona Dr exit(about a block north on Monona, on your right hand side) we plan to be there at 10:30. We will leave at 11:00 to ride out to Pine Bluff, eta is 11:30-12:00

Probably hang out in Pine Bluff for 1 hour and then head to Leland.

I will be packing some Buell product CDs for those of you that don't already have one and to hand out to the unsuspecting!

So, one last time, who's going?
Who's meeting us in Madison?
Who's meeting us in Pine Bluff?
Who's meeting us in Leland?

Please go to the thread in the Quickboard to reply.

PS
There are still openings for the track day at Blackhawk on Monday the 4th.
Call me if you're interested.

Dave
