Attention Buells in the Alps (BITA) attendees. In lieu of meeting at Little Switzerland this year, we are going to meet with the former Buell/EBR Tail of the Dragon Ride group. Last year, they moved their meet location to Mountain City, TN, along the road known as the Snake. They enjoyed it so much, they invited us this year. Just like Little Switzerland, there are plenty of other great roads in the area. Info on the meet is provided below:

Yup. TN421 (The Snake) between Holston Lake and Mountain City is wonderful. Low traffic volume and generally in great condition. Stop at the country store in Strawberry Valley for a cold one, run both sides of 421, then turn around and run it again. TN321 to Watauga Lake is another good romp. A bit further afield, try NC194 from 321/Vilas to Banner Elk, a richey-rich little town to stop for lunch and people watch. Even further west, hit TN 143/NC261 between Roan Mountain and Bakersville. Once in Bakersville, jog on 226A to 80 south almost all the way to I-40. NC221 between Blowing Rock and Linville is good but gets crowded with touristas. If you get bored with the offerings to the south, take Denton Valley Rd from TN421 (just before you cross the lake) toward Abingdon VA, then run the north end of VA80 from Meadowview to Elk Garden. VA80 is named Hayter's Gap--worth the trip! | ||
