This is with the Iron Butt Association (https://www.ironbutt.org/) which is a long distance motorcycling organization. I've been wanting to attempt their Saddlesore 1000 ride for years and then this group ride came up. This is 1000 miles in 24 hours. It is not a race, but a test of endurance and consistency. This ride is supporting Operation Homefront, which is a non-profit supporting military families. It is being held on June 3, 2022 and has starting points all over the eastern side of the US. I'm starting at Dulles, VA. The group from Dulles, VA will ride from there to Hell, MI, then to Knoxville, TN where all of the groups converge. With the completion/certification of this ride, you will receive the full monty package for completing a certified Saddlesore 1000. If you register before April 12th you will get the special rider's edition shirt, but you can register through May 27th and get the standard shirt. Link is on the site. Hope to see the Buell count go up! Right now, I'm the only Buell in the group of 148 registered participants. I'll be riding my 2007 XB12X Ulysses. We left a bit early to go have some fun in lieu of the group rides (we decided we'd had enough of those after 1000+ miles...). We hit the dragon and a few fun loops around that area, and are still on our way back to Wisconsin.
