I am curious however as the motor only has an abbreviated serial number. Assuming, and I do, that you are correct, I could not buy a complete bike, sans engine, and get a WI title. Just out of curiousity, if you had ONLY then engine how would you get the VIN for the title? | ||

I'm curious now too. If I swap the engines in the '95 and '00 do I then have to get the titles corrected? If I get a junked bike with engine and put the rebuilt engine from the junked bike into a current bike do I have to then get the title adjusted? | ||

Court, it gets screwy when it comes to buying stuff from multiple states. Since some states require the VIN/Titile to go with the Motor, and others, the frame. All I really know is, in WI, it goes with the motor. The reason I wanted that frame was there are a butload of XBs being totaled, with minimal frame damage. And I want an XB12S!  Hell it's just feeding my addiciction ya know MikeJ, I really don't know the answer to your question. I'll ask my brother. One of the R&D boys at HD should know I bet. | ||

Steve....I was told the opposite when working on my S1W. If I wanted to title the bike as a Buell S1W, I needed the title to match the frame. I could title as a custom using a bill of sale from the frame and the title from the motor. Dennis | ||

I thought the VIN/Title went with the frame. When I had to look at replacing my car's engine, the DMV told me that the frame is what was important | ||

hey rocket Ive been down hwy 33to LaCrosse it is a very fun road and you dont need any brakes just gears. Sounds like a fun ride and I know LaCrosse like the back of my hand. My poor bike, sitting all alone in the garage Then get out there and ride it, you weenie! It's supposed to be a sweltering 37 tomorow! I still gotta ride my bike to hals to get the swingarm recall done. And as luck would have it, the last time I was riding the S3, I noticed the shock leaking, and leaving a nice puddle under the bike. Luckily the bike came with a brand spankin' new shock So hals gets to put that on when they do the swingarm |
