Hey John, I'm not trying to take away from the cycle shop just putting my $.02 in. Findlay stocks Metzeler's that fit ore bikes they have them on the shelf. With warehouses in So Cal And northern NV, Any good local shop can get most tires they don't have in 2 days.

Hey guys... I bought the tires from Cycle Gear on Decatur. I saved $80.00 on the set even below Cycle Shop and Findlay. NOw... HArley wants close to $200 to mount and balance them if they have to do it on the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a crock of sheite! Soo now I am trying to pull the discount thing and see what happens.

Nick, Did you try Henderson H-D, or Findlay. Of course you usually get a better install price when you buy the tires from the shop installing them. If you decide to pull the wheels yourself I have a swing arm stand you can borrow if you like, Pat has a pit-bull stand to lift the front wheel, I don't know that they will work on an XB, but you are welcome to them.

Jake, Owen did you guys meet with LVHD today?

Nick,
When I bought my Dunlops, I took my bike to Racers Edge, I believe that is what it is called. They charged me $35 per tire. Still better than HD. Check it out. See ya.....

ALright guys.. this sucks.. but I am out for Sunday. We'll be bring the cage. May meet at McD's none the less. While they were changing the back tire, they found out that the back bearings had frozen to the axle and damaged it and the bearings. So it will be Wednesday before the new parts show up. Just in time for Kingman!!
See ya later,
Nick

Ok everyone; Owen and myself had our meeting last night. Sorry for not posting sooner but real tired from work. Any way hear goes:

I talked to Jeff at LVHD and it was real positive. He is very impressed with all that we have done so far on our own. He told me that once all the paper work is done at the dealership it will take a few more months to get a charter. He is looking at March to April at the latest. We talked about what Nick and John talked about and a few other things. I talked about dealer demos, discounts on parts, the purchasing of new bikes, parts support ie common wear items, the dealer involvement in the club. All in all he was very receptive to what Owen and I had to say and he also gave good feed back. The parts thing was big on Owens list. What Jeff had to say was when things start rolling along we can put together a list of things that we would like to see them keep in stock and they might beable to do that for us. Again it has to be in reason. Dealer demos is very possible and we as a club will be giving first dibs on that. Also track days are on the table and very feesible. Discounts on routine service and the like.

Everybody: Jeff would like us to meet at HHD in Jan. on the 9th. That is a Sunday. He wants us to meet with the powers that be over there. This way they can be up to speed on what we want and the like. Any way we can chat more on this later. Do not forget 9am on 11th HHD 9:30am roll out.

Dan: Wow... sorry to hear about that! I lost mine when I was 6, so I din't really remember much about that. Good luck on the repairs!

Hey Mike,

What were those tricks on getting the clutch cover screws off? I'm thinking about trying a brand new bit before I drill them out, but if you've got any other ideas I'm definitely open to hear them.

Trick 1. The first one I use which works for me almost every time, is to use a hammer to tap the next size larger torx bit (Socket) in to the screw head. If you need a torx bit socket call me Then if it doesn't want to come loose and feels like it is going to round out again, I will put some heat to it (pro[pane, Butane, or heat gun) and use a hand impact (the type you smack with a hammer).

Trick 2. Use a punch or small chisel and tap the screw head in a counterclockwise direction be careful not to slip and scratch the cover. Last Resort. If you have to Drill, use a left-handed drill bit (can be bought at some hardware stores and good tool suppliers). Drilling counter clockwise can sometimes back the screw out, if not at least you can try and comfort yourself with the thought while drilling your hole you weren't making the screw tighter, and might of even loosened it some. Make sure you stop drilling right after you get through the end of the screw. I'm not sure if the blast clutch cover screw holes are blind, or go all the way through.

If you want me to come out to your place and help give me a call, I could possibly get free tonight, if you need, or Monday. Let me know I can always try to work around your schedule.

Hey Nick don't feel to bad, if the weather guys are right you, and your wife might be the only dry ones in the group.

Mike

Mike:

Clever! I hadn't thought about that first one. It'd be cool if you wanted to help, but I'm out in the Springs, so it's not exactly a fun thing. I have this week off though from work, so I'm just going to school in the mornings and then heading home from Vegas, so one day if you feel like cruising out here this week let me know, like a day you already have open, I don't want to be an inconvenience : ) and if not, no biggie. Thanks for the tips, I'll try 'em out Monday!
