Looks like Mike and Lynn have been hard at work. They’ve redone the paving in front with stamped/dyed concrete and generally spruced up the front.

Just realized I had the dates wrong on this- dates should be Friday July 23 thru Sunday July 25. Hopefully that doesn’t screw up your reservations.

Thread title fixed thanks to Froggy!

In case you haven't been before, the meet is held at the Skyline Village Inn, located smack in the middle of some of North Carolina's best twisty roads, including NC 226A (aka "the Diamondback"), NC 226, NC 80 (aka "the Devil's Whip") and it's within easy riding distance of the Dragon, the Snake, and several other named roads. If you want a more leisurely ride, the Blue Ridge Parkway is ~100 yards away. See videos below for rides on the local roads.

This meet is very loosely organized; show up (all makes welcome, 2, 3, or 4 wheels), grab a few other riders, and head out riding. In the evening hang out at the hotel deck and enjoy a cold brew with a good meal while enjoying one of the best mountain views in the area. We usually try to have one semi-organized ride on Saturday morning. There are several destinations that make good out-and-back group rides.

Contact info for the hotel:
Skyline Village Inn & Cavern Tavern
12255 NC Highway 226A
Between Spruce Pine & Little Switzerland, NC
Phone 828-765-9394

http://www.skylinevillageinn.com

To get a discount, reservations for the meet are best made by phone.

It's a funky little hotel that was built back in the 40's. The current owners, Mike and Lynn Thrift, have restored it and are really nice people. The hotel has some really interesting history behind it. It has a good restaurant, and a store with the best beer selection for ~50 miles. Room rates vary from about $80/night to $120/night depending on what location you want (balcony or not) and what discounts you can get. Pets are allowed. Tell them you're with the Buell meet and they'll give you a decent discount.

Covered motorcycle parking is provided in back. If you don't have a bike or don't want to ride it, Mike has a fleet of rental motorcycles so that's a great option. He also has some tools and a motorcycle trailer and he’s glad to help out stranded riders in case anyone has an issue.

If you prefer camping, the Bear Den Campground is a few miles away. Here’s their website: https://www.beardenmountainresort.com/

Post up or PM me if you have any questions.

Hughlysses

Mike Strong (Twig) will be arriving Thursday as well. A couple of guys are riding up around noon on Saturday to go to for a ride to lunch if anyone’s interested.

We usually get at least one unannounced attendee, so maybe someone else will show up.

We are sitting on the deck awaiting steak preparations. Trip in went well. Detoured to come up on 80.

Seen today near Spruce Pine. Not sure if they omitted a comma or an apostrophe.

Let's hope the apostrophe was the omission.
GO BUELLS!!

Riding through Chesnee on the way home we spotted one bike parked there near Main Street and one old bike headed in from the south.
Appears it didn't happen this year??

I saw some discussion about it on Facebook. There seemed to be confusion about the dates, so maybe it’s actually happening next weekend.

Maybe so. Their slogan on the banner does read 'ALWAYS THE LAST WEEKEND IN JULY'

Well, BITA 11 is over, we’re back home and not yet recovered. (Man, I have GOT to start working out again).

We had 4 full event attendees (including me) and 3 riders that showed up for lunch Saturday. The weather was mostly great for the whole week and especially the weekend, although some of the guys ran through a hard, short rain Saturday afternoon.

I was slacker than usual this year; no t-shirts, caps or stickers AND I forgot the requisite Buells and EBR banners to display outside. Hopefully I’ll do better next year.

Thanks to all who came up; I hope to see you again next year.

Here are a few highlights from the weekend:

View of NC-226 from the Skyline Village Inn overlook:

Twig, Jamie04 and my bikes at the intersection of NC-80 and the BRP after our ride up the Devil’s Whip:

There are actually 5 Buells (4 Uly’s and an M2) in this photo taken near the Switzerland Inn:

Photos from the Jaguar Concours show at the Switzerland Inn on Saturday:

A few cars not in the show but equally interesting:

A couple of oldies spotted down the street at the post office later in the day:
