Piston rod snapped and in the half of a second that it took me to hit the kill switch, every up stroke punched a whole somewhere in the case. I now have 6 to 7 holes, some visible from the outside, some go down into the transmission case. The inside shows no reason the rod broke. 2007 XB12R with 25000 miles with very few mods and never tracked... ridden hard on the street on occasion but not tracked. Anyone heard of this happening before? There goes my summer riding season. | ||

Sorry to hear about this problem. Glad you did not have accident. Hope you get fixed soon. Sounds like it is going to take some major parts. I have never heard of this before. | ||

I have to say that I'm considering a demo ride of a Diavel (trading in my H-D Street Bob). I worry that I won't fit the bike (I'm 6'3") that I think is extremely cool, and has better safety features than an old Harlie has (though I'll miss it). | ||

Hey, I've been away from the site for a while...hope all is well. Getting ready for a new season. I am doing more and more track days, and less street riding. If anyone is interested in trying a track day, send me a message. I am helping with Motorcycle Xcitement this year. Motorcyclexcitement.com. First track day for the area is April 26th at Summit Point Raceway. Battley's will be at the track with the new EBR and Motus bikes. Possible test rides. | ||

hmmm....recurring thought in my admittedly challenged brain..."need to do more track days". I'd definitely want to slot into "amateur/beginner" class, but could bring a tuber, XB, or 1125. Actually have a nice '01 M2 with USD forks and complete Buell race kit that I built specifically to use on track - it was "her" bike, so I don't give a rats ass if I wreck it lol. Ok...this weekend is my last ride at Summit Point until late September. I am coaching with Roger Lyle's Motorcycle Xcitement. Shenandoah Circuit Sunday...Summit Main Circuit on Monday. Ratbuell, Oops...sorry. Just getting a chance to read. One or two piece leather suits are ok. Two piece needs to zip together. Roger also has leather suits to rent. Occasionally, he may let some of the higher tech textile suits on the track. Leather is preferred. Next track date is August 15/16 at NC Bike (just inside NC border, off of I95.). We are back to Summit Point August 28/29. (I have to miss those dates) After that... September 20/21 at Summit Point. I have a great coupon offer for the first Buell rider to come ride the track. | ||

4 generations of Buells together last Saturday for a fall ride. Tony on his S1, Rick on his ULY, Paul on his S2, and Brian (me) on my 1125r. Met up in Columbia, MD and ended in Sheperdstown, W. VA and then back to Columbia. Hit every 2 lane road and small town in between. A great ride with the leaves at full color. Tony led us on some great twisty roads! |
