Bridge to A Cure Ride in San Francisco!

This is going to be a big annual event, much like the Love Ride in Los Angeles.

It happens October 22nd starting in the Presidio near Golden Gate Park and goes to Sears Point for music, food, and other entertainment.

More details can be found at your local Harley-Davidson/Buell Dealer or by going to this temporary web site until we can get the final one up and running.

Anybody in the south bay/san jose area open for a mid _weekday_ putt let me know. Lunch at Alices, Scruz or wherever and home kind of thing.

Maybe a monthly/bi-monthly ride?

I'm pretty flexible with a couple of days or so notice in advance.

Ping me at frederick@fortune2.com

Fred,

I live in San Jose, and would be up for a ride almost any time. I just got my X-1 back from Santa Cruz this afternoon, and it is running pretty well now also.

I always like a ride up to Alices, or Lindseys on Highway 17.

ASBN Monday Night in Dublin!

Here is the plan for a ride up from San Joser.

Curt Relick and I like to meet at the Union 76 Station on Calavaras Blvd. and Highway 680 at 4PM. We ride the back roads up to Dublin, and avoid the cagers on the superslab.

Next Monday a couple of people are meeting me at San Jose Harley at 3:30, and then we are taking 680 up to meet up with Curt, and others that he has invited.

Feel free to join us if you want, at either location.

American Sportbike Night this Monday, October 2nd, 2000 at 7PM. Don't forget ASBN has a new web address. http://www.americansportbikenight.com Make sure to keep up with the current news and also, join the ASBN eGroups to get a daily digest or be able to access all the ASBN news going on by the subscribers. eGroups is a wonderful thing. Vik Anderson has the SacBORG site up and it's great. http://www.SacBORG.com He also has an eGroups link to hook up with his group.

We're back from Bonneville. ASBN had several supporters there. Rex Chaney, Jack G. Van Voast, John Chan, Kevin Lee Thomason (the ASBN webmaster) and Fireman Jim Higgins along with me who had a terrific time at Bonneville with Team Elves. I only wish I could return with them this October however I'm unable to do so.

So, don't forget Monday night. Firehouse Grille in Dublin at 7294 San Ramon Road. Call me if you have any questions, 510-483-8858 or e-mail me since the machine will probably take the message.

Ride safe,

Woz...

Track Day!

Aaron Sanfield and Jason Freeland from Santa Cruz Buell and Aprilia are putting a track day together for a maximum of 40 riders on November 13th, the day after the IMS bike show in San Mateo, at Thunderhill near Willow, California.

Anyone interested in joining me on that day for a little track fun?

It will be a non-competitive spirited riding event with a small group on a safe closed course.

$175 for the day. But we may need to stay Sunday night in Willow to be at the track early, without having to a leave at some ungodly time in the middle of the night to get up there.

Talk to Aaron or Jason about futher details.

BTW, I finally got my new SuperTrapp IDS muffler yesterday after waiting since July for a replacement.

This news in from San Jose HOG Chapter tonight. San Jose Harley is expanding. They plan on taking over Bob Dron's new Livermore store.

I asked if they were planning to add Buell to their offerings out there, and they said that would depend on what Buell felt would be appropriate for that area. (There is a Buell dealer in Walnut Creek - then you have to go to Modesto ((which has a new stand-alone Buell Store, grand opening next month.))) for the next closest dealer.

I do have to say we are pretty lucky to have 26 Buell dealers in this state. But, I recently looked to see how Yamaha dealers compared and I think I counted 88 in California.

Bridge To A Cure Ride this Sunday...

San Jose HOG Chapter is leaving San Jose Harley at 9AM Sunday morning - October 8th, if you want to ride up with them. Looks like 40-50 Harleys going up.

I think I might go up earlier and take Skyline - Highway 9 from Saratoga.

http://bridgetoacure.org for more details

Leaving the Presidio in San Francisco at 11 AM and spending the afternoon at Sears Point.

The ride and entertainment cost $40 for a good cause. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the beneficiary, Harley-Davidson and Ford are sponsering the event.

All Motorcycles Welcome!

Duke "Wheelie King" Domokos is going to be doing a wheelie all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge, with us Buellers from American Sportbike Night in close pursuit. Followed by over 1,000 other motorcycles. Video at 10PM by Channel 2 KNTV.

Bridge to A Cure Ride was a big success! It was fun being at the front of a line of bikes that went all the way across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The CHP actually closed the bridge to vehicular traffic for us.

We only went 40-60 miles per hour for the 40 mile distance from the Presidio to Sears Point, but it was great to hear all those bikes in the tunnel in Marin.

Duke Domokos jumped over a car on one wheel and landed on one wheel! Pretty Impressive riding. Of course anyone can wheelie with a 16 inch back sprocket. Duke couldn't get a permit to wheelie across the Golden Gate, because they would have had to close the bridge in both directions.

Duke has the record of doing a wheelie for 155 miles. I guess he just ran out of gas at that point. He wants to wheelie from New York to San Francisco in the future. (In air fueling, I guess)

BTW, Harley-Davidson linked their front page to our website for this event. That's a first!

American Sportbike Night was another success last night just like Rex said. Representation from the entire San Francisco Bay Area Buell community was there with Modesto Buell, Vallejo Buell, Marin (Corte Madera) Buell, McGuire Buell in Walnut Creek, Bob Dron Buell of Oakland, San Jose Buell, and we had raffle prizes from Redwood City Buell, Santa Cruz Buell and the McGuires San Ramon Harley Davidson store. Custom Chrome and Dusty Rhoades came in fine style with great raffle prizes too. It's good to see a guy with such enthusiasm in a position to share his pride and dedication to Buell with us at ASBN. James Banke of Banke Performance, Mike Bickerton of Streetwise, Art from Vallejo Buell with his carbon fiber custom parts, Clay Cameron from "Lighten Up" titanium parts and the Evergreen-Inn in Pleasanton. Rory Miller with his really cool bodywork, Mark "Jaws" Ingles, and everyone else who supports and attends ASBN, a big thank you. If I left anyone out, I'm sorry and send me a note and I'll try to remember next time.

We had a great time last night however next month we're going to have a really super time. The "Firehouse Grille" has agreed to let us take over the entire restaurant next month and I got word today from Leslie Prevish that she will be attending. She's doing her best to get Shawn Higbee to attend as well.

Mark Ransavage has been working overtime as the Harley Davidson-Buell District Manager to help make the December event something to remember as well. Mark brought 20 tickets to the International Motorcycle Show this weekend in San Mateo to give away at ASBN. Ten pairs of tickets went out to lucky attendees.

We missed Vik "eeeeek" Anderson at ASBN however he's in school and had a slip from the teacher explaining his absence. Vik however is doing a great job with SacBORG and has a great website at http://www.SacBORG.com Stop by, take a look and sign up for his eGroups forum. You're welcome to sign up for the ASBN eGroups forum as well. There's a link on our site.

We'll be having a birthday cake for everyone in December to celebrate venturing into our third year. We've been at 7294 San Ramon Road every first Monday of the month since December 1998.

Curt Relick has done a splendid job of putting our destination rides together and they're getting better and better as we do more of them. The Modesto Buell Grand Opening was an example of a job well done.

Thanks again, and thanks to Jim Armstrong, Kevin Lee Thomason, Rex Chaney, Jack G. Van Voast, Kevin Smith, John Chan, and everyone else who has made ASBN a success over the past two years.

Paul Starkweather, it's easy to be a good cook when you have such great fresh salmon to start with. Thanks for making Laguna Seca a success.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you wish. There's an e-mail link to me from our website at http://www.americansportbikenight.com

Happy Holidays,

Woz...

Tonight is the Night!

It is American Sportbike Night at the Firehouse Grille, for anyone that hasn't heard of it yet.

The website seems to be down for some reason, so just get on yer bike and peddle it over to the intersection of Highways 580 and 680 in Dublin, California and listen to the roar of 60-75 Buells coming in from all over the state.

There are some surprises in store for this evening so be sure to be there.

Tat Marcy from American Sport Bike will be there with Christmas goodies for all you bad boys. You hooligans know who you are.

Was last night fun or what?

It was great to have Shawn Higbee, Tat Marcy, Reg Kittrelle and Leslie Prevish amoung our guests.

Many thanks have to go to Woz, Rex, Kevin and Jack for organizing the best AmericanSportBikeNight yet.

Over 150 people and over 80 motorcycles there last night. IN DECEMBER! Wow.

Jack took a lot of pictures with his new Sony CD-R digital camera, and we'll probably see those appearing soon.

Danger!, Will Robinson, Danger!

I just got off the phone with The Firehouse Grille in Dublin and they will be closed on Monday, January 1st, 2001. They will have their New Years Eve bash on December 31st, but everyone's got the day off on Monday.

I'm going to try and reach everyone that I can to tell them that the place is closed, and the next meeting will be February 5th, but I'm sure
I'm going to miss some people.

Curt, and anyone else, if you can get this out on your list if there are any different names from eGroups, and we can get the information out
by word of mouth, then only a handful of folks should show up on New Years Day (I was told on December 4th that they'd be open)

So, that's the scoop. We need to get the word out

ASBN Ride - 010101 - As a reminder, the Firehouse Grille will be closed tomorrow January 1st, so meet us at Alice's Restaurant at 11:00AM - That is right it is an easy to remember binary date and time.

Or, meet us in Cupertino at the Peppermill Restaurant at 6:30AM-7:30AM departure for a ride up to Dudley Perkins Harley/Buell in San Francisco for a 9:00AM departure from there to Santa Cruz, meeting the Alice's gang along Highway 35.

BTW, look for a new website tomorrow - Battle2Win!
