Anyone know of a shop, near Hagerstown or Frederick, Md., that will mount and balance my CR tires for less than $80 a wheel?

Old Guy - I always have mine done at JT's. Carry-in wheels are cheap for them to m/b.

One of these days I'll get a tire machine at my place up in Cascade...

Quite jealous of Rat's snag of your bike Chris. A Ulysses is what my life and wallet needs, and that is a great deal you offered up.

So, it's not Buell related but it is MD related... ; )

Anyone looking, I have a 2 bedroom/1 bath ground floor apartment for rent. Brand new heat pump, updated electric, updated plumbing, hardwood floors in both bedrooms, excellent linoleum in kitchen/dining, nice carpet in living room, lots of big windows, 1000sf living space, 1000sf unfinished concrete basement with bilco entry doors, 1/3 acre, in Cascade MD. 15 minutes to Thurmont. 20 minutes to Frederick. 15 minutes to Hagerstown. 5 minutes to Waynesboro PA (grocery, WalMart, Lowes, fuel, banks). 1.5 miles to beer store. 2 doors down from a pizza joint. 2 doors from a Legion. 3 miles to a laundromat (has washer/dryer hookups on site if you have the w/d). And half a mile from some schmuck who works on buells ; )

Across the street from a park, AWESOME riding roads (I live half a mile from the apt, so I know these roads VERY WELL). Mud room. Covered front porch. Water/sewer included, high speed internet available if you want/need it. PM me if you're looking for a place. No garage...but I'm planning on putting a shed out back for a mower. If a Bueller gets it...I'll make the shed big enough for a bike to fit in : )

Looking for any one in the Silver Spring area that might have ECM Spy. I had a one on old PDA but it looks its now corrupt.

I am about to replace the CPS and install an EBR ECM on my 2006 Uly.

I'm pretty sure but not absolutely positive that the CPS is bad from research through the knowledge vault. It surges, bucks and generally runs poor after its heat saturated. I also had some previous issues with getting a spark-skip mode that I believe was caused by either a cracked ECM or some sort of voltage fluctuations through the ground path to the ECM.

Last time I took it out I barely limped home and had at least 5 trouble codes.

Either way, I now have parts in hand and I'd like to stay away from the stealership if possible. Never done a timing reset but i have the service manual. But I can't reset the TPS after the new ECM without either ECM spy and cable or the stealership

I replaced my TPS this winter and was able to ride to my dealer for a reset without noticing anything very bad, so if you have to, it may not be too bad.

I'll pile on and say that I might be posting a problem sometime: I was ROARING up 270 doing 75mph or so when I felt a reduction of power. I saw the red v-twin light flashing on my Uly's dash. I immediately moved off the highway and started heading for home on back streets. Of course, everything started acting right. I filled my tank with premium and headed back toward 270. I roared up the highway again and experienced the same power loss and warning light. I then avoided the highway speeds and instead spent my day booming around on country roads and never saw the problem again. It was clearly an issue with running at high speeds (75mph+) and going uphill. I'm due for my 20,000 mile service.

Anyway, thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone has any ideas.

I had similar issues in the past and long story short it went away when i hardwired the fan to a toggle switch. The cause was something about the fan (which is always fed with power but controlled by connecting/disconnecting the path to ground) sending voltage fluctuations thru the ECM.

Paul, I'm in Timonium, MD. I have the software and cable to do a TPS reset. Let me know if you still need this.

Hooper, I had something similar happen to me. I went in and retightened the battery terminal screws, problem solved.

My new issue is (chime in if any of you have hear of this one) my timing sensor melted. I'm being told this by the dealership. They are getting $400 to fix it. It runs great, gets hot, shuts off, all the electrical power is there but any button or switch on the right clip-on is dead until the bike cools back down. After that it is ready to ride until it gets hot again. #inacagenotbychoice

get a new pickup from American Sport Bike...Al will either have it on his site, or if you call him and tell him what you need, he'll spit out a part number. It's an easy install if you can use a drill, screwdriver, and follow wires to a plug. If you get stuck, I'm north of Frederick...happy to do the install for you if you need it.

Or...look for an aftermarket cam sensor. Not sure how quality would compare but...it's a possibility.

timing was never one of my strong points. since i already had the parts i took it in to Old Glory yesterday. so guys thanks for the offer it is sincerely appreciated. Rat - I don't know if i could have made it all the way to your place without dying on the side of the road. Still waiting for the call that it's done. not to get off on a tangent but i never understood how you can make an appointment with a dealer, be there ahead of time with parts in hand and still have to wait days for a job that takes a few hours. but i've experienced the same thing at least once at all 3 of the HD dealerships close to me. at least i know now that complaining does not make them go faster

Tell them you're a "traveler" when you make the appointment. When they see an in-state license plate the jig may be up...but I know when I worked for a dealer we always made time for travelers on our "wait" calendar. (i.e. they're on the way somewhere and have to wait for us to do the fix because they're dead in the water).

Seriously though...just cause you have a drop off appointment...doesn't mean that's when they're going to get on it. I know. It sucks. But ESPECIALLY this weekend (with Rolling Thunder)...DC Metro dealers are gonna be BURIED.

And making room for travelers.

Got it back and I have to say I'm pleased. When I dropped it off they questioned why I thought it needed a new CPS. I told them, in detail. Got the same question on the EBR ECM. Ended up with 3 hours labor for test/replace CPS with timing reset, replace ECM with TPS reset. I argued that that was high - 1 hour for a plug and play ECM replacement and one more hour for a TPS reset? Then they showed me that they had replaced the plugs it needed it and reset the fuel ration (not the right term but I don't have the invoice in front of me at I ended up getting the plugs and adjustment for no charge since I didn't authorize it. That was their offer, not mine - maybe since I argued the hourlies for the ECM and TPS.

Took it on a nice 2 hour ride with zero problems
