Thanks Charlie. I'm posting from Salem Oregon and I'll be back across the Mississippi next week. Lots of riding out here; been seeing mostly Ducati's. NUTS

Charlie,
Finally got the Blackline switched over to synthetics. Went with the Mobil 1 Vtwin for the engine and primary and chucked some Redline Vtwin in the transmission.
WHOOWEE, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The twin cams run hotter than hell and the synthetics dropped it to a comfortable level. Has to be a 20-25 degree drop. Also got a pleasant surprise from the Redline. It dampens the infamous "clunk" when dropping to 1st gear quite well. In closing I LOVE THIS BIKE!

Nuts,
Whatcha doing in Oregon? If you see Bigfoot try to get me a photo.

Congratulations to you and the wife!!
When the time comes, reflect upon those conversations we had about how a child changes your outlook on life. It still amazes me to this day how they have the ability to make you love them more than you ever thought you could love someone.

Speaking of polishing, I just pulled a gruesome all nighter last night. Started with stripping the old wax, followed by a cleaner, polish, wax, and detailer. My arms are sore as hell today but the Blackline is gleaming like a mirror on a cloudless day.

In other news,
Godspeed Mr. Griffith. You'd be hard pressed to find a gentler, kinder soul walking the earth. This is one of the few times that a celebrity's death has actually upset me, but today is a sad day for me indeed

Thank you sir. The greatest thing you ever taught me was the joy you take in being the father of your two daughters. Not to discredit any of the other stuff but until I met you anything other than a boy was just not possible. Thanks again Honky!

I have proof that our man about town is still alive and well!

Nuts,
Thoroughly enjoyed the morning meet and greet. Now that I am riding mornings maybe we can get something in the works in the very near future.

It was indeed good to be seen. I tore three knobbies off the rear tire after u-turning and runnin ya down. I usually take a ride before the heat sets in and there's lots of places up there for a place to ketchup. NUTS

Indeed, but the strain on the transmission due to the DRZ lacking a cush hub is the real trouble. I do enjoy changing tires by hand!

Do yo know your right, rear tail-light is out? Noticed it when you left. NUTS

Nuts,
After much looking, I believe the XS sight is what you're looking for. The only other one I found that I would consider is the Williams Fire Sight, but I don't think it matched the purpose of why you chose this type of hunting tool.
When you get it let me know and we'll hit the range.

And when are we riding again?

Hard to say on the Blade height since the XS rear sight rides higher than factory. If it were me I'd order the shorter blade BUT I haven't seen or shot your gun so can't guarantee that it will be the correct one.
As far as riding, I had planned on shooting you a surprise AM call early next week. Hopefully get a jump on it so we can head up the mountain for my rootbeer, ride a bit further, and get home before the sun tries to eat me.

from memory of last season. No matter how much I tried to adjust the factory sight I couldn't get the POI low enough. Had to compensate by putting the tip of the blade directly below the aimpoint. I don't like compensating. NUTS

If you had that problem with the factory front then you definitely need a lower front blade. The XS rear is pretty limited in its elevation adjustments when compared to some others but it shouldn't matter with the lower blade height.

Wouldn't a lower blade raise the POI? Having to raise the barrel to put the front sight on-target.

The XS rear is higher than factory. If you stick with the high front blade you won't have enough adjustment at 50 yards which is what you're looking for isn't it?
I could be wrong but that's what I'd go with.

Im guessing Havens in the early morn or afternoon. I was at the farm on Monday and saw skwak cuttings shin deep and a foxy living in the shell of the old house!

I'll look at the upcoming weather and see what day works best. Any preference you have? NUTS

Unfortunately early morning hunts are doo doo for me at the moment. I'm keeping egg watch all night with the new critters via infrared camera. They lay at night and have a bad habit of eating the eggs if not removed immediately.
If you get an afternoon off let me know and we'll head on out there. On the flip side, once they lay, we can go on a sunrise adventure.
