I went to get my plates today for my 2002 WR. They had gone up over the last 3 years from $28 to $67 today. This was a temporary fee imposed by Gov. Ritter(D). Now the way I understood the increases starting 3 years ago, was that they would increase the plates for 3 years (to pay for the roads that needed repaired) and then return back to $28. My 1998 Toyota Rav4 also went from $28 to over $70. WELL, today I mentioned to the person at Jeffco when getting my plates, that it will be nice to go back to the lower plate prices next year. She said they decided not to get rid of the increased fee's and keep them at the supposed higher prices. I had a feeling this would happen. I am pissed!

Don't feel too bad John.
The current governor decided I have to get emissions done on my cars now(Weld county) PLUS pay ludicrous license fees.
Colorado is too proud of itself.

Heck, I can't understand how they can claim the taxable value of my 1125CR is $10K! I didn't pay that much for it new, and I know the blue book value is nowhere near that.

Yeah, I have to get my tags for the H and it's well over $200.

Hey, does anyone out there have a crankshaft locking tool that we might borrow? EBR said they are about 3 weeks out on back order. The #is B-48858.

We did order the stator/rotor kit today so looking forward to getting this thing fixed.

Julie
I'll ask Dan, I'm going in in an hour or so to do valves and porting on 2-1/2 sets of heads.
I doubt he has one but he may know somebody who does..

Rode up to Salida on Hwy. 50 this afternoon. Great going up, but coming back a storm was rolling over the Sangres and the temperature dropped fast. Still, good outing, very little sand or gravel. Even a few bugs!

Z, ordered the tool thru HCHD and they should get it in the typical 7-10 days, then have to ship it to us. The stator kit is ordered and hopefully will be going out today. Got the nut as well. Dan has the locktite already and the gasket. So.....as soon as all the parts get here we'll get on it. The new VR seems to be helping as well. Went out for a ride yesterday and the battery stayed around 14+. Then I put on the heated grips and it went to 13+. The only thing is at a stop it does drop down into the 12V's.

I'm sure hoping this is a FIX.

Well, Dan's got the bike apart, tool should b here tomorrow. The stator, #3, was starting to fry, so it was just a matter of time before it quit. Had just over 3k miles on this stator. Am getting pics and will post later.

The new stator/rotor is in, cover not on yet. Dan is doing an oil change at the same time and he wants to paint the muffler tonite and reinstall tomorrow. Will be putting it all back together tonite except the muffler which we'll put on tomorrow and hopefully be able to take it out for a ride.

Do have lots of pics but haven't been able to get them small enough to put on...yet. We're working on it.

It hasn't been too bad but we could have used you Jody, to help get the 300# of torque done. I helped Dan pull to get it to the right torque. It is interesting to see how all this mechanical stuff works.

Will hopefully post pics soon.

Yay Hooray!!
Hopefully this makes your riding more predictable.
Gotta get into the hills soon or take a trip to High Plains.
Ouch 150 for a full day...
A half-day is only 90 bucks, is that enough or just a tease??

Rolled the Uly onto the dyno yesterday after Dan left.
He pointed at a couple of buttons and said "push these" and said "see ya Monday".
Took me a few tries to get the hang of it, finally settled on a run in fifth that showed 75 ft-lbs and 90 HP.
Not bad for bone stock...

Now that I know how, gonna get Loretta on there soon.

Hmmmm, 500 more bucks to get the tuning software from Erik....

Hope y'all are enjoying this Summer weather.

Took a nice ride yesterday and it felt like I was riding a new bike. At idle with the fan running it was reading 13.5. While riding, even below 5k rpm it never went down below 14.

Will b at High Plains in May for a 2 day session with Jason Pridmore's school. New tires and brakes to b installed before track day. Looking forward to this.

Welcome home John. As you can see, Dan and I took a ride on Sat after getting the bike back together and it was soooooo nice. I really did feel like I was riding a brand new bike. My mental state of mind was so much better just knowing that the bike is fixed. YEAH

I was on 67 yesterday from Buffalo Creek to Woodland Park. There is a LOT of sand on the road between Buffalo Creek and Deckers. Be very careful if you ride down there.

Jody, so far so good. I've run my high beams and put on the heated grips and the voltage is staying in the high 13/14 range. It's so nice to have this fixed.

Then Dan and I went out for a ride 2 weekends ago and the spring on my kickstand broke and I had a flopping kickstand. Found another one on ebay and got that fixed. These bikes aren't happy unless they are being worked on LOL.

Looking forward to track day in May. Will have new tires and brakes on the bike prior to taking it to the track. Just hope the weather holds out and no snow (the school does track days even in the rain)

Hope to get together with you for some rides this summer.

I did a 90 mile loop today from Morrison. Up Coal creek canyon to peak to peak then to Central city and back. The roads were very clean the whole ride. No sand in coal creek, Wunderview or peak to peak. Fun!!!

I am from IL and in Boulder, CO for the weekend. My buell has a custom tune from when i bought it. i never have liked the tune. but now that I am here it runs horrible in the high altitude. are there any independent shops that will help give me a good service job and fair price on emc reset or custom tune? if not which HD would you recommend? thanks.

Try High Country HD in Frederick. There are some friendly Buell folks up there.
