For the first time since 1984, this years three Friday the 13ths — Jan. 13, April 13 and July 13 — are exactly 13 weeks apart.

I got to ride my Blast last night! WooHoo! Found out pretty quickly that I need some riding time before any mountain time this summer! Be glad when my riding coach is done with school! |

It really wasn't that cold this morning, was it? It was in the mid to upper 30's when I left home. And when I got to a nice open space (no trees and lots of sun) it felt like it warmed up about 5 degrees.
Then why was a I welcomed when I walked in the door at work with "You rode today?!?! Aren't you cold?" While another colleague commented "He's got brass ones.".
I guess I was only able to do it because of the heated grips...

It is never too cold to ride. You just need the proper gear.
That being said, I rode to Raleigh from Carrboro on Thursday.
I had on a summer jacket with a sweatshirt over it. Should have checked the weather.
It was 47 degrees out. When I rode home it was 35.
If I had dressed properly with the right jacket and my heated liner and gloves... it would have been more enjoyable.
It is sunny today... and 31 degrees out...
I think I will go for a ride. |

Just got back from Dahlonega.22 degrees when I left to ride up,15 mph winds and an 8 degree wind chill.
It's hard for me to believe now,but I road in weather like this for years without decent gear. |

Rode to Fayetteville to have dinner with mom on Monday. When I pulled back into my driveway the outside thermometer was at 18.1, I have no idea what the windchill was, but thank you Gerbing. I might add, thanks Jim Nance, without his gift I never would have gotten heated gear! That would have been a long ride home stopping every 7-8 minutes to warm up! |

Heated gear is quite nice, but google for 'Motorcycle mittens Carbon PTM-PN Kevlar 100% Leather winter gloves' from Bolid Gloves for a nice low-tech alternative... I have a pair and love them. I've used them down to 22F @ ~75 mph for ~30 minutes, didn't wan't to stop but I was at work and felt it would be rude if I didn't go in. Heated grips + these mittens would be about perfect. |

4 years ago today I bought the XB12XT that I would eventually turn into the XT-BOLT.
Here's a shot of it's odometer after I got done riding it to work this morning:
Imagine what the mileage would be if it had been in my possession the entire time and last summer's bikeless times in Florence, SC hadn't been a necessity...

U4 you asked about issues on the )08 bikes and heated gear I just finished some measurements and an '08 and gear will work fine provided you dont run the high beams all the time. the info is in the 1125 section under the charging problem section. |

I just bought a 1999 S3T. I am loving finally getting one and joining the biker/riding brotherhood, especially on a Buell!
I have found out though, that having my local HD dealership work on my bike will cost me a small fortune and could soon rack up what I purchased the bike for in the first place.
I recently had a 5000 mi service, new front iso, new rocker box gaskets, and my rear brake checked for sticking. It wasn't cheap and a few more repair bills like that might take the joy out of owning a tuber.
I am hoping to find a fellow Bueller/rider in my area that knows how to work on the old school bikes who might be willing to help me learn how to wrench on my own bike.
Anyone willing? If so, PM me and we can talk.

When I got back from Daytona Sunday night, the round trip mileage (including the riding in Daytona) was 1,313.2 - How freaking cool is that? 1313 miles.
I rode the XT-BOLT figuring it needed a good road trip to get the MPG back up. Only issue I had was a blown fuel pump fuse shortly after I entered Georgia on the way down. MPG seemed better on return trip, but there's always room for improvement - especially with the over $4.00 a gallon fuel in some of the states I went through.

With the higher/different pressures on XB's and 1125's I've forgotten this key piece of tuber knowledge (and forgot to look in my manuals last night). If memory serves, 32 Front and 36 Rear is what the cast wheels were. I don't see any reason it would be different with PM's, but... Let me check my manuals tonight.

32 Front and 36 Rear
Verified as being correct for solo riding. If at GVWR 36 front and 38 rear are the recommended pressures.
No distinction made for PM vs. cast wheels,

I just installed a shinko on the back of the X1 ( couple of weeks ago now ) seems to be ok.
I need a new tire on the back of the 1125r
running it at 35 psi
the Conti's went almost 6K on the X1
but they are getting spendy and the Conti's and shinko both come from Korea |

Trying a new Shinko Tire on the X1 the conti's
are done at just shy of 6K
the shinko is at 35 psi seems good lots of meat, deep tread well made |

BikeSafe is a FREE class offered by Law Enforcement under the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program.
It is specifically designed to lower motorcycle fatalities in the state.
NC is the pilot project for the program in the US, which started in London, England.
I took this one day safety course last September and have only good things to say about it.
