I know very little about Wildcat Mtn. and I am going. So far there are a small handful of us signed up to go; I think Jerry knows more about that than I do and now he's got this baby and such so he's not on-line as much and I don't visit this site nearly as much as I used to. The ride captain for the trip never comes to badweb and I don't know of anyone else on badweb that is planning on coming so the talk of it isn't going on here. I haven't saying anything because I am just along for the ride. The few details I do know is that it is this weekend, Saturday morning we are leaving from Hal's and spending the night up there then coming back some time Sunday, the campsite is being paid for out of club funds because we have yet to find a better use for them. I am personally bringing a one man tent and a little pocket cash. The plans for the rest of the folks I couldn't say. edited by dullorb on July 20, 2004 |

"Also remember that one of the biggest sources of pollution is also biodegradable, fertilizer. " Ah yes, I remember the study trying to measure bovine gas levels several years ago. I don't recall if the plan was to supplement the bovine's diets with daily doses of Gas-x or not. 'scuse me now whilst I go find a cave or box to crawl into and practice my humor. |

Dullorb...Thanks for the update. Didn't know if it was still on or not. Thought I read some of the Uke's and Appleton group were going. Was just wondering how big the event got as I bought all new camping gear last year for it and it got canceled. |

Bill, There is probably (hopefully) a printed copy of the club's newsletter down at Hal's on the bulletin board, or check with the receptionist up at the front desk. There is also a short note about it on the web site for Hal's: http://www.halshd.com/interactive/calendar/ListEvents.asp?EDt=7/24/2004&ID=12699 I always forget what the club's website address is so I never look there, YMMV. |

Mike...Blastin Jerry did a nice piece on the Wildcat Mtn ride on the BCB thread in early June. Just haven't heard much since. Bomber and I are thinking of possibly doing a ride up that way this weekend. Not certain, still up in the air. FYI, the following is BCB's website. Hasn't been updated in quite some time. Last update was the addition of the Ted K Bueller Down link. Looks like a waste of money if you ask me. Then again, Dullorb probably found a way to get something for nothing or next to it. Hello Everyone, If you are planning on attending the Wildcat Mountain overnight trip, lease post a message on the board or send me an e-mail so we can get a head count. Jerry |

If memory serves it costs about $7 a month. Mostly it is my own personal plaything and gets updated as I see fit. See Bill, we need you and bomber to come to the camping trip to give me ideas about what to put on the site. Now I am trying to find out how many people are planning on coming. All I know for sure is Dave is leading the ride, I am following him and I have to replace my starter by Saturday morning and a new starter ain't cheap. |

Just got off the phone with Dave(the ride captain) and he tells me we have got soemwhere in the neighborhood of 6-12 confirmed riders. The ones he knows about is a couple buddies of his and assorted wives/girlfriends and a couple kids and then there's me so that's at least 6 + kids and Jerry told him that there's a few others that are going on top of that. PS - CJ, we told you you wouldn't be the only girl if you came! |

Orb I'll not be making the trip (as sometimes happens, real life has risen up and interfered with riding! sucks to act like a grown up, don't it?)-- my ideas on the site would like end about the time Hailwood stopped riding, so I'm thinkin input from some, ehem, less senior members might be of more value {grin} have a great trip, ride safe, giggle much, and report on the great roads when you come back, please . . . .I'll be heading out that way in August |

I'm sure I'd be willing to head out that way again in August if I weren't going to Newfoundland. Hopefully I will be able to get you folks great pics from both trips. |

Dullorb, I received some contact information from Carilee for a new XB owner that offered to help out with the site. I am going to try and call him the first of next week. Hopefully he will have some ideas as well. |

See, I knew Dullorb got a great deal on the site. LOL The reason for my comment about worth had to do with not much content other than the schedule. If you combine it with the newsletter as a recruitment and retention tool great. Make the club and its events look exciting and more will join and participate. As is, well, you be the judge concerning its value. Sorry I can't make the trip this weekend. Di has a major project due at school Monday and doesn't have time to learn Power Point. Ergo, I get to play graphics guy and wordsmith this weekend. Ugh |

Yeah I know, and the schedule could use some fleshing out as well... The big thing is that I am a true programmer and as such don't give a rat's whisker about shiny stuff. A bad trait in a web master. Some sunny day I'll get off my duff and get to work on it. The more bitching I hear from out there the more motivated I will be, of course nothing will happen till I get back from NEWFOUNDLAND, 1 week woo hoo!!!!

Got drafted once in my life, Railroaded a few times in business but volunteered for everything else in my private life. Sort of hard to vote for an expatriate/non-member, eh? LOL Was only surfing and making a comment on an open thread as all the other expatriates and foreigners do. It seems more politically correct than posting on the Sewer thread. Brew City is (well, it was when I was a member) a club for the young and they should be the ones that determine its destiny. Lots of family and job stress that prevent many from being as active as they would like to be. Know your members and prospects deeper than the superfluous BS and you will do fine with the club. Not everyone is a lonely single type that clings on to whatever group they can. You need to appeal to their base values to increase membership and participation. Granted sometimes in a sport bike environment this is difficult, especially on bikes built-for-one and where the spouses and Sig O's don't want to ride their own bikes for whatever reasons. However, there are ways around these objections if you really understand your market and are considerate of them. In the event the Motorcycle built-for-one concept is a too large a negative towards building a BRAG club, perhaps you should communicate with the other BRAG clubs and submit a signed petition to BRAG (like Erik's 20th Anniversary Card) that explains the situation and requests Buell to strongly consider a Two-Up Bike for real people. That will do a lot more good than all the wishes and whining posted on the BWB. Personally, I don't have that problem as Di loves riding on either the Buell or the Wide Glide. However, considering the lack of capacity for luggage (read: foul weather gear at the very least) when riding two-up on the Buell, the Harley has become our favorite ride and the Buell has been reduced to my mental health machine which happens to be for sale if anyone is interested in a near perfect X1 with loads of upgrades, accessories and spare parts. I am confident that you have already noted via my other posts that when I ride for mental health (read: sport ride), I either ride alone or with someone whose skills I can trust emphatically. Quite simply, I want to ride my pace and enjoy the little time I have. If I can share that with someone, that is wonderful, but if that means riding alone that is just fine with me. So now you know why the switch to Outrider as a username and why I don't belong to either a BRAG or a HOG Chapter. In the event any of you have any questions concerning building the club, feel free to contact me at your convenience and I will do my best to help you. Just respect me for my decisions, consider the advise for what it's worth and have fun building your club. Just don't give up and if you see me at an event say "Hi" but don't bother trying to draft or recruit me. It isn't worth your effort or mine. |

Nah, Brew City ain't a club for the young. Heck we got chill'uns at our camping trip. I see Brew City as a very losely connected group of folks that get together at their own leisure to have fun. We have had rides and attendance hasn't been the greatest but if you can sacrifice a couple extra people to give you more freedom in doing stuff on the fly that's hunky dory with me. I think Brew City is kind of like Badweb, anybody can come in and say what they want and once in awhile the heads knocking together will get a great trip that at least some people can come to like Newfoundland or Wildcat. If CJ tries to draft you she's just doing her duty but there's obligation to say yes. And yeah we have had a couple rides. The reason you don't hear about them is that other than the officers no one who actually attends meetings posts on Badweb. |

Incidentally, I am in no way implying that I am a better rider than any of you or a snob. I am merely saying that I am considerably older and want to ride at my pace which varies considerably depending on mood and conditions. If and when we meet, I would like for us to be sociable and have a good time. However, I seriously doubt if any of you really want to hang with someone that is older than most of your fathers. LOL |
