Nuts, I'm a two stroke kind of guy, but in your case I don't understand.Other than weight, there's no advantage in your type of racing. In fact it would seem just the opposite,a nightmare in the wet, slick stuff, plus jetting is more critical.

Charlie, Rekluse auto clutch is the advantage. KTM 2smokes have a tuneable power delivery via different powervalve spring and 2 options from the CDI. I'll use the torque of the motor and keep it off the pipe unless I'm in a wide open section.

I had the opportunity to trade straight across and this gives me the seat time to see what motor I adapt to better. I rode the 4stroke really lazily and that accounted for some bad habits. Besides, 2smokes are holding their value better as the perception is they are easier to maintain.

On another note... My Colorado trip has been abandoned. The bike is not ready to go 4k miles. I am not confident in it and don't want to realize that somewhere in Mississippi. We just need time together. When we get it it's gonna be an awesome ride. NUTS

Still here and still plugging away.
As of now my life consists of sleep, eat, weights, pedal.
Down by 53 pounds so far. Another 22 and then I'll switch gears and try to slowly go back up with lean body mass. This is the best structured plan I've ever tried and the results are pretty pleasing, so I am stoked. The worst part surpisingly is the amount of food I gotta eat every day. Roughly 3 pounds of lean meat, 3 pounds of the right complex and simple carbs, plus good fats. I gotta shovel in a pound of food every 2 hours or so.
Who woulda thought you gotta eat so much to lose weight?
Its all good though. Down 2 shirt sizes and my 34 jeans fall right off, which is pretty exciting considering I havent worn a size 32 since I was 12 or so .
The best part is I'm doing it for ME. Not to draw attention, not so girls will look. Simply to feel better and control a part of my health that I can actually change. Seems to be easier to stick with when its not about vanity .

Thanks for the kind words Charlie!
Its been a relatively easy journey so far which makes the chances of maintaining the results much easier long term.

Nutty,
Sorry I missed your call buddy. I was out for the evening ride and figured you'd be asleep by the time I got home.
I'll give you a ring tomorrow.

Mr. McNuts,
Thanks for the offer of assistance but I got it all taken care of.
Passed on the Smith and went with a nice, basic olympic bench and weight set and kept the Bowflex for a little variety.
Dude was kind enough to deliver it for me at 11:30 last night even after I juked him down substantially. I almost felt guilty.
The basement looks like a local gym had a yard sale and I had a wad of cash

Ahh, poor Nutster. Trying to live the life of a youthful man. Soon enough the realization will hit that he has gotten old but I applaud his efforts to try to live in denial .
You know that saying "age is just a number"? Well thats crap. In truth, you are still old and just trying to fool yourself. Its called middle age crazy, although I have yet to experience it myself.
Anyways, good luck my geriatric ex buddy .

Myself, I spent 8 hours and 45 minutes cleaning the Rocka' today. She sure is a pretty beast and I felt a little guilty for not giving her the loving attention that she deserves.
Now before ya'll start screaming about being a perfection freak, I absolutely did not get upset when I discovered all the flaws (although I will admit that I spent an hour at the dealer yesterday checking the new bikes to see if the finish was just as sloppy, which it was )

Race report:

First RIDE on the 2stroke was the start line this morning in Franklin County. Bike fired on the first kick and I was wheelying away! Had to cool it, cause I don't want to be the first to the trees and have these other hoons on my "6".
Spent lap #1 keeping the bike off the pipe and lugging around. Lap #2 I kept the same pace and worked on skills as they came up. I managed to keep the bike right-side-up all day with zero "bails".
I need to raise the idle put the milder power valve spring in and adjust the auto-clutch to engage sooner. Pretty sure I finished 9th out of 10 starters but my bones don't ache and I have no casts anywhere!

Saw a copperhead while hiking with the-raven Wednesday and caught a green snake in the backyard Friday. There was a 4ft black rat snake in the trail this morning as I came through; jammed on the brakes, stalled the bike and screemed: "where's Jackie when you need him!" Apparently he was polishing his rocker.

Super mud race. Bike died after the first lap; fouled plug. I've had the bike for a month and it has fouled 2 plugs. The test plug shows spark but the actual plug only lasted 65 minutes. Just a bit frustrating. I have another race this Sunday in Wytheville. NUTS

Bummer Nuts!
Does the 2 stroke gremlins have you wishing you woulda kept the thumper?

As for myself,
Sunday I completed one of my personal goals that I had set for myself.
Starting from the trailhead at Riverland, I made the summit of Mill Mountain and finished all the trails without stopping. Cruised down to the bottom and scaled the old road back to the summit once again without stopping.
Total time - 1hr 38min.
Total weight loss thus far - 58 pounds
I am well pleased

Jaxson...........NOW THAT'S JUST FLATASS BRAGGIN.......Proud of ya man, keep it going.

Nuts........Is that bike premix or injector? Is this a case of too much time off the pipe? Lugging the motor.Has it been jetted for your area? Much more critical than the four stroke....but still well worth it.

Not wishing I had the thumper back. Premix and certainly too much time off the pipe. I have jetted the bike to factory specs(there's a good guide in the manual) for my temps and elevation. I'm going to get a compression test done today and hope to avoid jumping into the topend with only 3 races left.

Honky, sorry I missed your call last night. We were in Stuarts Draft watching my sister's volleyball game. And congrats on the weight watchers and cycle-goals. NUTS

Nuts, If the bike runs really good on a NEW plug, I doubt the problem is compression.(still good to know what you have though) Test it with the throttle wide open. If the bulk of your riding is going to be off the pipe, you might want to lean out your mid-range a little more. Not being on the pipe you can't get enough clean burn to keep the plug clean.
Does this motor have some type of exhaust power valve?(I'm old school)Not up on the new stuff. If so it might be compounding your problem. Let me know what you find.

Charlie, the bike runs good as of yesterday's outing. The plug looks mocha brown.
I have the most forgiving power valve spring in at the moment. After Sunday's race I'll pull the plug and fine-tune from there.

I drained the trans fluid this afternoon and it was awful- black/grey and like custard around the drain plug. I flushed it with a little seafoam and some quality screamin eagle oil(knew it was good for something). I'll be putting some Rotella T6 in tomorrow along with a freshly oiled air filter. I do enjoy maintaining motorbikes!

The_raven will be crew-chiefing again which means I'll be making him carry my extra goggles and gloves.

Supposed to be an endurocross section as well as part of the banked oval.

Nuts, Good luck this sunday(my birthday...big 70)maybe the banked oval will allow you to stay on the pipe for awhile and help the plug out. We use an extended tip plug which helps prevent fowled plugs. If your not, see if you can find one in your heat range and give it a try.I have never fowled an extended tip plug, have some of the others.
How is Seth doing, tell him I said "HEY" and good luck to ya again.

Happy day to you Charlie, I'll look for an extended plug today(just in case). I'll pass the "hey" along in the morning when the driver gets here. By all accounts he's alive, well and fighting through the downturned economy but I think I've got him on-track to get some more education. He likes expensive toys and ya gotta have $$$$ to play.

Speaking of expensive toys...I hear, tell a member is once again doing his part to fuel our economy. One low mileage bike at a time.

Sweet Jaxson, looks a little old school...I like that. But a little surprised, I thought you were strictly pedal power now.
I heard they were having try-outs down at the City Market for bicycle cops and the thought of you in Spandex shorts and a badge would have been more than you could pass up.

Old school indeed! I was originally drawn in by the color combo of the cylinders and heads, kinda like an old Panhead. Then I started noticing that it just looks tougher than the chopper style bike. More stripped down and raw compared to a bunch of flash. The final straw was seeing everybody in town with at least a 200mm tire. Quite simply, its played out and time to go full cicle back to basics. It reminds me of Billy's bike in Easyrider.

Now as far as the bicycle cop, I loves to do some bicycling and I am known for my blatant abuse of Spandex, BUT I don't want to be in a position where I may have to shoot somebody. I would like to have an official badge though so maybe i could pull over a pretty gal and see some boobage in exchange for not giving them a ticket .
