Hey thanks guys, it was good to see you and enjoy a mellow canyon ride.

About that Wolf Creek run, I'll be out of town the next weekend after July 4th that I'm off. So maybe I can meet up for a ride August 13 or 14th? I'm not sure if my schedule will change in September, so I'll have to get back to you guys on that. Ya'll ride safe!

Hey guys,

We have the Southwest Buell Rally coming up August 19, 20, 21 in Durango, CO and need to see who may be attending:

I just got the rates from Durango Mountain Resort. I think this is pretty good and she's sending me a contract. Need you guys to sound off about it and confirm you're attending:

At Purgatory Village, they offer:
King Room - $83 plus tax, plus $13 resort fee
Studio for 2 - $90 plus tax, plus $14 resort fee
Studio for 4 - $98 plus tax, plus $15 resort fee
1 bedroom condo (sleeps 4) - $121 plus tax, plus $15 resort fee
2 bedroom condo (sleeps 6) - $182 plus tax, plus $18 resort fee

There are many of these rooms available. Also, she quoted me some condos in other buildings that sleep many people each, but there are only one or two of each available and they're much more expensive (but not necessarily on a per person basis).

I need to get some numbers ASAP. I have to fill at least five rooms per night for two nights for the pricing to stick, otherwise, they'll revert back to standard pricing.

Let me know. Thanks.

I have to work that weekend CJ, thank you for the invite, maybe some of the other kids here can come out to play though.

For the locals, Mirror Lake Highway is now open:

Though some of it looks like this:

The XB ran great at high Uintah elevation, even in the rain and mud:

I briefly considered that road behind the bike, knowing some here would have done it (Chuck). But then decided I didn't have the money, or time to deal with it, if the raod was too much for the XB.
Turns out my Super TT likes mud.

East Canton is also open, though they were repaving sections of it when I went in Thursday. I turned around and headed home when I got to the construction about 2/3rds of the way through from the SLC side of things.

OK, I made the final arrangements today for the hotel for the Durango trip.

We'll be staying at Durango Mountain Resort. They can be contacted at 970-247-9000. After 12pm tomorrow, our group rate will be loaded and ready to book. Ask for the Southwest Buell Rally.

The rooms and rates are as above:
King room: $83 plus $13 resort fee
Studio for 2: $90 plus $14 resort fee
Studio for 4: $98 plus $15 resort fee
1 BR: $121 plus $15 resort fee
2 BR: $182 plus $18 resort fee

These are all at the Purgatory Village Hotel. Dates of stay are check in on 8/19, stay two nights, depart 8/21.

In response to the inquiry about routes up to the event: I don't know. If people want to meet up and ride up as a group, we can do that. If people have peculiar schedules and need to arrive earlier or later, they can certainly go up on their own. I agree that going up through Chama and Pagosa is much more scenic and enjoyable. Given the time, I'd opt for that too. However, if I'm working that day (which I might), I might have to take the speed route up US550.

Ping me with questions or concerns.

Hello folks. It's been a while, I know. Just wanted to drop in and say the ol' 1125 is up for sale (ad in classified section). I'm planning on retiring with in the next year and I am looking to go a different route with my riding (adv touring). The Buell just isn't cut out for that. Hopefully, she'll find a loving home soon and I can move on to my next adventure and new life...ugh...

Hey Jeff, do you need a spare bike? Hint, hint... : )

Sounds like we need to get that last ride in before you give it up for adoption. I'm hoping I'll be able to get back on the bike in another week.

Retirement will be nice Kerri; remind me to tell you sometime how I know that. HA!Adventure riding is really fun and you should easily have the time to follow that. Are you also going to find some kind of work to augment your income? More money = more bikes/riding, YA! Many adventure bikes out there now and I'm sure you will find one that fits your needs well.

And Brandon; hope you can ride soon so lets watch the weather and plan a ride soon for as many Utah Buellers as we can get together.

For me, my adventure will soon be fishing in Minnesota so I'll need my boat and put the bikes up for a few weeks while I fish for some Muskies, Pike and Bass. WooHoo! And then finish up our riding season with the real nice weather in Sept./Oct.

Stay well and stay safe everybody and lets get together soon for a ride. Bob

KB - sorry to hear you're unloading the pirate. Are you going out to MMP next weekend? I may be interested and we can talk if you're out there. I just got through making some more mods to mine (upgraded brake and clutch MC, and did the advanced ART in July). I'm also looking at a RC8-R, so it's a 'maybe'.

I'm in for the rally. : ) Another website I'm on just had theirs a month or so back in Durango. Beautiful place. I like visiting. They had some major construction going on the loop where it gets constricted down to one-way traffic-light controlled traffic. Traffic was minimal in beginning of June so wasn't bad at all. Real pretty place.

Sad to say, but my Buell is up in the classifieds here. Was asking $6700, but she's really got to go so I'm going to entertain reasonable offers. Jeff, you still interested? Brandon? Need a spare ride? Bob? Mike?

Sorry Kerri, I've got too many bikes as it is right now. Wish I could, an 1125R would look awesome in my garage =]

Met a fellow by the name of John at the gas station Saturday, he was on a blue XB12R, 2005 model year is what he said.

Hopefully he pops on here and introduces himself before too long.

Just for our (almost retired) gal Kerri; here: "www.advrider.com/forums/index.php" is a great web site for adventure riders I came across on another BadWeb post. Maybe you already have seen it Kerri but if not, hope you enjoy it as much as I am. I did the cafe route recently and now maybe a new change following your idea, but a little too old for the really long rides. Still a little off roading along with a nice interstate sounds very inviting and its really catching on quickly. Stay safe out there everybody and I'll see you all after some Minnesota Muskie hunting. YA!

Littlebuggles;"I've got too many bikes as it is right now"---I've never heard of TOO MANY bikes...how many do you need? the answer is always...ONE MORE!!!. Bob;"a little too old for the really long rides"...You don't get too old to ride...you get old because you don't ride!! Kerri;what did you think of the "Rawhyde"clinic last night, wish I could have stayed, but work always gets in the way of fun stuff BTW,did they give any indication where the class would be?

$5750 is the new price now...she's REALLY got to go.

Saxon (Jeff was it? I can't remember, my bad!!!) that clinic was AWESOME! Their school is in So Cal near Death Valley. The short one is about $1300 and the big 5-day one is $2900-ish, but includes everything incl a bike! I'd LOVE to do one, but I gotta save up for it! The one day deal they are giving (free) will meet at BMW of SLC and then move to another location with a ride up into the mountains to follow. Sounds like a hoot!

Good seeing you there! Sorry you couldn't stay!

Bob, yep, I've checked that site out...good stuff there!

I've heard that Robert, and optimally, I would love to have one of each flavor... but I can only ride one at a time, and the wife is not all that interested in riding the XB as we had put in the general plans when we were getting the bike.

Soooo... what do you do?

Well, been over East Canyon twice since yesterday (varying revs for break in) and, although I am not terribly familiar with that road, she seems fine with it! Still not 100% with the tires yet (Pirelli Scorpion Trails), but I'm gaining confidence. She rides like a dream though. For as heavy as she is sitting still, the weight disappears when she's moving. Very well balanced at low and high speeds. I'm very pleased so far! : )

Triumph sent my wife an invite to a track day event this weekend, demo riding their current line-up out at the Miller motorsports park.

I took Sunday off, we'll see if they'll let me ride in her place. Prolly have to register online or something.

Anyone here going to this thing?

A few more details, proper gear required and a signed waiver. Invite does not say exactly what they consider "proper" riding gear.

Today and tomorrow, 9am-5pm

You can register at www.mytriumphnsl.com

Advert says they're bringing the "entire 2011 lineup of high performance motorcycles" for us "to see and ride."

If anyone wants to meet up and ride out there, or carpool out there let me know. I'll be going tomorrow, gotta work tonight so I'm heading to bed here shortly. Feel free to text me though, I'll leave my phone on eight-o-one, nine-seven-one, forty four, ninety three.

Sorry for the late notice.

-Mike

Mike -

It's a demo ride, not a track day - I called up and asked. Apparently, they will take groups out for a ride with leader/follower...not sure where, but Triumph said not on the track. The vintage guys have the track. I could be wrong, but that's what they told me. I wanted to take the Speed Triple out for a few laps myself..... please post how it went. (it's going to kill me if they let you track them and I missed out). I'll be on the 1125 on Monday - full track, 30 minute sessions - big fun to be had.

JM
