Frank, I finally got the lower clamp out! I beat on that thing until I chewed up the end of a good 2x4. Finally had to tap directly on the stem. It was corroded and rusted. The bearings came out shortly after that.

How necessary is the HD steering head bearing installation tool for getting the new bearings seated properly? It kind of looks like something that could be cobbled together from the hardware store.

When I did it...I used part of one of the used bearing (used to apply pressure at the right spot) and some parts from home depot...like a threaded rod with nuts and something to support the pressure...I used a couple small, yet thick, pieces of steel.

The trickiest part was making sure bearings (one at a time) started straight.

Thanks Frank. Actually arrived in Denver last night and I am already out riding. I have the 1125r out now (stopped for lunch). I think a stator is in my near future...was only charging up to 12.4 on highway and down into the 10's during long idling. Next project is to get the Blue Uly ready for the road trip in a few weeks.

Welcome home Steve and thanks for what you do for our country. Glad you made it home safe and are back on the bike. I love my 1125CR. Already had a new stator put in so we'll see how long it lasts.

Dan and I are going to sleep in our travel trailer tonite to try it out and if the weather holds out will be camping in 2 weeks probably up in the Woodland Park-Lake George area.

We're planning on taking a nice ride tomorrow as the weather is suppose to be perfect. WELCOME SUMMER

Good weather today. I get the oil and tranny oil changed on Lynn's XB. Also tracked down a break in the rear tail/stop light circuit. The XB also got a new rear tire mounted and scrubbed a bit.

Got the 95 S2 (number 35) sorted out, new rear hydraulic brake switch, new rear isolators and some adjustments here and there.

S2T got new motor and primary oil.

We are thinking a ride down South tomorrow to Penrose or Texas Creek Junction for lunch is in order.

Lynn is already packed for Springfast, I am not....

Frank and Lynn, I won't be free until probably 12:30 to 1:00pm. If y'all are planning a later lunch I could probably join you for the ride.

I made it back about 4pm. It was beautiful drive on the road past Bishops Castle. I drove slow and enjoyed the scenery and not one car ever showed up behind me.

Frank, do you mean the runs were long? ; )

Glad you and Lynn are home safe... and the girls are too, I bet!

Pictures to be posted later this evening. Right now I need to take a short rest.

Thanks for the photos, Nick.
Looks like a great time.
I'm slowly building "tenure" at High Country.
Another couple of years and I'll be able to take vacation time during the Summer.

I still can't believe they let me off for Homecoming last year.

We had a good Birthday Party Saturday, even tho it drizzled most of the day.
I toasted my rear tire and made a huge cloud.
My records have some gaps in the last year, but I think I got 8500 miles out of that tire.

Any body what to head to the Pueblo Friday Night Drags this weekend? A friend from work runs a car in it and he talked me into running my bike. I will just run for time and not race. I figure it is a more thrilling way to use up my rear tire than what Zac did!

Also Zac just got your message, thank you so much...the Avon walk for Breast cancer will be June 25-26 , and due to everyones generosity I raised over $3.120.

Have fun at camp, Lynn.

There was a really nice S1 that was hopped up for the drags last night, wheelie bars and all. He was in the 9 second territory. He left pretty early, though.

Me, I had a lot of fun even though I lost in round 1 and went on to do time only runs the rest of the night. My fastest was also my last run at 12 seconds flat. Take off is everything and that is what I sucked at. "Littlebutquick" over in the UK was running 10s on a virtually stock 1125. That tells me my bike is more capable then I am! I plan to go back next Friday night.

Lynn - all done and official. keep at it. : )

Jody - Joe(LBQ) is an anomaly. he is FASSST.
I'd be surprised if I could hit 12, congrats!!!!

Get a spare wheel and a Shinko for "Drag Nights". 15-18psi or something.
Might have to fabricate rim-lockers, you'll be spinning tire-on-rim otherwise.

Have FUN and be safe!

Another "Friday Night Drags", and my best time tonight was 12.174. A lot of fun. Had another Buell buddy on his XB12Ss running with me tonight, his first time. He did very well.

Even if you just go to watch it is a lot of fun.

Hi Jody, this is for you. Dan and I went dirt biking this past weekend for 3 days. We did just over 93 miles of trails just west of Lake George off 77 and 31. I got in one trail a little over my head and slid the bike going down and again coming up. I was almost at the top but hit a deep area of rock embedded into looser smaller rock and down the bike went. ATGATT = no injuries. Will post some pics after we get them downloaded.

The weather was great, saw a fire going on around 11 mile reservoir. I was surprised that there weren't very many people out. We're going to try to go out again with the dirt bikes in two weeks at the Painted Rock area just outside of Woodland Park. There's some really nice (easy) trails out there for me to play in.

We then have a one week trip planned in July with the Buells in Utah and western Colo. I hope it's not too hot.

John, have you been out on your adventure bike lately? We would love to own two adventure bikes so that when you see a dirt road off the main drag it's just a matter of turning off the road and off we go. The views off the road are just incredible.

Pics to come, later

Julie,
Glad to hear you had fun and all is well. I have been riding and exploring some back roads west of me lately. Still a lot of snow up high were I really want to go. Just must be patient for the snow to melt. We need to get together on the bikes (road or dirt) soon!

Hi John, we're thinking of going up to Painted Rock next weekend with the dirt bikes. It's just north of Woodland Park off of 67.

We're hoping to get out for a nice street bike ride tomorrow, Sunday, as the weather is suppose to be really nice.

I don't know who is planning on going to the Lake City ride this weekend, but I'm not going to be able to make it after all. The vendor I purchased my tires from finally notified me to let me know it was still on backorder. Ergo, no street riding for me this weekend.

Roadracingworld.com had some coverage of John FiFied's win last Saturday. Here is the write-up. I was there and it was exciting to watch. Congratulations John!

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=44887

One of the new 2011 classes is Formula 40, and it started the weekend off with a great race for the crowds. John Burr seized the holeshot on his Triumph 675, followed closely by Tim Young and Aaron Fisk, with a hard charging John Fifield just back from a morning practice crash on his Yamaha R1. Fifield made short work of the three racers in front of him, and quickly stretched out a comfortable lead. Riders were battling throughout the field, but from the back of the pack Aaron Petrie was coming on his big Honda CBR1000RR. Petrie laid down his fastest laps as he cut his way through, and as he broke into second place he focused on closing the gap with Fifield. By crossed flags Petrie was glued to the R1’s rear wheel; the two duked it out corner by corner over the next 3 laps, with Petrie pressuring constantly but unable to make a pass. The pair held those positions til the end, and as they came up the front straight for the checkers Fifield took the win with Petrie barely a bike length behind.
