Hello All, Once again I'll be hosting the Res Ride. I think this will be the 5th year, but with as much fun as we've had in the past, I lost count! Anyway, the main ride will be held Saturday May 28. We will run some of the usual routes, but XB9er, NittanyXT and myself always try to mix in a few new roads, so the ride doesn't go "stale". For the Friday early arrivals, they have stayed at the http://www.motel6.com in Altoona. There are other choices in the proximity from Courtyard by Marriott to the Econolodge. Friday night we usually get together for some kind of eats. There's a new Mexican place that just opened as well as a new Champs Sports bar. Saturday morning we will once again make a visit to http://www.tomandjoes.com/ diner for one of the best breakfasts you will get this side of the Mississippi. We will meet at my shop (550 N 5th St, Bellwood, PA 16617) around 9:00 for a 10:00 ride. I need to make a run up Tipton mountain. That road was tarred and chipped last summer and it was lousy the rest of summer. Hopefully, winter has washed most of the loose stuff off the roads. If not, there's plenty of other roads available. I need to confirm with NittanyXT on this, but after the main Saturday ride, last year we met at NittanyXT's place for Clem's BBQ. For those that came in for the Saturday ride, they could leave to go home then, usually 5:00ish. For those staying over Saturday night, we usually tried to squeeze in a Saturday night ride back to Altoona. My Sunday schedule has changed this year freeing me up for a Sunday morning ride. Tom and Joe's is "off the charts" good old fashioned real breakfast. If you want granola or health food . . stay home.  And . . . Dan . . let me get this straight . . you didn't really toss out the Mexican or a Champs as an "either or" choice . . look, in Gotham there is NO Mexican food . . trust me . even the stuff tagged as "Mexican" is pales in comparison to a Taco Bell in the Bronx . . there are a couple things you simply don't eat here . . Mexican is one. For anyone "on the fence" . . you'll never meet a nicer group of folks and if you are trying to decide take a look at a map of PA and study those funny mountains that run askew to the rest of the world . . . and then ask yourself why all those roads meander all over the place . . . it's just a good old-fashioned time across the spectrum from folks to food. Secret hint: If you can get Toona to give you a tour of his shop you'll be treated to some real craftsmanship. | ||

Court, the new Mexican place is called Montezuma's. I've not been in yet, but friends have said it's pretty authentic, and good! The parking lot is usually full when I drive by. Thanks for the kind words about my shop. You should come back this year and check out my Haas CNC machine  | ||

Dan, I've wanted to make this event in the past but my schedule just didn't allow it. I'm not that far away (New Stanton - intersection of PA Turnpike and I-70). However, I traded the 12R last summer and went waaaay over to the dark side and bought an Aprilia Mana 850GT. If you don't mind the non-Buell I'm pretty sure I can make it for Saturday this year. | ||

Plans got changed on this end and I ended up working today. Not sure what time I will get out of here but if I end up being here till 5 it is going to be putting me on the road a lot later then I had wanted. So as of right now I am not sure if I will be there but it will be a last minute decision here also. | ||
