Everytime I think about selling my XB with the special OPs pipe I get a twinge of remorse.
Just remember how refined the 1125's are. ; )
yea, beating the desert is fun and a lot cheaper than street riding.
An 80 mile day in the desert feels like a 200 mile day on the street. But at less than half the cost.
CJ, you need to get that mini-bike out and come play!

Oh, so it was YOU who bought that 9R from Nick. I regret not buying that from him. It's hard to find a clean used bike like that.

I would love to get that little dirt bike out. I have no idea how far it'll go on a tank of gas and there's no odometer to clue me in. Last time, I used my GPS watch that I run with to clock my time and distance.

I finally took the Uly up to SFHD on Saturday to get it fixed. Should have it back in a week or so. Really jonesing to ride it.

CJ, I'm riding the ST out to Phoenix for the weekend.
Maybe we can get together one of these days, I have an odometer on my bike, and know I can get about 180 miles out of a tank. Your bike should be good for a 40 or 50 mile ride at least before hitting reserve.
Any good trails up on your side of town? Mine is street legal so I can pretty much go anywhere.
Agfish, your welcome to come along if your buddy is willing to loan you a bike. ; )

He probably will let me borrow one... I've never ridden dirt before, but there is a first time for everything right? He has like 8 dirt bikes, so he would probably want to go too lol. I will ask.

There are some interesting trails and they go on for a long way. The King ranch is out this way and there are cows everywhere. We could easily figure something out.

Of course, it's probably good that you're going to Phoenix this weekend. This is the first weekend I've had to work in some time so I'm missing out on quite a bit. I was also invited to go shooting with some buddies but have to skip that for work. Kinda bummed.

Meanwhile, Adam... I'm not sure I like all those changes you made to the 9R. I'm a bit of a purist, I guess.

"Meanwhile, Adam... I'm not sure I like all those changes you made to the 9R. I'm a bit of a purist, I guess."

the only thing that I really changed out of the stock options was taking off the mirrors and adding bar ends (and that was only temporary), and adding billet shift/ brake pedals. everything else was an OEM part. I changed the color of everything due to a hit & run which f'ed up all of the original plastics. I liked the black and amber combo, so changed it up.

Agfish18,
How do you like the kimber? I'm looking at a desert warrior. Do you have a conceal carry? I go shooting at least once a week after work(real stress reliever).

I have a little bit of everything. I also have a concealed carry permit, but don't actually carry too often.

I have a Norinco 1911 that is customized: metal-life finish, videcki trigger, S&A beveled mag well with arched backstrap, checkered front strap, commander hammer, tulipwood grips. Barry Mowry did the work on the gun before he retired.

I also have an H&K Mk23 SOCOM .45, a S&W 5906 9mm, S&W 3913 Ladysmith 9mm, S&W Model 66 .357Mag, Walther P-22 22LR, Lee Enfield No.1 Mk.III SMLE .303, Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.I .303, Rock River Arms AR-15 .223, Mossberg 500 12-ga combat shotgun.

In short, you better knock before you come in. ; )

The new Kawasaki litre bike has had some engine and electronics issues... For just a little more, the BMW S1000RR is still the best bet. Keith Code switched away from Kawasaki to BMW S1000RR bikes at Cal SB School - just an indicator...

The Diavel is a real departure for Ducati... power/sport cruiser. An Italian "v-rod" or V-Max of sorts...only lighter, more powerful. I want to see one and ride one... It looks like a new class standard...everything these other bikes are not.

As for the 1125RS, the supposed high price tag is above that of an Aprilia RSV4 which is getting traction control and ABS this year. the Buell might be a tough sell. Of course die hard Buell guys will still want one. I wouldn't mind having one...

I wouldnt mind having one of the 1190Rs bikes either... I cant justify the high price tag on them though, but hopefully a more wallet friendly version will come out before long. Having said that, if I had the money for one of these, I would scoop it up in a heartbeat. They will be a collectors item (1 of 100 made) and will undoubtedly increase in value over the years. I wouldnt ever drive it in fear of damaging it, but if I was a billionaire it would be a nice piece for a collection.

as for the Diavel, I applaud Ducati for venturing past the traditional Italian superbikes (although they have before with the touring bikes and the motard)that they are known for, and creating something that is truly unique. I think it will be very marketable, but I just cant see myself on one...

What tires do those of you who ride on the track use??

Steve at Moto-Authority recommended Michelin Pilot Pures. I had previously been running with Dunlop Sportmax GP-As and liked them... anyone have suggestions?

Last season I did about 2 track days on Pirelli Scorpion Sync's. After that I switched the Michelin Pilot Power, which I liked. I may give the Power 2CT a try this year.

I've used Pirelli SuperCorsas, Bridgestone BT003R, and Michelin Power One. The Pirellis heated up quickly and had good grip. The Bridgestones and the Michelins, which have a harder carcass, take a bit longer to heat up but seem to last longer. I've had my best times on Pirellis and Bridgestones.

I've been a bit disappointed with the Power One tires - had a hard time finding a pressure sweet spot. My Power Ones went from not being hot enough to showing signs of overheating - also lots of surface shredding. Possibly my set-up and riding style but the other tires never tore up as bad.

I heard good things about the Pures but I've never used them. They are mostly street tires that also do well on the track.

I still have the Michelin Power Ones on the Buell. I will be changing back to Bridgestone BT003R Type 3 (Medium COmpound).

Depends if you want a street tire you can run on the track or a strictly track tire.

Check out this link...

Keep in mind that regular motorcycle shops cannot get the real track tires...

I have the scorpion syncs on my 1125 right now... and they are really hard for the track....more made for street use.

I have heard good things about the pilot powers, but never tried them myself. I really liked the Dunlops I was using, but apparently they discontinued them after last year??

Steve told me the Pures were plenty sticky for the track, and I take his word for it. He is also able to get both tires for me for around $240, which is definitely cheaper than the Dunlops I had last year. I may give them a try, if they dont work out...then hey, I get to try a new set ; )

Just under a month until Track day... I have a lot to do still. I am in the process of gutting my CBR, then I bought a power commander III, and still need to do my 520 conversion. hopefully I will have time to get it all done before then.

I know one guy who used his Scorpions on the track with lower pressures (like you do on track tires) and his rear tire failed... IMO Scorpions are oversold as do-all tires by (mainly HD dealers) that do not want to stock Corsa III or similar sport-bike tires. I only use them on my TT and they come in handy when going on dirt/gravel roads. However, there much better sportbike tires out there...

Oh, I know that the scorpions arent the best sport bike tire, but they arent too bad... I took my bike to SFHD to have serviced a while back, and that was the only tire they had that fit on the 1125. So far, I cant complain about the longevity of the tire for strictly road purposes (lasted nearly 9000 miles now), but I wont run them on the track.

Well, I have used Dunlops and Scorpions on my 9R. The original Dunlops were very sticky and inspired a lot of confidence, but wore out VERY quickly, less than 2000 miles on the rear.

The Scorpions are on there because of recommendations from other Buell riders. They are quite sticky and have a nice longevity that I like. I've gotten between 5000 and 7000 miles out of them, but that's often running them under normal pressures. Running them at a lower pressure will enable them to flex a bit more and warm up better. For track days, it's not bad. I run them at normal pressures on the street and in the mountains.

I've shopped a few other types of tires, but haven't found one that has had the same balance of stick and long life that I was looking for at a price I liked. Also, I think the issue with the Corsa's was size. I think they are 190/55 instead of 180/55.

The Dunlop 207 tires were not the greatest...for sure. Both the XB9R and my V-Rod had 207 tires...OK but they were already dated when HD/Buell was mounting them on new bikes. They not only wore quickly, they also developed deformities/wobbles...always cupping in the front.

There are some really good long haul tires for sport bikes out there. The Michelin Power Pilot 2CT is a 6k+ tire with excellent handling/traction; the Power Road 2CT is a 8K+ tire with really good wet traction and softer edges...great sport touring tire. I've had them on one of my bikes...seems like FOREVER.
