I would be willing to pay a little more for a customized shirt.I have been thinking about this for awhile. I see names on all the Buell forums but dont really know anyone so this could be a good ice breaker when we meet.

I know it is a bit down the road still, but if you need help coming up with designs for shirts, let me know. I do "dabble" a bit with graphic design...by dabble I mean that is essentially what I did in the Army for 4 years and I currently design web pages on the side during what little free time I currently have.

I'll let you know. Probably get around to that sometime in late June or early July. Or early August. Or two weeks before the thing. Somewhere in there. ; )

Wow... that sucks. I heard today that huge areas are without gas. All of Placitas, Bernalillo, large parts of Albuquerque, etc. Not only going to be a problem with people freezing, pipes freezing, etc., but also when the gas comes back on getting all those pilot lights relit.

Yea, I agree, your move in date can't come soon enough...
We are having tons of problems at our plant today, all cold related. I'll be glad when quitting time rolls around!

This just sucks... I'm tired of being cold this winter.

It was -15 when I got up this morning. I haven't lost heat yet, but I'm sure that it's going to happen at some point.

I wanted to post this yesterday but i havent had electricity for 12 hrs. Used candles, propane heaters and flashlights to get by. Broke out the Coleman camping gear. Its unusual to have snow in Carlsbad thats not melted by noon.I hate 120 degree summers but cant wait for warm weather.

Yeah, we were noticing the other day when the weather report was on that every reported temperature for the entire state was in the negative. It's pretty cold when Las Cruces is -1.

I got a cool neck gator for Christmas. Maybe I should go try it out. (No, Bart, I don't have any heated gear. ; ) )

i saw a complete set of electric gear on CL for $100.
That's a smoking deal for electric gloves, vest, and chaps...

This short cold spell will be the only time I would have needed/wanted electric gear though. Seems like a waste to go buy some.

Wow, You don't ride very much, OR very far do you?
This short cold spell isn't the only time or place the weather gets cold...
I ride to Phoenix every other weekend, and it gets down to 25 degrees around Flagstaff, that's cold!
I typically ride every weekend, as long as there isn't any ice, I'm out there. I don't recall seeing anyone wanting to go out riding the past three weeks. I've been out there, Where is everyone?
You may not need electric gear to ride to work and back, or to school and back. But go ahead and leave the valley for a ride anywhere, when it's 45 degrees out, and tell me if you don't need better gear.
Try riding 480 miles with the temps between 25 and 45, and then tell me that you don't need gear.
I've got 40 years of riding experience, and had my days of bundling up in whatever I could find, it doesn't work for extended rides. You NEED to keep your core warm, or you will get cold. Period...

I'm not trying to slam you, just speaking from experience...

Yeah, I don't ride far often at all actually. I live 6 miles from work and even less from school right now. Now, as far as my core, I sincerely do not need better. I have ski equipment that is wind-chill proof at 50mph and -20 degrees (as tested by skiing). My ski gloves, however, are not articulated enough to grab the shifter and brake... so I just wear thin armored gloves.

Come to think of it, the real reason I limited myself to this small section of ABQ is because my rear shock lost it's dampening. I should have a new Works in the mail on wednesday though!

Now, when it comes time to hunt turkeys and do some fly fishing, THEN I will be riding some longer distances! : p

You will LOVE that Works shock, that is what I have on my S2. Took awhile to dial it in, but well worth it.

It was 19 when I left the house this morning, and 12 when I rolled through Gallup.
It's a nice 58 degrees now, In Phoenix. ; )
I'm hoping I can beat the storms home on Monday, when I head back.

Based on the weather forecast I saw, you should be good, Bart. Hope you have a nice ride. I assume you got a new tire on the ST?

I haven't ridden nearly enough lately. I've had a lot of other things going on (excuses, excuses!). Soon I should have time.

First off... yes Bart, I am living in a rental house...and it sucks.... it is about 25 years old and in the war zone (right off Central and San Pedro). Hence my desire to move quickly.

secondly, just because I dont post on here that I am riding, doesnt mean that I am not riding... granted, I dont drive as far as Phoenix on a bi-monthly basis, but I am fine on a relatively short ride to Santa Fe via I25, then return through Madrid without heated gear. My fiancee has heated pant liners, but I have none... on cold days like the other week when I did this (started out the trip at 22 degrees, and finished around 32 degrees) I wear my Buell Bolt Jacket, jeans with sweatpants underneath, a ski mask, my Sidi race boots, and some Scorpion winter gloves. I am fine with all of that... on shorter rides (around town) I go without the sweat pants and ski mask, and typically wear thinner gloves.

I am a slightly husky guy at 6'5" and 280 lbs which makes me a little more well insulated than most...but, I am sure that I would love heated gear on a ride to Phoenix in temps constantly below 45 degrees. Just not necessary around town IMHO

Dang, my commute is only 6 miles and I use my electric gear every ride. Yes, I'm a whimp about the cold these days. I can't believe how nice it is to have that stuff. I never would have waited to buy it. If I'd had a clue about how nice it is.

Anyone else wanna go snowboarding on Sat?

there is no wimping when riding in the cold.
If your shivering, or your hands and feet are getting cold, you can't concentrate on the ride. Just common sense.
No snowboarding for me, I'm riding!!!

I wish I could! I work every weekend... I've been wondering what it would be like to strap my ski-boards to my back and ride up to a mountain. (ski boards: very small, extra wide skis. They handle like inline skates)

I haven't been skiing or snowboarding at all this year. Or last year, for that matter. I have a mandatory school thing on Saturday that's required if I want to keep teaching. So, sorry... not me.

Hall of Famer Erik Buell to speak at Motorcycle Hall Of Fame Breakfast At Daytona Fundraiser

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum is pleased to announce that motorcycle manufacturer Erik Buell will be the featured guest at its annual Breakfast at Daytona fundraiser, set for the Friday of Bike Week, March 11, at an all-new location inside the Daytona 500 Club in the infield of Daytona International Speedway.

Buell, a Hall of Famer and the innovative engineer who turned his love of roadracing and high-performance motorcycles into the American sportbike company that bore his name, will take the stage at the Hall of Fame fund-raising event to talk about motorcycles, his years running his company and what the future holds for one of America's most free-thinking bike-builders. Whether you're a fan of motorcycle history or modern motorcycle mastery, Buell's perspective on the past 20 years promises to make the 23rd annual edition of the breakfast a one-of-a-kind event.

"Erik Buell is a Hall of Famer not only for his innovative and dogged pursuit of motorcycling excellence, but also because the bikes he built were evocative and impressive enough to earn one of the most passionate fan bases in all of motorcycling," said Jeff Heininger, chairman of the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation that is responsible for raising funds for the Hall of Fame, which is on the campus of the American Motorcyclist Association in Pickerington, Ohio. "Few people have Erik's perspective on the parts of America's motorcycle history that are still being written today, and I, for one, can't wait to hear what he has to say."

Buell says he's been busy in the last year with his Erik Buell Racing company, but he's keeping his eye on even bigger things.

"For me, motorcycling has always been about the journey, about the people, about the ideas behind the machines, and it will be great to connect with enthusiasts at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Breakfast at Daytona fundraiser," Buell said. "And who knows? I may have a surprise or two to announce by then."

The Breakfast at Daytona will take place on March 11 in the main level of the Daytona 500 Club inside the Daytona International Speedway. The event also includes a silent auction of unique items related to the Hall of Fame, and an autograph session with Buell and other Motorcycle Hall of Famers.

Tickets are available for $75. All proceeds support the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. For more info or to register, please call (614) 856-2222, ext. 1234, or visit MotorcycleMuseum.org.

I've always wanted to ride down to bike week and watch the race. Unfortunately, this is not the year to do that. I'm teaching two classes during that time.

Wow, what a great weekend this has turned out to be, weather wise.
Debbie flew into town on Friday, and we headed out this morning on the XB and the CR.
We switched bikes a couple of times, just so she could see the difference between the two.
It was getting hard to get her OFF the CR towards the end of the day, LOL.
All in all, a great day for riding!

I hope you all got a chance to get out and get some ride time in!

looks like a good time! I rode over to my parents house on Saturday in Rio Rancho, I had plans to go riding after meeting up with them with another friend, but he ended up canceling and I ended up building a couple bookcases with my dad. I'm definitely doing some long riding this next weekend for the 3-day! are you heading to Phoenix this weekend Bart?
