I've been trying to get out more. Using my bike for the work commute since they are insured again. I haven't done much recreational riding at all. I'll be off Tues-Thurs, hope to go up East one of those days.

No money for track days and such this year, perhaps this upcoming Spring I'll do better. I really want to ride on that cart track so an ART class is in the works eventually.

I will have to do that next year. Sounds like a great way to get some off highway time. maybe my leathers will still fit too.

I saw a Black Uly heading east on I-80, not far past State Street last week. I was in my truck, he saw my Buell stickers and gave me a thumbs up. The Uly was traveling two up and was running secondary lights on it too. i failed to see if the bike had local plates or not.

Anybody know this couple?

Kerri and Jeff, if the weather holds good and you guys do the ART and APEX tomorrow, have fun, get what you can out of it and stay safe, please. I'm looking forward to doing some canyon carving with ya'll next year. Clutch hand surgery coming for me Nov.4th at the VA so I might make a last run on Halloween day if the weather holds for me but there's next year, hopefully. See you all then for some fun riding. Until then lets all stay in touch here and on USBA. Bob

Some nice pictures of our gal Kerri on USBA website from Steve Clark. Here:

Nice work in less then desirable weather Kerri, and it looks like you were on the Honda and the kart track. Correct? Sitting at home I wondered if you were going to be able to "hang it out" some when it cleared in the afternoon for a while. You did! Way to go gal. Hope you had a ball and even picked up some good info or at least some great seat time. Nice way to kind of end the riding season. Will you ever do a track day on the 1125?

For me its just ride when the weather permits and probably with the thermals on. Then there's next year. Hope you don't re-up and move for a while. Catch you later. Bob

Yep, Honda on the kart track. The Buell will not go on the track again...two laps was enough. Too scary and it's my commuter/canyon play bike.

The weather was atrocious, but what a learning tool! Rain, high winds (45mph)...it was rather interesting. Form is getting better. But I have a lot more to learn. I do know that I'll be taking it easier in the canyons next season. Nothing compares to the track.

I agree on all points Kerri and I'll tell you why. Bear with me its slow right now and too cold to ride this morning. HA!

In '77 the year after Reg Pridmore (Jasons Father) won the first AMA Superbike championship on a BMW R90S against much more sophisticated Japanese bikes I attended one of his racing schools at Elkhark lake in Wis. The most important thing I came away with is to never try and do, on the street, what you can do on a track, even if you can and have the required skills. Just too many variables to contend with. AND NO RUNOFF AREAS!

When we ride these fine canyons its much fun to ride somewhat aggressively but only to a certain point and never cross it or over step your abilities. THERE'S NO RUNOFF AREAS!

On another note; back then Reggie proved the advantage of handling with an underpowered bike over the greater H.P. Japanese bikes like the new Kaw Z1 at that time. Now where did he get that from? Sounds very familiar. Buell maybe?

Anyways my favorite saying is: "ride today for tomorrows ride" And without a doubt the track is way fun anytime at least with a somewhat expendable bike or car. But we're not....expendable that is.

Probably too "old school" for many but I'm still riding and having a blast. Sermon over, sorry. Bob

Short sprint ride for me tomorrow, Friday, over Trappers and up to Monte before hand surgery next Thursday. Weather looks kinda nice so I'll be leaving the Sinclair in Mt. green about 1:30-2:00. Probably the last real ride 'til next spring. Some rehabilitation for a couple of weeks and maybe a couple of mid-winter warm up rides if its dry. Join me if you would like. Later, Bob

Well, it was a great ending of the riding year with a nice ride to Monte overlook, a new friend made while at the Sinclair and home safe and sound.

Next year will be as good as ever with all the great friends we all share here on the Utah Buellers forum and USBA website.

Happy Halloween, feed the gremlins Sat.& Sunday night and watch out for the random spirits floating around. Oooeeeeahhhhh......... From the other side, Bob

Is everybody hibernating? Just kidding of course as I'm sure we're either getting our skis or boards waxed up for an early start to the downhill season or focusing on new endeavors.

For others maybe its a new bike project as I have started on. Just waiting for my hand surgery to heal some to start on a project to build a cafe racer......again. This will be my sixth since way back when.

I just need to be working on something and this is my favorite thing to do. I have bought a nice 500cc Suzuki dirt bike that should prove to be a good solid foundation to start with. Its got a great running engine and the cosmetics are not bad also. I want a minimal/simple bike for riding and servicing.

Below is a link that got me re-interested in this kind of bike project. I could also have gone super-moto type also and I wouldn,t have to do anything to the bike but I want the project/challenge. There is a huge interest gaining again in cafe racers with a new program on HD theater called simple "cafe racer" and new clubs starting all over the country. I talked to the guy starting the club below and there are just a few in it right now but he said his phone has been ringing off the hook constantly and he can't keep up with the e-mails. Check it out if you wish. No link but go on Facebook and search for Wasatch Front Cafe Riders or Mike Van Ny.

Just another project and yet another place to ride and have a little fun. Stay safe out there, Bob

On another note, sorry about making the last post just about me; lets here if any of you are planning anything special or just doing the usual maintenance of your bikes. Kind of nice to be changing or upgrading and personnalizing our rides. My 1125R is just about right for me right now so just normal maintenance on that and why I wanted another project.

And lets all try to do some nice rides next year. I know I'm looking forward to another great riding season with you all. Bob

Thanks for asking Brandon; cast is still on but doing well for a one handed guy right now. Comes off in two weeks. Should be fine and I'll be able to speed shift better. Look Out!!!

On another note I just got an e-mail today from Derek at Millers that tickets for the Superbike races are available now. I'm forwarding same. Should be another great day/weekend of racing with World SB, AMA superbike and the Lucas series. Nice!

Glad someone is still watching our Buell forum, thanks much, Bob

Anybody here interested in a Death Valley ride in Feb or March??

My wife and I did it a few years ago and it was a great ride, with great weather until we got back up to the Delta area... it snowed from there all the way home.

This time around we are thinking about loading the bike in the trailer and making for Mesquite, NV before unloading and heading into DV via the back roads around Vegas (Extra-terrestrial highway, anyone?)

Still in the planning stages, but thought I would throw it out there. We would like to take 5 days or so & maybe we could work it around a long weekend. There is room for a few more bikes in the trailer, but it might require a bigger truck than I have to pull it.

Corey

Sounds fun. I'll tell the wife and we'll mull it over. I've got the STT set up for colder weather, and have gotten a seat with passenger pillion done, so I think it could be fun.

Was that you and your wife I saw riding two up on I-80 in October? I was in my blue F150(5.4L) with Buell stickers. Would that pull your trailer?

It may have been us. My Uly is black and my wife wears a bright safety green jacket (usually).

An F-150 would pull my 16 ft enclosed no problem. I have a Jeep that pulls it OK at lower speeds; highway trips just make me nervous with the short wheelbase.

I'm interested, but not able to commit to anything yet. Took the 1125 off the road for the winter, but will have the XB running. Tempting...

I'm working on changing the burned out clutch pack on my Ulysses.

My first attempt was less then successful as it ended with the retaining spring somehow breaking loose and shattering most of the retaining arms on the clutch hub. : ( I had everything back together and started up and as I pulled in the clutch there was a large *KRAK* which I assume was the hub going kablooey.

I think the new clutch pack's OK. But, now I need a new clutch hub... well, first I need the proper part numbers. Then I think I need a hub, and another retaining ring. And a 28mm socket to fit either my impact driver or a breaker bar to pop loose the mainshaft nut.

And maybe a little better luck. Heh.

Chuck, I've got a nice long breaker bar you are welcome to use. Shall I run it to you tomorrow? I'm in Murray, right off I-15 and 5300 S. if you want to swing past my place for it. I have a locking bar for the tranny too.

Corey, I wouldn't mind pulling a trailer, if I can make the trip. so I'll just put out a tentative maybe on things for now. Just an extended cab, not a qaud/club cab on my truck.

Bob, glad you are recovering.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Hey Mike

That'd be cool, I could definitely use em. I probably won't get a chance to work on it again till the weekend and that'll just be getting the broken hub off till I get some parts. I live in Sandy and work in downtown so I could swing by and pick it up if you don't mind me having it for a few days?
