Yeah, I really need to save my pennies and get it for the Uly, otherwise, this is going to get expensive.

ahh... seems time consuming... now is this 6 hours what the book recommends? or how long it will actually take them... obviously these are two completely different measurements of time.

I had a service agreement for the wife's bike.

Any of you have extended warranties with extended service agreements?

Ed and I bought the service agreement, not the extended warranty. The service agreement covers all scheduled services for three years unlimited mileage. That's where Ed is raping them. He paid $2K and he's already gone almost 30K miles in two years. That's easily more than $4K worth of services.

Basic service... About $50 per bike (synthetic oil, Formula Plus trans fluid, filter and gaskets) and a couple of hours of my time...Did both the TT and the scg... Done.

Agfish...the techs usually get done a lot quicker than the recommended time.

I dropped the bike off at 9:00 wasnt ready until 3... it took the full 6 hours, but they did mention that there was another 1125 in for the same service. Bike seemingly runs better than before. Tech recommended I go back to the stock air filter and ditch the K&N. According to Erik Buell Racing the Stock filter allows for better airflow and that is what all of their race bikes are currently using.

Just because you dropped it off doesn't mean they started working on it right away. I've dropped the bike off on-time and went back there an hour later and they still hadn't started it... Anyway, its best they take their time with it... The bike SHOULD run better when valves and other things are adjusted.

I'm curious, did they actually have to adjust the valves? Did they put-in any new shims?

My 1125 has about 4k more to go before valve time...

I realize that they may not have started working on it right away, There was another Buell There that left a bit before mine did and his was in for the same service (I was first one in line).

You know, they really didnt mention anything about adjusting the valves, so I took it that they didnt. They obviously did a TPS reset as the throttle was a little more responsive (easy enough to do on an 1125), and it just seemed to have a little more umph, so I am not sure what all they did with it. I was surprised they reset the service counter on it... they hadnt the last 2 times I took it there.

I am taking the bike all the way up 550 to Aztec on Friday after work. My girlfriend's parents have a little place up there that they are lending us for the weekend. Saturday I am thinking about taking a ride from there into Durango, if weather permits. otherwise I will be out on their quads tearin up some mud! anyone else have plans for the weekend?

I have a long run on Saturday, but might get out to ride on Sunday.

550 is a nice boring ride. I did it not long ago on the Uly, testing gas mileage on the open road. If you get into Durango, that's not bad. The ride from Silverton to Ouray is worth it.

Hey guys,

I will heading out of Albuquerque heading to San Diego this coming weekend. Most likely 40w to the 17s, down to the 8w all the way to the end (I know its more detailed then that. It was just the jist of it all). I will be doing the trip in 2 days so I am planing on stopping over in Phoenix for the night and then heading back out Sunday morning sometime. Any Words of wisdom or advice for the first leg?

Thanks

it is a fairly boring ride, well parts of it anyway. there are a few twisties, but not many. Definitely thinking about heading into silverton/ ouray. That is a pretty ride, hopefully the weather isnt too bad.Doubt it will snow, but you never know.

Dmanchild, Just hydrate once you hit AZ... It may still be a little warm there ; )

Try this route to AZ and San Diego.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=a lbuquerque,+nm&daddr=phoenix,+az+to:Maricopa,+az+t o:San+diego,+ca&geocode=FctYFwId_6Gk-Sl7gwnT3Qoihz H99tm4zvjTwA%3BFblh_gEdy-JR-SnLeaFQ7RIrhzGsG0o1-Md pjA%3BFTpt-AEd5klS-SnjV5WpLuUqhzGwO-oMUMACBw%3BFUE y8wEdeVIE-SlLHpKtD1PZgDF53xX9_SE6DQ&hl=en&mra=ls&s ll=34.08442,-111.904745&sspn=8.330255,14.128418&ie =UTF8&t=h&z=6

I did this exact route in late June. It is kinda boring until Holbrook, then when you turn south, it get's ok. Particularly once you pass Payson. Watch for cops and speed cameras in the towns, though.

Then, the next day, I took off to CA via Maricopa south of Phoenix. Started 0600 to beat the heat. Was actually nice. There is a stretch of road just before you get to Gila Bend that is awesome. Relatively flat, but lots of curves and then some roller-coaster ups and downs. Fun.

Then it was hot and boring until about El Centro. Past there, you go from about zero elevation up past 4000 feet in about 10 miles. That cools you off fast. Coming out of that to the west, there was no sun and only clouds that week. Marine layer was in. Should be nice this time of year, but cooler at that higher elevation.

Enjoy.

Well, the weekend of the 23rd is out because I have a work thing. And the next weekend is Halloween. Not sure if that means I should go away that weekend or not. November 6th might work.

I was not planning to be at track day... only race day. I have some work I have to do that weekend and I can't commit both days to the track.

Nov 6/7th looks ok for me...so far.
We need to think about places to stay.
As long as the weather is good, the wife will ride her own scg.
