Got some of them DDM HID bulbs (55w, 5000K, will use in low beams)...will install soon (would do it tonight, but I gotta get up way too early tomorrow). Looks fairly easy, we'll see. Been riding with some folks with HIDs and it's stupid how easily they are seen by others!

Russ(Preybird1) will be out there for the ART too. He rides a cf'd X1. Motor's built on that thing too, I don't know that he'll get to enjoy that much on the cart track but maybe.

I've got my bikes parked 'til next payday, need to get them insured...

Oh yeah, he'll like it! The kart track will be great for a Buell like that...he'll have a blast flicking that thing all over the place!

Brandon, Sinclair in Mountain Green at 10:00 AM. Mike and I will be doing Wolf Creek pass with two of his buds. Should be a good day.

Kerri, have fun, Art is always beneficial and it should be a great day for us all. Bob

The ART today was......AWESOME!!!! What a great program!!! The instructors are extremely helpful and you can learn as much as you want. Perfect weather, perfect track conditions, bike ran great. Great, great day! My calves and shins are wiped, and I doubt if I'll be able to walk right tomorrow.

If you haven't taken an ART, or if you just want to hone your skills, seriously look into one of these classes. You will not regret it!!!

I totally agree Kerri, Art is always beneficial for any level rider. Which bike did you ride?

A couple of other items: on the Buell racing front, I watched Jeff May last night on the Speed channel racing the 1125RR at Barber and it made me feel great being on and riding this absolutely great sportbike. Jeff finished 6th but most of the race he was in the top three, led the race for a short time and was second for a few laps, 3rd, 4th, then got pushed off track that put him back to 6th where he finished just about .8 seconds back from 1st. WHAT A RACE! Next year, if it indeed does happen, the 1190RR WILL dominate AMA Superbike. Finally they will come around to what the American spirit and what under funded quality people can do with perseverance and dedication. Hoorah.

On my front; another great ride over Wolf Creek pass. A lot of cruising with a Yamaha cruiser and a BMW with Mike and I dicing it out just for the pure fun of it turning the wick up safely on the best northern Utah place to do just that. No mishaps and all had a great time. 254 mile run. A little warm down low but cool up on top. Love that ride.

Mike buds; Dave & his wife Jasmina on the Beemer, myself and Doug on his Yamaha cruiser

Bob - yes I do. Rode Ogden canyon, Trappers, East Canyon over to Oakley, and back by another route Saturday. Thought about hooking up with Brandon on Sunday, but had to replace struts on the truck - took longer than expected.

Jeff, nope...$200 is too rich for me right then, but I will be doing the East Track on the 23rd, and then another ART on the 24th. I'm also volunteering at the MOM races on the 9th & 10th. Come on out and see the fastest dudes in the area kick some butt!

Bob, holy cow, that was an exciting race! Geoff was certainly holding his own out there! I can't wait to see what he does with the 1190 next year!!!

Kerri, how's your buddy Bob doing? I saw some bits and pieces of a blue Ninja up there last weekend. Figured it was his.

Also.... what's the scoop on the 1190RS? Anybody hear anything new?

Brandon, he's doing alright...trying to figure out if he should buy a new one or rebuild that one. He's still in a bit of pain apparently, but he's still getting ready to do another ART or APEX trackday...

Kerri, when you talk to him again, please tell him the other Bob says hello and wishes him a "speedy" recovery and that I'm glad he's going to be back at it soon. Sometimes these things can freak you out for quite a while but I know he's tough.

Bob, he's getting along by "better living through advanced chemistry" as he puts it. He's also getting hooked up with some one-on-one track lessons from one of our local fast guys so he can learn how to control his bike at higher speeds/more lean and improve his body position.

Did a nice short ride myself to the overlook on Monte and it was really beautiful with color but had to stay focused on quite a few Elk hunters in RV's. Then a "quick" run up to Snow Basin resort. Much fun.

Lets try and get a "Buell" riders run going soon and of course open to all our friends who ride with us. Lets hear everybodys suggestions. Weathers almost perfect with these cooler temps.

It's kinda a busy month for me...I'll be down at MMP all weekend )9/10) volunteering at the MOM races. The following weekend (16/17) is a possibility. The weekend after that (23/24) is an APEX trackday and ART weekend.

What are you guys up to?

Only your response so far Kerri but I'm heading to Bonneville, as a spectator only this time, Friday for the SCTA world finals. Cool enough for great H.P. and maybe some record runs. Bob

That was years ago, here's today (below). It was really wet off track but quite dry on track. Many record runs. I'll try and figure out, with Mikes T's help, how to post a 31.1 MB file with 41 pictures tomorrow. Yet another way of fun on bikes. Hoo...rah!

Hey so on the other sections of the board there are frequently discussions about fuel mileage.

My numbers are never as good as others post up, both on the XB and the Tuber. I tend to run mid 40's around town and high 40's, like 47ish on the interstate.

How does this compare to the rest of you guys? Do I own thirsty bikes? Or do we use more fuel due to our thinner air up here in the mountains? Seems like the guys getting better mileage tend to be at elevations closer to sea level.

Thanks!

I averaged about 36mpg on my from Denver. But that was doing about 85 or so. I think it's about the same in town. I didn't get the bike for the economy and I certainly don't ride it in the most fuel efficient manner... : )
It cracks me up about these guys and all their hyper-efficient riding techniques. If I wanted an economic bike, I would've gotten a Vespa. But more power to them!

Yeah, I understand your point... I tend to use the Cyclone's throttle as more of an on/off switch, and I'm sure that reduces my fuel economy.

However, I've always thought the fuel savings in addition to the thrill of the ride; never mind the performance gains are an extra special bonus over being in the car.

Mike, my best fuel mileage on my M2 came after I had installed my muffler system, a K&N and a Buell race ECM. Sound strange? BUT after doing that I made sure I had jetted it properly. Not your case with F.I. but I would check the plug coloration just to be sure. Its a real good indication of proper fueling. If its too lean you have to open the throttle to get proper running cutting down mileage. If its too rich it doesn't burn fuel efficiently and wastes it.

On my 1125R with Buell race ECM, free flowing exhaust & K&N its better mileage when cruising but goes down quickly with large throttle openings and riding aggressively. Actually perfect fueling. Bob
