The cats were excited to see us leave.

At the hotel (The Sage Brush) in Taos

There was a BMW Rally going on... We saw them everywhere. Apparently they had about 400 bikes but they were spread out all over and we never saw more than two or three to a group. I like our Buell Rallies better.

Lynn resting in the shade (on the way home)

The Bikes taking a break as well (I am ready for fall)

The worse part of this trip is you have three choices. 285 down to 160 then to 159. 25 down to 64 or 160 to 159..

We took 160 to 159... what a boring road. (only 12 or 13 seconds)

My batteries went dead so that is all there is.

Frank

Here's what the new CR looks like now. The Scg is back to being cherry bomb red. Poor Dan, I put him thru so much. It took him a whole lot of time to do this. Had to take the back tires off and rotate them so they would be going the correct way. didn't realize it was going to be than much work. But he Loves me : )

Hey Frank, How do you have that camera mounted? I'm curious how you are isolating the vibrations of the bike, and the road...

It is a regular camera mounted with a ram mount.. It was abnormally stable at that time. It usually isn't. In fact, it generally sucks.

I snapped this earlier today, before going horseback riding. When I see these older beemers I have come to understand how much of a true "rider" they are.

BMW

Notice the gas can and the displacement? Well, the displacement for each was 600cc!

Jody, we saw a bunch of them, hacks and all. They really are functional bikes.

I know people, when they see the S2T, think it is a beemer (or a Duc)... That is, until they hear it.

A couple of XB12X riders actually made that mistake.... idiots

About the beemers, the people who ride the older models really are passionate about them, just like us Buell riders. The picture I took reminded me of the old VW bug engines with the the crank case and jugs sticking out. I'd bet a good mechanic/rider might be able to rebuild his old beemer engine on the side of the road if he needed to.

Maybe the newest XB12X riders are a lot like the new owners of a fancy BMW 1200. No real depth of appreciation for the history, just deep pockets. I can't throw stones, though, I wouldn't know half of what I know about Buell if you had not taught me!

Jody, there is a vintage bike group. Mostly Norton and Triumphs and some beemers in Colorado Springs and Denver. I work with a couple of those guys and they are great. Always willing to help and curious about Buells..

They mostly ride and restore them. They went out to Lake City for one of their meets and I really wanted to go with them but had something else going on.

They, like many Buell riders, are Motorcycle Enthusiast vice people that just ride and do not take the time to learn about their bikes.

Rode 220 miles on the buell today. Out i70, over Loveland pass to Dillon, then up to Kremmling, then to Granby, winter park, berthod pass, i70 to home. Trees are changing colors in the mountains!

Yep, fall is near. I did a good spin on Saturday down 67 until it turned to dirt then back down 105 to Palmer Lake and looped up to Castle Rock through Perry Park. Not too much color change there but when I went up to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park on Monday, I got to see the Aspens changing color. I need more three day weekends...

I went out Thursday (called in sick) and Lynn joined me Friday after work. Of course I forgot my camera so Lynn brought it out. The good thing about 11 mile and other camp grounds after Labor day is they are empty. We had the whole camp ground to ourselves save the occasion fisherman that came around. I tried to get this area all summer and it was booked solid every weekend.

Oh yeah, looks like we are eating trout for dinner.

A lot of people were fishing for Pike but I did not have the right setup and it is almost impossible from shore. Everyone has a hard time fishing 11 mile and I used to as well. From the shore you have to cast about 50 feet and the best time is dusk to dark and dark to morning when the water cools off.

I used the heater the first night as it was down in the low 30s (my guess) but very comfortable the next night.

I like that paint pony and the pretty mule. Those are some fortunate beasts to roam such a beautiful place.

Jody, we will be in your neck of the woods this weekend at the Cotopaxi KOA doing a little fishing (Saturday leaving Sunday). Slowride should be there or somewhere in that little town. Micah will be on a Honda ST1300 with two other guys on a Yamaha FJR and BMW..
