I was pricing insurance online (wife's buying a new car), and played around with different bikes - RBC Ontario insurance, same values for each bike - (pleasure use/4000 km per year/$7K value/clean record)just changed the make/model/engine size:

1999 Buell X1/S1: $1810
1999 Suzuki GSX1300R: $1642
1999 Honda CBR900RR: $1479
1999 Ducati 996S: $1182
1999 BMW R1100S: $1260
1999 HD XL1200S: $1473

2004 Buell XB12S: $1327
2004 Buell XB9S: $1187
2004 Suzuki Hayabusa: $1726

WTF? A Buell costs more then a 996S Ducati or a Hayabusa?

Those numbers are right on par with ones I recieved from Primmium and Riders Plus. I couldn't believe a brand new Busa' was less for me to insure than my X1. The Suzuki will reach speeds in third gear that my Buell can only dream about. The insurace companies don't have a freaking clue what they are covering. I was told that Buells get a double whammy.....they are an evil sportbike destined to burst into flames killing the rider, and they are also considered a Harley making them a high risk for theft. On the plus side (not that its that great of a plus) the Road Star is costing me $1100 for full coverage. Still too much for a clean driving record and no claims.

Sunday evening looks like it might be good for a ride. Anyone interested?

Lornce, errrr, ummmm or should I call you Ride Captain (maybe Skipper for short). Are you planing a ride this Sunday? I think my Mum has recovered from my attempt of escaping for a ride last weekend on Mother's Day.

Sorry.....posting after one too many Red Cap's. Jim Brickman.....your a good man!

Still like to go for a ride though...

Pretty quiet around here......

Here's a question. Chrome reduces wind drag right?

image/{Chrome = Performance?}

Lornce, what is the plan for Friday? I can pick your bike up Thursday or early Friday....whatever. One of my balls measures 2" the other is 1 7/8....Oh my! Trailer hitch balls that is! The other concern is electrical. My connecter is a 7 point, is your trailer (likely) a four point connection? If so I need to pick up an adapter or run the risk of a ticket. I asked Andrea about volunteering for track prep (cleaning). I haven't heard back from her. Not sure if they were planning to do it early Friday or what???

This explains a lot: Always thought you rode like a man with 2" chrome balls.

My trailer's rigged for 1-7/8" with a four pin connector. Can I get an adapter at Cdn. Tire?

Whenever you wanna load the bikes is good with me. You wanna come over on Thursday night to get mine and then drive out Friday morning with both bikes on the trailer? Whatever works for you.

Not sure, but John may need to put his X1 on the trailer, too. John, what're you needin?

We could plan to arrive at Cayuga for 08:30 or so which would give us time to help with track clean-up. That would put our departure time approx 07:00 to allow for a swing through Westdale for extra large Paradiso Darks.... : )

Lemme know what'ca know!

Early Friday works for me. Saves me a trip into the Hammer. John, let us know what works for you. If you need to trailer your bike, I can pick you up at Lornce's or whatever.

I've got my pit tent and other assorted goodies ready to go. Can't wait!

I "think" I can get my bike in the back of the van (new FreeStar on Wednesday), but if I can't I'll ride my bike Friday morning (or drop it off at Lawrence's Thursday?). Either way, maybe we could meet somewhere for breakfast?

If chrome WAS fast, that thing'd be pretty tough to catch.... Without sunglasses. : D

When's Kahuna gonna post pics of his new BMW with the beach bars and highway pegs?

Whatever became of our little band of mad marauding Buellers?!?

John, it should fit in the back of the FreeStar. You'll have to compress the forks to start it in. The seat mounts make handy tie-down points. Marc could fit his CR500 in the back of his AeroStar with this method. Don't risk scratching your new van if its a tight fit though. I've room for two bikes on the truck (if nesscesary) and we can fit three on the trailer.

John: If you want you could leave your bike down here and I'll drive you home....

Caboose: I'll take care of the adaptor....

We'd have to meet pretty early to do breakfast and arrive in Cayuga by 8:30. Maybe a little ambitious.... Besides, the West Town doesn't open til 07:30.... Is there anywhere else to eat breakfast? : D

Kahuna: Cool pipes. Look forward to hearing them.

Thought I'd stop in and say howdy. I sure miss the trips to Lake Nipising for the mongo Northern Pike and Walley. They call me a Texan now, but I grew up in Erie, PA. God bless Canada. I never had anything but a great time and never met any but good people up there. Met a girl once too. : D

Y'all looking forward to the long Summer days?

Hey Blake,
Good of you to drop in! How're things in Texas these days? Heating up for summer AND the coming political showdown, I'm sure. Heard your former VP on the radio news this evening while driving in my car and man, was he stoked! He had me cheering and whooping in traffic and I NEVER respond like that to political speeches. : D

Erie Pennsylvania, I'll be danged. If you look really close at the pictures of Caboose tearing up Lake Erie on his CRF450, you can see Erie PA on the far shore.

If you're ever back this way for the fishing be sure and let us know. Would be great to show you around. Back in '82 I landed a 36" northern out of Lake Nippissing and four months later ran my Can-Am ice racer on it. Not a bad combination, really.

My time in Texas was marked by good and friendly folks too, just like most everywhere else I've been in America. Guess all the flim-flammers get shipped off to Washington! lol.

Stay tuned, we may have some good track action photos to post after the coming weekend.

Take it easy, eh, and drop in any time you have the notion.

best,
Lornce
