Well there you go. And traditionally we have folks who'd like to split hotel rooms, so if you need a roommate, let us know.

We're going for a ride tomorrow (Monday) if anyone is interested. Try to scope out some of the rally routes. Leaving from Rio Rancho between 0830-0900. Call me or email if you are interested in tagging along.

Took a ride with Ed yesterday and made the mistake of not having a really good plan. Thus, we took a meandering ride to wherever.

We started out going up US550 to San Ysidro.

carhauler

I thought I was being cool taking a photo from the bike while moving 75mph. Tougher than it looks. Did get a shot of Ed though.

We went up NM4 through Jemez Springs and the Valles Caldera. There was a bit of construction at the Caldera itself, so we pushed past a bit and stopped at a wooded pullout.

From there, we decided to go around Los Alamos via White Rock and find lunch. Unfortunately, we went to Espanola. After lunch, we decided to hit the high road since NM76 was about six feet from the restaurant. Unfortunately, once we passed the really nice section above Chimayo, we hit construction.

It looked to me like they were taking the curves out. Seriously. Part of it was one way dirt and we were following that camper. Sucked.

As soon as we could, we passed. Unfortunately, this put is right in the crosshairs of Trooper O. Sanchez as he was coming the other way on NM76 between Truchas and Las Trampas. 70 in a 40. Luckily, he was in a forgiving mood and we both got verbal warnings. As he's pulling away, I'm thinking to myself, "Why would it be a 40mph zone? We're in the middle of nowhere. Should be 50mph at least."

Once up the high road, I pulled off to enjoy the scenery. This is an interesting panorama shot my camera does on the fly. I almost put it together correctly, too.

Then I got the little tripod out and took a self portrait of Ed and I with the bikes. Didn't notice that grass until too late.

Once we got to Taos, we didn't even stop, just turned south on NM68 and took the low road all the way back. Sorry no photos there. We did stop at Tesuque for gas and they have a really good view from there.

Then home. Nearly 300 miles. Not bad for a day off with no plan.

By the way, getting the photos to the appropriate measurements and file size is a huge pain in the a$$.

Looks like fun ride... you guys look like you're making a pictoral documentary... I see you use the same Valero as I do on 285.

I was on my favorite roads on Sunday... Rt 75 and Rt 318 from Dixon to Sipapu to Mora and baack. I only saw about five cars on the road... It was great. No pics - too busy on the twisties - especially on the 500lb (heavy) German machine. The worst part of the ride was Espanola... maybe they can spend some money and build a by=pass road around that town.

Monday afternoon was a track day.

Someday the sun, moon, and stars will align and a larger group can get together for a ride - like the old days.

BTW: I noticed the high road was torn up for about 4 miles just past Chimayo (going north).

Yes, Nick, I agree. Espanola needs a bypass.

Murrae told me he was going to the track and I assumed there'd be a few guys there. What's the cost of that up to? Last time I was there, Memorial Day, it cost me $80 for two hours. They were charging per bike, when I thought there was a flat fee per hour that could be divided among the participants.

Meanwhile, the sun, moon, and stars are aligning here:

You really need to come out for that. I moved it away from the race weekend. Bring your wife and her bike. Bring your son. Bring your friends and neighbors. It's going to be fun.

Yes, it goes to your email. It's pretty handy. That way they don't sit around getting old without you knowing they exist.

Question for any of you with the 1125R...or any Buell for that matter. I have been having some issues with my rear brake lately, and I dont know if it is my boots or the brake. Twice in the last 2 weeks my rear brake has locked up on me for a few seconds causing my rear tire to squeal. I am not sure if it is my boot that is pressing too hard on the pedal, or if the brakes are just locking up.

If it is my boot then my rear pad isnt gripping very well, and may need to change them. As I am coming to a stop by pressing the rear pedal, the bike doesnt seem to slow as much as it used to, just starts squealing. Any thoughts?

The rear brake clamps down on both sides with one piston. It slides the pads on the pins that are on the bottom of the bolts. It does this by having parts slide on pins that are on the bottom of the two bolts outside of the caliper.

Apply grease to the pins to ensure movement. You will need to take the brake caliper off to do this and also check for dust build up on the piston itself.

Thanks for the input... I took the caliper off and cleaned it with some brake cleaner... I greased the pins and is still not quite the way it has been running. I ordered new brake pads all around. my front ones are squeaking a little and getting close to the ware mark, and my rears are close to the mark as well... Have any of you heard of buffing the rotor when you get new pads? I had a friend tell me that he has heard the rotor needs buffed when pads are replaced.

When I did my front pads last year I didn't buff the rotor. Still breaking fine.

I might try and grease the pivot point on the break peg as well, might help.

I've heard of guys, mostly on Ulys, getting some sort of build up on the front rotor. They apparently take some sand paper to the rotor, unknown what grit, and smooth it out. I've never done it and never felt a need to do it. 25K on my Firebolt and 5K on my Uly.

Murrae said I should take a scotch brite pad to my front rotor when I dropped it off last week at SFHD. I am gonna email him after this weekend and see if I need a cleaner of some sort.

I'll bet you don't need it. Just use the pad all by itself.

So, anyone who might be interested, there is a charity poker run this Sunday to benefit a kid that Anthony grew up with. The kid needs a new kidney and they're raising money to send him to Sacramento for the surgery. Not to expensive and for a good cause.
