Nah man, taking advantage of the lower interest rates. Suntrust is gonna drop it by 1.25 percent.

Charlie,
In a surpise move my plans for Winter include removing all chrome and getting it powdercoated or electroless nickel plated.
I honestly don't like all the chrome on this sucker cause its too much maintenance.
Gonna go stealth mode for that dark, flat finish, sinister look.

Yea, I like that look.I've had several nickel plated race frames and I love'um. They say it weakens the frame, but I still like it.
You need that Night Rider fairing to go with the look.
Are you changing the pipes out? And what about the wheels and what about the motor and, and, and.

Initial plans are to have all the chrome engine covers plated which will match the overall color scheme better than the gaudy chrome. Next will come a set of brushed aluminum cans with ceramic coated headers.
The wheels aren't to bad cause the front one is anodized flat silver and the rear looks like brushed aluminum.
I would like to tear this monster down and get the frame coated flat silver or black but the budget doesn't allow for that at the moment.
Ultimate goal = Silver and black throughout with matte finishes on the engine covers, pegs, grips bars, frame, and triple trees.
Somehow this beast is too much for the yellow and black scheme .

Sounds awesome Jaxson, everybody is going to think your an "Oakland Raiders" fan for sure. Maybe a black leather jacket with a big "Ole Pirate" patch on the back and one of those new trick face shields with a patch over one eye(transparent of course) Man you would look "Badass".

Badweb down for two days, so what's been going on? I have been advised to NOT use lawnmower grade fuel in the KTM. Something to do with fouling the plug and whatnot. Apparently I need to make sure it has oil before riding too.
I have lots of work to do so I better get busy. NUTS

Jaxson I have a spring wrench for the BMW and Levi at RVHD said he'd be happy to adjust it for you if you ride over; he's off on Tuesday though.

Jacqui, All I know is the name is Dr. Stewart and the number is 874-4699. They were purchasing some used equipment from my wife's work and that's how I heard about em. Might not have even set up shop yet. Certainly worth a call though, maybe you'll find a kindred spirit of the reptile sort.

Didn't get to the moto-x track but did a little bit of woods riding and was tempted by a pipeline trail. I need to adjust the suspenders, change the plug, oil and filter, plus new bars and grips before the next go. NUTS

Oh hoh! This makes a bit of sense now. Looks like the good Doc has left his former practice in the hopes of firing up his own shop.
Wish it woulda been sooner. I got one currently checking out due to egg binding complications that woulda been easily resolved with one shot of Oxytocin about a month ago. He's a day late and a dollar short to help this one unfortunately.

Glad to hear the woods riding went well. Thing already sounds like a money pit

Charlie, It apears that a previous owner of my Katoom rode the bike without a skidplate and found a rock to knick the bottom of the case. That knick apears to be weeping very expensive synthetic oil onto my garage floor.
Can I drain the oil completely(however long it takes) and attempt to have the cast aluminum welded or apply some type of jb weld type product? NUTS isn't happy to say the least and wasn't planning on doing a rebuild of the bottom end for a VERY long time but what else can I do?

The damn thing might as well be "egg-bound".

Nuts,
I'm a big believer in JB Weld, but it has to be done right. If it was a cover I'd sat piece of cake. However a case is a little tougher. A lot depends on your surface area and if you can get to it. A couple of crevices would be good to build from but if not can still be done.As long as it's not stressing from a motor mount or other attachment.(I repaired a clutch cover crack the size of a donut and I'm still using the cover today, with a new one on the shelf)
It's best if you can drill out the crack(to keep it from running) But on the case I would hesitate unless first attempt failed.
You are going to have to elevate the crack to where it won't seep. Lay it down, turn it upside down, whatever. Clean, sand if you can to get bright metal. Flush with Brake Kleen and let dry. Mix small amounts of JB and do in two or three layers. Give each layer several hours to dry.Last one a couple of days, then hit it with some spray paint to keep the crud from eating at the edges. Upright it, put the oil back, fire it up and see if Lady Luck still loves ya.

Nuts,
If you wanna go through the trouble call around and find someone familiar with using 4043 rod. Should be a permanent solution for ya'. If the cases are magnesium you need to find someone who has AZ101 rods.
Timely reference to the egg binding. She checked out day before yesterday .
Oh well I guess we both knew the chances we were taking with our chosen hobbies

Nuts, be VERY CAREFUL who you let stick a rod to those cases. One bad move and you'll have a hole big enough to stick your hand in.
The JB Weld will either work or not, but it won't harm what you have. You can weld an external piece on a whole motor, but unless your going to dis-assemble the cases your risk of ruining them is extremely high.

Nuts,
I agree with Charlie on that one. You need to search for someone who is a master of TIG. If done right it'll look great, if done wrong you'll be looking at your crank

Todd said to JB weld it and being the proprietor of a weld-happy shop I thought he'd have said weld away.
I sent a pic off to an ex-racer and current pro-welder. We'll see what he says. When the time comes for a rebuild I'll surely get it fixed right, might even spring for a new case. I saw a whole new motor for $2600! NUTS

Only thing about JB Weld is it has a odd habit of popping off of flat surfaces when not built up from a brace or mount. Prolly not a huge deal in your situation but if it has an actual leak and pops off in the middle of nowhere you gonna have problems.
Does Todd TIG? I can understand him not attempting it if he has a mig or arc setup but in truth a professional welder proficient with a TIG setup should be able to do it with relative ease. On my second custom build I used 4043 to fabricate a 3 piece aluminum fender and never blew through once and that was 16 gauge material. Made some knarly looking puddles that I had to grind though. On the flip side I kept blowing through the steel gas tank using a MIG setup so go figure. If a clumsy dork like myself can do that then a pro really shouldn't have a problem with something as thick as a case.

Nuts and Jax's, another thing that is a possible danger is warpage and you won't be able to correct that if it happens. JB is by far(IMO) the better choice.
