A few months ago I tried to talk to the folks in Syr about trading in my Uly towards an 1125R and they would not even talk to me at all.

STHD in Binghamton is out of the Buell business also. They have a left over X and 2 used Rs on the floor. They will sell parts and do maint. type work, but can no longer do warranty work.

I spent the day there yesterday and was told all of this from the salesman who has sold my wife and me our last 3 bikes. Oh, he also told me that they were sent a 2010 Blast that they still had in the crate that they are sending back. I saw the crate, but not the bike. I asked if it was badged with the Buell name, but he didn't know as they won't open it.

This leaves Syracuse in the central New York area for Buells, as far as I can tell. At their shop they have an "under new management - a kinder, more friendly management" campaign going right now. We will see.

I bought my Uly at Performance. Been treated well for the most part. Certainly not the same as if I purchased one of the chrome sleds, but have no major complaints.

I have learned not to go into the Service Dept "knowing" what I want though....... It is tough when you know more than the 16 y.o. looking service adviser about your ride.

I passed a black X or XT today between Chaumount and Cape Vincent on 12E. I was on my red XT. It was alone and I was traveling with another bike.
Anyone here?

Sunday, rode my black x from Rome to Lowville, up812 to 3 East about 15 miles then 2 lane county rodes and some dirt roads to Parishville. Spent the nite there with some friends then Monday rode to Potsdam for breakfast then back roads to Whiteface. Rode the toll road to the top then back roads over to 9 then South to Cr-84 then West to Newcomb. Stopped there at the town park for a while then rode on to Long Lake, Indian Lake, Speculator, Poland, then back home to Rome. Nice putt but was a little alarmed that some trees are already changing and some are even dropping leaves in the road. I hope this doesn't mean an early Winter. I was riding my black X with bags and my extra fuel cell mounted in place of the trunk. Kinda easy to spot. I think I saw one red Buell riding with some other bikes but it was only a fleeting glance as we passed at speed in opposite directions.

A Yellow X-1 cruised through the Land of Oz today at 3:30 PM, turned onto Lakeport Rd. Anyone here? I post whenever I see a Buell go by, as there are none that I know personally, but do see them from time to time.

October 23, I took home my new 2009 XT. $8499 + tax, title. I absolutely love it! So different than the 12R, but yet so similar. I'm still riding, the weather has been very cooperative. Out your way today, Roadcouch. Ran rt. 13 from Chittenango to Caz. Love that stretch of road. Treefrog, heal well. Maybe we can all meet up in the spring.

Richard, you were looking over the XT the day I bought my CR. (My wife was with me.) It was her idea to buy another one. I couldn't disappoint her by saying no. I also have an 08 XT. It is a great bike.
My knees are shot. This was my 5th knee surgery. Chalk it up to Army life.
See y'all in the spring.

Mike, I kinda remember you and your wife being there. I had stopped by the dealership on Sat. but didn't hang out because I didn't recognize any of the employees. I came back on Monday and further checked out the XT. My wife and I had already talked about getting one in the spring. With the chance of getting one new next year approaching nil, she agreed readily to buying it now. The discounted price of course, made the decision easier. I made the deal Tuesday and picked it up on Friday 10/23. My wife loves riding with me and the Firebolt leaves a lot to be desired as a 2 up bike. The Uly is great in that regard. Have been splitting time on the two, postponing winter storage until the last.

Hey TREEFROG,
Is drum making us take the sport rider course now? If they are do we have to pay for it? Not that it wouldn't be a great course but I hate how the military is making it so hard to ride now days. You should see the hoops that the 1st cav guys have to go through just to ride on post. BRC, ERC, SBC, a mentor group ride then the BDE COL signature on a safety packet just to get a post decal. Then they have a mentor ride once a month to keep your riding privilege. Keeps the unmotivated from even trying to ride.

Looks like my summer riding is shot this year so ride some miles for me!

I am a disabled vet and have an ID Card so I can use base facilities. I have a decal on my car but had not bothered to get one for my bike. I would like to stay at some MWR facilities this summer while traveling by motorcycle so last week I called pass & ID MPs at Drum to ask if I needed the MSF BRC or if the MSF ERC would suffice to get the decal and they told me that the ERC would work. But may be they have different rules if you are active duty.

Trapper, Rotorhead and I are both active duty stationed at drum. The sportbike course (SBC) is a relatively new safety course that the military has come up with because of the number of sportbike riders in the military. If you already have any MSF course, you are good to go, but for brand spanking new bike riders just getting their licenses, they must get the BRC first.
This year is the first year the SBC class is being taught at drum.
Rotorhead, it is not mandatory at this time, but it is heading that way if you own a sportbike. It's a one day course and is free. The new motorcycle training range got validated late last year and all courses, BRC, ERC, SBC and the Lee Park's Total Control will all be taught there. As soon as work will allow, I am taking the SBC and will take a Total Control when I can get one. The BRC is already full out through June.
I spent about 30 minutes on the simulators today during lunch. They aren't perfect, but they are great for what they are.

Been seeing a few Buells around lately. White Firebolt (I think) last Friday afternoon in Tully, a black Uly w/Aluminum panniers in DeRuyter (maybe Hogrider?) and a black Uly (HB bags) today on Rt81 in North Syracuse. Buell gets murdered and suddenly I'm seeing Buells all over CNY....

Hope everyone is having a good Spring (it's finally feeling like it anyways).

Wil, That was me in Tully on the Firebolt. I had to hustle home (already late) or I would have followed you into the school lot there in Tully. Having followed this site for awhile, and based on deductions (BRAN), I thought it might have been you. Might meet you again when I have time. You're right - I literally have never seen another Buell while out riding until this spring. I saw you Friday, and on Sunday there was a black Lightning with a group of sportbikes in Lafayette. I often ride from south end of Syracuse down to Rt.80 and east or west from there.

Cool, yup that was me. Daughter #1 had a track meet. I'll keep an eye out for ya. I'm in Rt 80 corridor all the time. Didn't recognize it was a Buell behind me until after the light on Main St, you were hanging back a bit and I always have my head on a swivel going through town (especially with precious cargo on back daughter #2). The girls like getting picked up from practice/meets on the Uly.

Treefrog,
The wife said negative on the additional bike in the garage. Take that Sportbike course. It was fun to put the bike through the paces and it wasn't a clutch burner class.

Anyone headed to Americade this weekend? I'm looking for the roads they use for the VT passes tour. I think I have an idea of the roads but I'm riding with family that tends to shy away from the good twisties. I trying to plan a route for them to stay on the cruiser roads and I meet them on the other side while I take the good roads.

Rotorhead, talk to Tom Woods up in the Safety office. He actually serves as a tour guide during Americade for one of the Goldwing groups. He may be able to provide you with some good info.
I'll get the sportbike class when work allows. Hopefully, before the riding season is almost over.

Leaving for Homecoming in one week as well!! Excited about the whole trip, and a bit apprehensive as well. Haven't done a lot of 2-up riding, and there's the luggage factor as well. Have travelled quite a bit so the routing and planning part is ok.
We're leaving Tues. morning aiming for London, Ontario. Wednesday will get us to Ludington, MI. Thursday a.m. onto the ferry to Manitowoc and down to Alpine Valley sometime late afternoon.
It'll be stunning to see all the Buells and I hope to meet many of the names I've become familiar with from BadWeb. Racing Red 09 XT - if you tell me I have a headlight out I'll hit the high beams and driving lights and ask which one. See you there!

Passed a blue Lightning last night on Rt 81 south-bound on the way back from the Daks. I went by somewhere south of Sandy Creek and who ever it was hung behind me till they exited at Rt49 Central Square. Anyone here? I was hurrying a bit to get home, wasn't being rude......
