Sorry Bob...it was a last minute thing. Brad said he was going out in the evening for a local jaunt, but that buddy of his backed out and another one chimed in saying he'd go. We did old Snowbasin Rd then a nice, spirited flight up Monte to the far gate and back. We stopped at the Oaks for dinner. It was nice! Monte was perfect...except for the random sheep in the road and one deer.

How about we all do East Canyon EARLY, about 10:30-11:00 am this coming Sunday? Its gonna be pretty hot later. I don't see anything else going on yet. Our usual route but all the way over the top to Little Dell reservoir and back. Lets hear from anyone that would like to go. Bob

There's a big Bear Lake/Logan Canyon ride this Sunday over on the UT SBA site. Thought it might be interesting to check it out. The were going to go out I-80/84 and out to Evanston, but I was going to just go out Monte and meet them in Woodruff.

I wasn't aware of the Utah SBA ride, but I had already planned on making the Bear Lake ride. Might re-think it now.

Checked out USBA site group rides and lets do that Kerri & Brandon. I'm up for that. What time frame you thinking about for leaving from the Sinclair in Mt.Green? Again, its gonna be hot later! Might be somewhat better with a smaller group of our own and then hooking up with the others down the line. Hope non-members will be welcomed. With what we ride I believe we will. Lets hear your ideas and we'll watch for updates on their site. I'm easy, HA!

It's open to everyone...no admittance fees or nuthin'! I'm thinking meeting at the Sinclair at 0900 would be good. That'll give us enough time to shoot up Monte and out to Woodruff to meet the others.

What do you guys think?

Mike, the # I got off the web sight for Corp. Susp. is (801)597-2826,the # you have is his old work # (day job),I called that # and was given his new work # but was told he was on a leave of absense.I called the # from the web sight again and got an updated message,he is recovering from a severely?broken ankle and won't be available 'til august. That really sucks,I broke my wrist a few years ago and was laid up for five months,I still have the plate and six screws in my wrist. Meanwhile I'm back to doing my forks myself, someone asked what torque I needed to set,I checked the instructions,it calls for 30 in/lbs So if any of you have one that will work I would be willing to meet somewhere to borrow it. The ride sunday sounds like fun,I'll have to see whats going on at home this weekend, maybe I'll be able to make it.

So there it is...0900 @ the Sinclair...stop at the gate (on the other side of Monte) and meet up with everyone (or watch them go by and then play catch up). Cool?

How long a ride is that time wise? Early departure times are better for me on Sundays so maybe I can make it.

Robert, thanks for posting that # and info, now I can update my phone!

The plan is to ride Monte up to Bear Lake and to Merlins in Garden City. Then go through Logan Canyon. Some folks are going to continue through Logan and slab it back south but others are going to go back through the canyon and back the way they came. So it could be anywhere from 4-6 hrs, I'm guessing...

Kerri, I missed your message just before 1700 hrs but a very definite "yes" on our ride Sunday. You figure on a stop at the overlook (wide pulloff) on Monte to wait on the other riders from USBA or just go on to Woodruff. Its a fairly long ride so a couple of short stops might be good. See you all early Sunday. RYOR on this trip is to be well informed. The pace can vary considerably. Anybody else coming? Bob

Yup, we're going to stop on the OTHER side of Monte...by the east gate. I figure we'd let the other guys go by (if they do) then just go at our own pace and let them be the LEO fodder.
We'll stop again in Woodruff for a top off. Then again in Garden City at Merlin's for lunch, and top off again. My plan is to do a west then east run of Logan then head back down through Woodruff back through Monte to home. Some of the group will just keep going through Logan and slab it home on I-15.

Really nice ride yesterday everybody with many new people/riders to meet. Nice group and everybody stayed on track and focused for having so many together. Glad everybody got home safely and I think we all had a great time. Merlins maybe needs a few more hands dishing up chow but nice get together in the parking lot, and nice pictures Kerri. A great ride all together!

+1 Mike, and I hope we can also take time to remember all those who served this country to keep it safe and secure in these trying times in one way or another no matter how its done. Scouting is but one great way. There are many ways. I'm proud and humbled to have my name on the monument pictured below with some who gave much more then I did with my short military service. Happy Independence day all, stay well and stay safe always. Sp4 E-4 Bob Thompson, Army '60-'63, (retired of course).

Very cool Bob & Mike! Been quiet for me so far...which is nice. Might go for a ride tomorrow...nothing epic...just a chill/decompression ride.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

"Might go for a ride tomorrow...nothing epic...just a chill/decompression ride."

Right on there Kerri. I did just that today, Sunday, with a nice get together of us "older gentlemen", as has been noted on the last ride with the great people of the USBA, at the Mt. Green Sinclair and then a lone ride over trappers and up Old Snow Basin road and back. Nice! Totally stress relieving while being rejuvenating. Hardly any cager traffic but a lot of sprocket heads. Sometimes its nice to ride alone and in your own zone as in "Zen" motorcycling. Back home to a nice roast beef dinner, a glass of Reunite Lambrusco and now kicking back and watching MotoGP in Barcelona. Perfect ending to a perfect day. Adding to my Karma.

Lets think about doing East canyon soon. Stay well and safe all and have a great 4th. Bob

Almost forgot from Erik Buell Racing Facebook:

"Erik Buell Racing Good results testing at Road America. Used the endurance race to test significant changes that required a lot of pit time to swap parts, but Geoff took the lead back each time. Much faster than anyone else in the race, but pulled out near the end to not mess up the points standings for the regulars. Then some people commented that we must have broken, so the team went out and won three of the short races. By a lot". "More then a minute",Bob.

More good Karma for Erik Buell Racing and the Elves. What integrity to pull out to save points for the regulars. And against all comers as Lucas Superbike GTO rules states: "any displacement and any origin", thats it for rules. Up against all European and Japanese superbikes. I am really proud to be on the best sportbike made. Bob

Well...I lied. Epic would be one way to describe it...I met up with one of my buddies and we took off up Monte, passed a horrendous overturned pick-up accident, then out to Woodruff, south to Evanston for a quick lunch. Then up 150 to the Uintas and snow flurries, yes, snow flurries, but we missed the heavy rain, fortunately. Then a short jaunt up 84 to East Canyon. Nice, but up at the top we met a dude on an old '74/'75 Honda 750 cafe racer. Seemed like a nice enough guy. He took off and we left maybe 15-20 minutes later and came upon another wreck scene. Someone had gone off the side and it wasn't good. Turns out it was that guy: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700045630/Motor cyclist-injured-on-canyon-road.html
My buddy & I were pretty spooked after that so we just took the shortest route possible back to the highway and home.

Overall, it was a good day...extremely diverse scenery, very diverse weather, great roads, good friend, and some bad luck...

Lessons learned? Ride your own ride; be prepared for anything; dress for the crash; if your head's not in the game, park your bike.

Amen.

Feeling bad about your ride Kerri, but sometimes its a reminder of just how focused we need to be. 110% at least. But glad you enjoyed some part of it. We have to be in the "zone" the whole ride. Especially East canyon. Tight and twisty, Nice! But challenging. Focus, focus, focus. If you can't be, stay safe at home. Period.

"Lessons learned? Ride your own ride; be prepared for anything; dress for the crash; if your head's not in the game, park your bike." A second AMEN on that. Glad your safe. Later, Bob

Thanks much for the nice invite CJ. I don't know how many from here would be interested but for me I would love to do Durango to Silverton, CO. up 550. I have heard and seen some videos and it looks outstanding. I'd want to trailer there though and ride from somewhere in your state with you guys. But, again for me, time constraints will not allow it this year. You guys please stay safe and have a great rally and ride. Bob

Bob, I sure would have liked to meet you at the rally but understand the time constraints... When you get ready to ride 550 let us know....

I hope some of the Utah Buellers can make it. It is a lot of fun with great people.
