Hey guys. I figure since I'm gonna be transfering to Chicago soon I'd introduce myself. My names John, I'm 29. Been on a bike since about 10. Do a couple trackdays here and there at Heartland park in Topeka, KS. And some at Mid-Ohio back when I lived in Detroit. Been riding buells for about 5 years. Have just about every tool needed to fix one too. Lol. I currently on an 09 firebolt with a ton of aftermarket stuff done to it. I don't know exactly when in moving but it will be sometime over the summer. Just waiting on the word from Ford. I currently hang out in the KCLW(Kansas City least wanted) area. I see you guys are pretty active as a group which is awesome. I hope I get to meet some of you guys when I get there!

On a different note.... Anyone know somewhere to live that's in a nice area to the south of the city that has a garage? Lol I'm thinking somewhere in northern Indiana. But I'm also good with somewhere in IL would be cool too. Thanks for any help.

John,
Welcome to the Windy City Club website! Our monthly meeting is the first Thursday of each month at IL H/D 1300 S. Harlem Ave in Berwyn IL. Meeting starts @7PM and ends at 8:30PM at times if the weather is right we ride out for some snacks and beverages after the meeting. Many great stories, friendships and bench racing too. The "Buell Family" is definately alive at this outfit and will be for a long time.

As for locations, try Will, Kendall, DeKalb and western DuPage counties in IL for residences with acerage/storage capabilities. The closer to the city the smaller the lot size storage capaciities.

All the best,

Keith K

I just noticed that my 08' 1125r is leaking some sort of fluid out of the right hand side of the engine which from what I can tell is the tell tale signs of the dreaded clutch weep. I've wiped off the little dribble of fluid that was there and will be watching it VERY closely to see how serious of a "dribble" it really is. Anyone in the area experience this problem with their 1125r/cr? It's still under warranty and as far as I can tell that is something that is generally covered so that is the good news. The bad news is it's were just getting into good weather and I don't want to be without a bike. Anyways... that's beside the point. If anyone has experienced this and had their bike worked on at a dealer they can recommend that would be awesome. Also let me know if the fix worked. From what I have read sometimes it doesn't take. IL HD is definitely the closest dealer or Glenview but wouldn't bat an eye at running all the way up to Woodstock or McHenry. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Chimobadbuell,
Talking to my lead Buell tech, the clutch "weep" was a known issue on the early 1125s, actually was "designed in" as a vent hole. There is an update that cures the problem although it's not a "free" recall. If the bike is still under factory warranty it can be covered under that, otherwise it will be a customer paid repair.

Sam,

You are the man! That is exactly what I was looking for. Everybody else, thanks for the recommendations. By the way I am Steve. I am a fairly new Buell rider and I have loved the ride so far. I am looking forward to taking part in some events and getting together to ride and shoot the breeze.

On a completely different note... I saw mention in a previous post about a WCC Facebook page but looked and couldn't find one. Does such a thing exist? I did find a WCC website but it seems that it hasn't been updated in quite some time. Is this message board the Only/Best way to keep up to date on whats going on with WCC?

Thanks again for the advice! Sam, I will be contacting you soon.

Welcome to the area and the WindyCityClub board Steve. Be sure to stop by my desk and introduce yourself when you come by. I'm here Tues-Sat open to close.
I'm afraid the "out of dateness" on our website is my fault, just didn't get to the calendar yet this year.
Of course I could blame it on the webmaster, oh yea, that's me too.
As far as really being up to date on what's going on with rides, etc the guys here are always planning things on the fly.
Stop in for one of the WCC meetings soon, they're the first Thurs of every month, next meeting is June 3rd, here at the dealership, 7:00PM

Fellow WCC'rs,

Welcome Steve! A little recap of the May meeting.
Dana, Frank,Mark, Paul, Mike, John, Steve, Tim II and Keith on hand to hear about the great ride enjoyed by all at the Slimey Crud Run. Mike K had the bike hauler there to get 5 Buellers to Crud ride off point. We all heard about the great weather, wonderful roads despite some occasional gravel and a LARGE Buell turn out to the ride to Pine Bluff.

Speedy, Gave us a humorous detail of his big ride out to Kansas for his first race of the season. All in all after NINE races, Two 3rds, 3 5ths, and one each at 7,8,10 and 11th places. Then the long ride home. Oil pump probs put his Thunderbolt out early on Saturday, so the back up tuber brought Bob around to display his talent to earn those spots. See the IL H/D website for photos and more details. Speedy's next race is this weekend at BlackHawk Farms try and ride out and give some support.
Steve Holland informed the group of a Motorcycle museum near St. Louis worth seeing and the adjoining restaurant has great eats as well! MotoMuseum and the Triumph Grill.

Let's try and make a few Wednesday night rides from IL H/D at 7PM check out the website for details.

Anyone interested to heading Springfield for the Mile over Memorial Day contact Paul (Lastcyclone on BadWed)

Next meeting June 3rd 7PM IL H/D Ride well,

Keith K}}}}

Hi all...Saw something today on road that I wondered what was goin' on. Avoiding 290, I was s/b on 294(tri-state) at the Irv. Pk. Rd. oasis, and on the left shoulder, under the center pier of the oasis bldg. itself, in the dark shadows at about 11:30 am Sunday sat a state m/c trooper standing next to his hog taking pix/lidar/radar with a small device about size of point&shoot camera. Only noticed him as I passed cuz of the small flash in the shadows. Just fyi/curious...another revenue source for the tapped out state? Steve

It's about time for the 620 mile service on my 1125CR. What have you guys been paying for this @ IL Harley or any other Dealership? I wouldn't mind paying the dealer doing it, but I just don't want to get ripped off for a glorified oil change. I've already changed the oil and filter once [@ ~100 miles go get the metal out] so I know what's involved. Just want to make sure I have a nice service history.

-Alex

p.s. Anyone else going to Road America? I hope you see this post since the advanced per-order prices end very soon!

Hi all, we were busy bicycling this weekend, and doing other things, so we didn't get out on the Buells. I too might not be able to make it to the meeting this week. Mike will be at Road America so he won't be there. Should we cancel? Keith or Frank would you want to run the meeting if I can't make it? I should know by the end of today if I can make it.

Fellow WCC'rs,
I can make this month's meeting but I may be screaming into the IL H/D Parking lot @ 7PM or minutes after. I feel we should connect with all that ARE going to Homecoming to co ordinate if we are on our own for the travel north or go as a group? Who IS going to the Track Day I know for sure Keith and Tim are how about others? Keith and Tim have secured lodging near the track for Wednesday evening then I will follow Tim to Alpine Valley from the track, he, he, he has the GPS! Thursday evening is anyone meeting for a late dinner? Friday who wants to meet for breakfast then for which ride? Hey, how did Speedy do at Blackhawk? How was the Spring Open House? Gosh for these and other exciting news bits... I guess we COULD have a meeting? Up to the powers that be.

Ride well,

Keith K

I can make the meeting unless some unforeseen work issue arrises. I concur that it would be good to discuss homecoming.

As for riding this past weekend, I did a back roads ride to Cincinnati OH down Rt 52 and on Rt 50 along the OH river. Returned on Monday following the OH river to Madison IN and then up through the Hoosier National Forest on Rt 135. RT 135 is one of the twistiest 40 miles I have seen near our area. Maybe we should plan a weekend ride there this summer.

I would love to go to Road America this weekend but with my last trip, new jacket, new tires, new leather riding pants, new drive belt, spare clutch cable and home coming, I think my wife will post a sales ad for a 08 Buell or husband, which ever gets the best offer! (not sure which has the best resale; used Buell or used husband)

That reminds me, I need to go buy a new air filter and about that speeding ticket coming home Monday.

I did see Speedy at BHF, he was smilin at the end, so it was a good weekend (he needs to turn on the air conditioning....)
