Well, Springfast 2010 has come and gone, I must admit, this years ride was one of the nicest, weather wise. No rain, decent evening temps, and perfect daytime weather.

Thanks to Tim, our token Bueller, for showing up, and putting up with our shenanigans.
Debbie and I had a great time, and hope everyone else did. Martin certainly enjoyed himself! LOL

Anyways, we met up at the Shell on Shea just before the Beeline HWY. 9:30Am, we were rolling. We stopped in Payson for breakfast, and then continued up HWY260.

heading up the beeline hwy

We stopped in Heber to get some gas and put on another layer, as it was starting to get chilly.

After that it was pretty much a blast up the mountain, keeping an eye out for LEO's.
We got to Springerville, and settled in with a few refreshments.

The girls entertained us:

Kelly worked on the Kawa, removing the electric vest cord, and installing it on the Zuki, since he and Lisette were riding two up on the Zuki the next day.

<big>

In the morning, the hotel provided breakfast, and then we headed out. The road from Eager, through Alpine, on down to Hannagans is a beauty. Great curves, small mountain passes, and fairly new pavement. It was great!

With Deb on the back of the Honda, she was able to get a couple of action shots.
Hannagans Meadows is simply gorgeous all times of the year. There is snow on the ground all around, but the roads are clear, and smooth...

Here is a group shot:

Line up of bikes at Hannagans Meadows

and here is our token Buell rider, big Tim

Just because I wasn't on a Buell, doesn't mean I wasn't supporting them!

Buell Lives here, in your heart

Martin talked some kid into letting him borrow his saucer for a slide down the hill

Which didn't end well

Debbie strikes a pose by the "Mini-Bago"

We finally had enough goofing around at the Meadows, and continued on south down 191 to Morenci for lunch.
There is a real sweet set of S curves, followed by a cork screw just north of the mine, we stopped there for a few photos.

After lunch, we gassed up, and headed back up HWY191. Just north of Morenci, you travel through one of the largest open pit mines in the country. We stopped and rubber necked awhile, and then hit the curves.

we stopped about halfway back to stretch and grin. Debbie found an elf:

After we passed through Alpine, Kelly and Martin took off like a pair of rockets, while Tim and I followed slightly above the speed limit.
Apparently they woke up a sleeping cop who turned on his radar just in time to catch Tim and I cresting a hill. He lit us up.
I motioned for Tim to continue on, and pulled over to take one for the team.
85 in a 55, oops, sorry officer, good thing you didn't spot that pair of Suzuki's that blasted past you at 130 about 3 minutes ago! ; )
I got a ticket for "waste of a finite resource" (wasting gas) a nice way of saying slow down, and give us $65. : )

I got back and started to relax and unwind.
Of course I had to listen to the riducule of the Suzuki riders boasting how they were too fast to get caught. oh, ok...
We did party a little bit that last night:

The next morning, after another breakfast provided by the hotel, we heading out. It was a gorgeous morning, clear skies, buelltiful roads.
We stopped at the top of the Salt River Canyon for some pics, and to stretch.

Then headed through it, and on down into Globe for lunch. After lunch we headed on down into the valley and made one last gas stop, and said our good byes.

Thanks to everyone that made it, and bummer to those that didn't. You missed an excellent 3 day adventure with some great folks, over some of the best roads Arizona has to offer.

Final miles, from my house, and back,

was around 725. Not bad for a weekend. ; )

Bart,
I had a great time. I hadn't been on those roads since the AZ Brag event.

It was great meeting the other riders. It would have been nice to see one or two more Buells, but the small group dynamics were hard to beat.

Thanks,
Tim

Wow, it looks like you guys enjoyed yourselves : )

I'm looking forward to meeting some people around here that ride. I don't get my exhaust back until early next week, but I did fix (hopefully) the oil leak problem.

By the way, does anyone know a remote straight road that I could do some datalogging/tuning? I'm not going to be doing 140mph or anything, but I have to pull off the road to make adjustments, the more deserted the better.

Thanks,
Phil

Darth,
not so much on your side of town, but on the west side there is Vulture mine road, that is straight as an arrow for about 45 miles, and pretty deserted.
It is out towards Palo Verde, and heads up to Wickenburg.

I'm pretty bummed to have missed it. I only got one of those three days off. I might venture out there later in the summer on my own.

Actually, we'll be going through there on our way to San Diego in June, stopping for one night each way in Scottsdale. Maybe I'll see you guys then.

No happy dance either...

I know I've threatened this before...but I'm this close...to getting the Buell in the wind again. After a stressful couple of years financially, the books are getting back into the black where I will be able to get it up and running. Yeah yeah...you've heard it before, but this time I mean it!

Bike is back together, and the AFR is way off... thanks to the previous mechanics who forgot to hook up the interactive exhaust...

Going to try out that Vulture Road, thanks for the advice Bart.

Brian,
I'm doing the happy dance in the picture of our stop in Heber.
But if it's Happy dances you want to see...

As to your riding again, I'll believe it when I see it. ; )

Darth, No problemo, I hope it helps you get everything squared away.

Hey Andrew,

This thread outlines what my bike has been doing with the speedo... sounds like a speed sensor.
