Bike had ran well as it has from day 1 of my ownership. It ran fine even after the service engine light came on. As per the Service Manual, (for my '06 XB12Ss) I jumpered the #1 & #2 terminals on the ECM connector to get the blinking service light fault code -#11(by the way a typical spade connector works almost perfect). Assumed I needed to do a TPS reset as far as I could tell. Hooked up ECMSPY which I down loaded a couple of years ago & tested at the time but never had to use(it drove me nuts at the time that I had to depend on the H-D dealer to see what was going on and do the periodic TPS reset for what some Badweather members have had to pay as much as $150 after the warranty period). I performed the reset for the first time while hot (but it didn't look to be really out of range - more border line initially) I also checked for any fault codes via ECMSPY and found nothing - I initiated a clear all faults command anyway. Fired up the bike but the check engine light was still on??? So I double checked ECMSPY's fault code again but it still read nothing....jumpered terminals #1 & 2 again and got another code - #21 this was related to the interactive butterfly valve in the muffler. Searched BadWeather site and found similar experiences said it was the actuator motor ($165.00 -ouch)or possibly the 10 amp fuse for it could be blown which by the way also powers the horn and the brake light of all things. Sure enough, no brake light ...the fuse was indeed blown. replaced the fuse & exercised the cable that pulled on the spring loaded valve for any resistance -seemed ok so I powered up and started the engine seems to be fine for now and the engine service light went out...for now. I was surprised this never registered for the ECMSPY to detect but I guess it was. in all reality, a pretty obvious problem. Just wanted to share the experience because the brake lite failure as a side affect surprised me due to the safety implications. Because fuses don't usually blow without cause, I will be alert for a re-occurance from here on out.I may ultimately be in the market for another actuator because they have been super-ceded with an improved steel gear driven unit, hence the high price so they say.

The problem Im having is my trip meters wont reset. I can disconnect the battery and clear them but they won't reset when I want them to, like when I fuel up. Any ideas except disconnecting the battery every time.
