You know there's something wrong when the most active thread in the "Adventures" section is the Bar Stool thread!!! The weathers breaking, how bout we get out and ride somewhere? Anybody up for getting lost? Ya don't know what you don't know till you go down the road less traveled. I'll start, not looking to take out a huge group, just maybe one or two others in case of emergency. It may take a full day, who knows. Hit me up, lets roll! |

Mel, The beginning of June will be best for me. You will have to show me the Pungo loop on map because there is a nice ride to NC on Princess Anne, so not sure how far down you go for the loop. With travel, the house closing, and the issues I have with the bike (will go in shop on April 24th) I can't get out any earlier and I need to get out before I leave. So let's look at dates after June 5th (I have a wedding in SC to go to). Maybe the following week. |

after that run thru surry mel led, ive been taking the long way home from work, finding little gems like this: it's too bad the road is too rough in need of repiars to take agressively. |

Nice.... You got a location or route number for that one Matt? Dave, that works for me cause I've got tons of travel too... In fact I'll be in Tenn Monday and after that Carolina and Georgia (but the last two are for fun!!!) I don't know the Pungo loop, only been once. The day both Becky and the new guy Paul went down. But I'm up to exploring. And I can record the routes with my Google Trips enabled Phone! |

So, for my Birthday I decided to explore the roads right here in VA. I took 64W out to Charlottesville, then took 29 S. The goal was to go over Afton Mountain. There is a section of route 151 that is just like "Richard Russell" in Suches. Took a little road "666" (no shit) to Scenic Bypass-Route 56. That road is as technical as any near the Dragon. I was too busy concentrating to count the turns and after you cross under the Blue Ridge Parkway, the down hill section is steeper then any road I have ever ridden on. When your done, you come out near this little town called Vesuvius right next to Route 11. The good thing about that is that you can gas up and ride north to Staunton, VA were you can pick up route 250 west. by the time I got there it was about 7:30PM and I realized that going over this mountain into WV would be a challenge that rewarded me with a return trip in the opposite direction in the dark. (Ehhhh, wasn't excited about) that so I just jumped on I-81 towards I-64 and brought my butt back home. The point is, 2.5 hours away from home are roads that we've traveled 10 hours to get to. If planned properly, this could be a group ride that only takes 1 day to do. Meet up for breakfast and ride. We can hit the twisties and be home for dinner! |

Mel, If we did that one this Saturday, could we be back by 3:30 or 4? I got catch up with Tawana and the kids and get ready to head home (NC that is). |

Not if we met up at 11!!! You'd have to be willing to go "kickstands up" by 8:30 at the latest in my opinion. |
