The other day I was taking the city bus to school and suddenly we were being detoured. Now I could see that traffic was backed up for blocks and I was worried that I would arrive late. You see there's this cute gal in my first class that I like to sit near but if I don't get there early enough this other guy always takes the seat next to her, the room is arranged in such a way that chair are set out in pairs. I don't think it's a very good set up personally and in my house I pretty much keep my chairs evenly spaced. It helps with the traffic flow through the rooms and I think fosters a more involved atmosphere. I especially like how it is arranged in my living room and people who visit seem to agree. Though I haven't had visitors in awhile because most of my friends are otherwise occupied. I hope they start finding free time because I always make them bring beer when they visit and my beer supply is empty right now. Of course if I really want beer I can go downtown to the Rock Bottom and get one and that's right around the corner from Uhle's where I just bought three hats at yesterday. They were fairly nice quality hats and because I haggled I got them for pretty cheap which is good because this summer I want to do a lot of travel and that costs money. Like many people I enjoy money and I even collect a few coins here and there, I have Euros from most of the countries from the first year of production but some countries produced so few that they went straight into private collections and never got into circulation which is good news for the mints but I am not willing to spend that much. I find it funny that you can buy money from the US mint and they always overcharge you. $32 in singles would cost you $50 if you wanted an uncut sheet of them. They get to save money on the manufacturing process and charge you even more, that's quite ironic but it's what happens when the liberals are in control. Next thing you know gas prices will go up and it will cost even more to ride my motocycle but I have a bicycle too and if that fails there's always the city bus.

Did I ever tell you about the time when I was on the city bus going to school and there was a detour?

Dyna,
What's your opinion of a 1984 FXRT with about 98,000 miles on it in what looks like reasonably maintained condition (or fairly well detailed at least when placed on the showroom floor).
Looks like this one only a different color and has a trunkbox:
http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/1/4/69189614.htm
Suburban has one, plus a couple of FXRS's with lower miles and higher prices. I'm thinking with the 98k+ on the bike I can work with them more.

The FXRT was actually ahead of its time & is a decent bike. 98,000 is quite a bit but depending on the price it could be a great buy. Dependable bikes when compared to the rest of the HD lineup at the time & the handling is very good.

I'm going to see if I can get there Saturday morning for a test ride and check it out. Over $8K asking price, but possibly soft. Doubt the deal I'll offer will go, but hey no loss in trying.
Thanks.

If I wasn't going to be in Oshkosh that weekend I would definetely join you. But you and whomever joins you are more than welcome to use my driveway for a gathering place before the ride. I live about ~2 miles south of the Capitol plant.

As long as I'm going to be in Oshkosh for the 15th I am going to try and make it up to Appleton for the open house with Daves. I'll be up there for a graduation and I should be able to find a way to sneak out for a bit.

Jerry

P.S. Dave if you like to fish, the walleye are running pretty good right now on Lake Winnebago.

I don't fish but if I did I could fish from the balcony of my apartment. Right on the Fox river.

See you on the 15th!

Ride to the edge!

Dave is right about the price. Considering the age & the mileage I personally wouldnt pay more than $5500-6000 for it.

Unless they do actually happen to have some gold bars under the seat: D

Daves, Dyna,
Yep, I figured it was high, but they (like many shops) are proud of their stock (and confident in eventually finding a buyer at their price). I was thinking of offering a Buell straight across for it, and then ducking before he can hit me.

As far as the 15th goes, I'm thinking it might be fun to find an indirect route up there, by maybe going past RoadAmerica, and wandering around the backroads on the way. Hobans is also along that route somewhere too. Maybe consider it a pre-June route check.

Mike...the value is contingent upon the condition, service records and parts that have been R&R'd. Perhaps a Buell and $2.0K will get it for you.

If the deal doesn't meet your criteria, have DaveS do a search for you in the Northlands. Bet you will do well with him. At least much better than you will do down here in Cream City.
