Guys and Gals,
Realizing that owning a Buell is not like owning a Honda I figure that joining a local BRAG chapter is going to be very important in order to learn about my bike and keep it maintained correctly.

What I need to know is this, Which chapter? I live closer to Uke's in Kenosha but I bought my bike at Hal's in Brookfield. I might drop in on both of them and give them a try but what say you?

Dana...Excellent follow-up. Interested to see how long it takes the competition to pick up on this.

Impulse...Both are good groups but Uke's is much larger, organized and active.

No competition at all.

Personally I dont think you need to belong to a Brag club at all to keep your bike maintained. if you want to join to meet people who have similar bikes thats fine, but by & large I have determined that there is a lot going on in the local biking communities that Brag has no idea about & wants no part of....their loss.

Competition? There is no competition. There's about as much competition as there was in the paintball wars that never happened as far as I know.

Impulse,
Go where it works for you. Check out the BrewCityBrag section and get on the email list. The meetings are on Thursdays this season/year, maybe I'll finally make another one.

Depending on where you work and find yourself in the evenings you could probably attend all three local BRAG club meetings, Hal's, Uke's, Suburban. No rule that I know that that says you can't be a member of more than one.

Competition? Hah!

one cqan be a member of as many chapters as one would like, or, as Dyna sez, none at all . . . .depends a great deal on what you want out of your time, how you like the "feel" of the group, and like that . . . . ..

it's good to have choices, I say!

There are times when it's good to belong, and others where the term "outrider" just fits one's needs a bit better. YMMV.

Amen, Brother Mike. Amen!

In as much as I favor Outrider status for the moment, all the local Brag chapters are great groups with different orientations concerning membership demographics and activities.

Personally, I feel the Uke's group has done more to encourage participation by merit of understanding and accommodating family values.

BCB has done a fine job considering all the turnover resulting from personal conflicts concerning family, work and other obligations.

Can't wait to see what Suburban puts together this year. Last year was a classic failure due to small size and very unfortunate personal problems. I really felt sad for the guys over there but give them credit for continuing to try to make a go of it.

If I were to reconsider participating in a Brag group, I would choose Brew City again as I really like the folks in it and can't say enough good about Hal's Dealership.

However, if Dennis Fenrick's concept for SEWER ever gets off the ground, it could be the best of all worlds as it was conceived to bring together the riders from all the groups for both riding and social activities.

In reviewing Brag, you have National and Local Chapters. Think of SEWER as State/Regional Brag and liken it to State/Regional HOG. HOG's State/Regional Rally's, rides and other functions are a lot of fun for the riders and their families. No reason why the Brag chapters can't achieve that same unity even if they do it on their own without waiting for National Brag to do it for them. Ferris Bueller and a few others do an excellent job in this respect and I see no reason why it wouldn't work here in HD/BMC's Home State.

I liked the SEWER concept as BCB and Suburban were having difficulty with attendance on their rides. Combined activities between BCB, Suburban and Uke's would mean a decent turnout. Add to that the interest from all the other surrounding clubs and you really have something.

That is why destination rides were proposed. That is pick a town, ride to it, meet with other Buellers (and their non-Buell riding guests), do some bench racing, go for a ride and then head home.

Two day events were even proposed wherein the families could attend and picnic/party while the riders did their thing. Later, campfire events would end the day and all would head to their respective campsites or motels.

Of interest, the vast majority of respondents to the SEWER concept came from the Waterloo riders. They seem to be more inclined to ride greater distances. Evidence, their annual Prairie du Chein run and heavy participation in the Slimey Crud runs.

If the SEWER concept is to catch on and grow, it should be run by the officers of the participating Brag clubs, not Outriders. However, it would be nice if they would allow Outrider participation in the events. Who knows, you might even convert some of the Outriders and the clubs will grow nicely.

In conclusion, the SEWER concept was introduced late last year and response was low. With all the activities surrounding the Buell 20th and HD 100th, there was not much time for anything else. I should think that if the Brag Clubs pick up on it and consider it for their 2004 activities, it can succeed and provide many excellent adventures.

Spidey...Shame on you. You don't even know what BRAG has on the agenda yet. May be well worth the cost. Especially with cheap or free digs at Dana's.

With that many days planned, they must have some rides or something neat scheduled. It would be inhumane to expect that many people to spend three days on factory tours and a fourth at the track.

Then again, there may be a picnic complete with water balloon toss, tug-o-war, sack races, watermelon seed spitting and the infamous pie eating contest. That would be cool, eh? Hmmm...actually, it would. I like company picnics.

Would be great if they do a BattleTrax Day and at least a Parade Lap at Road America.

There are so many ways BRAG can entertain you in this part of the country, that I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

However, if you do decide it is not for you, we do have some superb ballet acts in town. All have really gorgeous costumes and some even use poles and other props to stimulate your experience.

Hey all....I'm interested in doing a track day this summer. Here are the potential dates:

Aug. 10 or 11 at Road America
Instruction by Sportbike Track Time
$175 for 1 day
$325 for both days

Aug. 21 at Blackhawk
Sept. 18 at Blackhawk
Instruction by Learning Curves
$150 for the day

I'm leaning towards the Road America days because: a) it's Road America; b) it's closer to home; c) it's Road America: )

Any takers???

Blackhawk is fun, its also small & quite twisty. But RA is very cool to be on.

I am less than impressed with the instruction or rather the lack of it thru learning curves, & the whole walking the track deal gets old & wastes a lot of time that could be used for riding. Rick is a good guy & a great rider, but more often than not its not so much a class & its more just get on the track & do what you want.

I disagree Dyna, I think Rick and his guys do a great job. I have had lots of one on one instruction from them. The last track day I did with them, you were there too, Dean (one of the instructors) pitted with us. Yeah I know it was because we had the pop up tent but what a chance to pick his brain. He was giving us plenty of advise. He was riding right beside me when Jeremy and Damon crashed.
The track walk is some thing I wish every school did. Yes, the one at Road America is a long walk but I find it helpful and I already been on both tracks. I would think that it would be extremely helpful to someone that had never been there.
Sometimes you have to ask for the help but I have never seen anyone in Rick's group of instructors not provide help. I have only done 5 or 6 of his trackdays so I probably don't know what I'm talking about!
I do most of my track time with Edge Racing now but I still have the utmost respect for Rick and his crew, they are top notch.

Ride to the edge!

Why does it gotta be shame on me. I didn't say the Rouge event had to be the same time that one of the events was goin on. I am sure there is going to be down time.

Fun is the name of the game and your Rouge event just may be the ticket.

Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing you again!
