So if next weekends weather is going to be better who would any of you be up for a ride next Saturday or Sunday? My brother and a friend of ours wants to ride to see the cherry blossoms. So is anyone up for that? We can meet at the Starbucks in Pan Am shopping center located at the intersection of Lee Hwy and Nutley St. For lunch ride over to Ben's Chilli bowel. How early would you want to meet? | ||

Hey Puc it. When I posted this last Sunday I was expecting my Dad to come up on Monday for a few days. His plans changed so he will be here Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon I have stuff to do at church. As for now I can't do it unless something changes. | ||

I will get some pics up. Took the ride early'ish Saturday morning. Threw my kids on the back of my and my dads bike. It was crowded. That being said parked real easy, walked around for a bit, rode back. | ||

Though I'll be out of town that weekend, I would encourage anyone to do it once. I came in from Battley one year...you won't believe the sights and sounds of an unending line of motorcycles, rolling briskly down the Beltway and GW Parkway (which are closed off to cars while the bikes cruise down). If you have time, stay with it into the Pentagon parking lot, park your bike, and hang out for a few hours while you wait for the thousands of bikes to start moving out toward DC. Bring some food, water, sunscreen, a book, and an iPod and find some shade under a tree. I only counted a 2-3 Buells where I was sitting...definitely heavy on the Hogs. When the bikes start heading out for the National Mall, you won't believe the sound...the event lives up to its name. The ride around the National Mall is a real thrill...people are waving and cheering at you...and keep a lookout for the Marine in full dress blues standing at attention, saluting the bikes from beginning to end without rest. If you don't have time to hang out in the parking lot, peel off from the crowd before you get there. The ride down is still worth it. I'll be doing that next year. |
