Hanses25...

Fuscat was gullible enough to think I would not end up destroying his Honda... (I am not the blame for Shazam's XB self destructing! That's my story... and I am sticking to it!) so he will be at my place sometime after 9 AM Saturday to figure what needs to be done to the carbs on his latest toy. (It's good to have a second bike!) If you are not far from Independence you are welcome to drop by and meet a couple of Mobbers.

Assuming you don't have a problem with a cop. Believe it or not... some people just don't like cops!!! AND... as long as they are civil about it... it's their right to have whatever opinion they choose! I have no problem with opposing view points... and I am not exactly the poster child for normal!!! Several Mobber will verify that!!! Just my job... not my whole life.

Any way... now that I have warned you about me... the invite is there. If you are in this area... call me at 935-5066... and I will give you directions. ...and you can see a few ways to toss money into a Yellow XB9S.

Dennis

Hey guys... ya think I understated things a bit with the poster child reference???

Do these things ever wear out? Stock thunderstorm heads installed at 0 miles prior to delivery, stock bore, stock cams, never been opened since new. Now at 34,000 miles. Added used West Tek exhaust and Mikuni 42. Adjusted the main jet and needle, and here are the results.

OH

MY

GOD...

I thought KCBill had been kidnapped by aliens or something... (the kind from outer space... not the kind that sneak into the country!) I had put out a locate through the cosmos to all the know occupied plants trying to locate him, described as an Indian (the kind with teepees and feathers... not the kind with 7-Elevens and slurpees) on a fast Buell fixing air conditioners. WOW... the mummy lives!!!!

Bill coulda came over and visited with me, my son and Fuscat, while he let me trash his CB550. We removed the gas tank and the carbs... found where he wants to order the rebuild kits... determined the front brake piston is froze... the front master cylinder leaks... evaluated the chain condition... straightened the kick stand... and corrected some wiring issues. All I can say... is the best money I ever spent was on my Dewalt sawsall... it took no time at all to remove the carbs and front brake caliber. If I had used... (what are they called...) oh yeah... wrenches... it would have taken forever to get that stuff off!!! It was so cool!!! I got to use my BIG hammer... and power tools!!! ...and he did not give me crap or forbid me to touch stuff like Sam did... but then after someone passes out when you take a sawsall to a bank of carbs... you don't hear much complaining... and he must have bumped his head really hard when he fell... because it was hours before he "woke up" I guess FUSCAT was VERY tired!

I guess he lost interest in the restore... because when he woke up and saw his Honda... he staggered to his truck... and left his CB550 here... gee... I hope he mails me the carb kits...

and the title!!!

Hey... I had a good time... and that is all that is really important!!

HEY Thunder... when ya gonna let me help me work on your Buell???

Hey Shazam... got that motor for your XB yet... I WANNA HELP YOU!!!!!!!!!

Easy Bill. The before and after dyno-tune runs are in the knowledge vault, CLICK HERE.

Even in the extremely lean condition we started with, the West Tek and Mik 42 was 3 hp up on my previous configuration. In the end we gained 8 HP.

Dave, the initial gain could be,that this is a different dyno. The only way to tell for sure would be to check it on the other dyno, under similar conditions.Dynos are like women, fickle and different. The numbers are good though,I havent heard of a stock thunderstorm motor with just an exhaust with numbers like that.Your motor is either 1) one of a kind,2)more done to the motor than you know,3)or a very generous dyno.

Hell I don't care about any of that. I know the A/F mixture is correct and it won't destroy the motor. Your just pissed cause my motor has more peak torque.

WRONG,I dont care how much RWH or Torque your motor has,and believe me I dont get pissed over numbers on a Dyno! But I will stand behind my 3 choices for your motor. My pick is probably #3,run it over to Belton and see how it runs on their dyno.If your numbers are the same, then My pick would be #2,then #1.So.........let me know when your going over to Beltons dyno, then we can see how that turns out.Their dyno may say you have 100RWH,and 96 FTlbs of torque,or 92 RWH and 82 FTlbs of torque, but at least there will be something to compare your runs at Olathe to,and Mike will probably charge you 20$ for the 3 runs.

Hell I don't care about any of that.
HMMMMMMMM,well you should. If thats the case, tell Mike you want your bike over 105 RWH,and over 95 Ftlbs of torque,he can doctor the dyno to print you a bragging paper that will show just that.

Take it to Belton and they will cross out the number and pencil anything you want, like he did to your run. Recheck your posted dynosheet. And what is your motor doing below 2700 RPM? Oh I forgot, you built a dragster.

Dave,If you read the previous posts, you would have know that the dyno at Belton has a glitch that posts the final HP 1.5 less.Thats no biggie to me because I know that.Their dyno has ran the same numbers on the same bikes as rolling thunder from Joplin, which dynoed your bike,as well as a couple of well know tuners, which I cant recall their names buy they will gladly tell you if you give them a call. But you shouldnt even bother about giving this another thought,remember-You dont care about any of that!

Dave,no matter how you rant and rave, your numbers look good,Im not disputing that.Im just doubting that a stock thunderstorm motor, stock bore, stock heads, and stock cams will put out those numbers by just adding an exhaust and Mikuni.Try another dyno and see how it turns out,it will either back up Olathes numbers or burst your bubble.I know Belton and Joplins dynos seem to support each other on numbers,im not sure about Blue Springs.

I don't have a bubble. I do have the proper A/F mixture across the range, all throttle positions. That's all I paid for.
