That was a great discussion Kimberlie, You should put that in the general discussion thread! I wonder what the other side would sound like? If one of the women were looking to trade in her man... |

I live @ 205th and Baseline. Yeah the guy works for a harley place doing repair work. But I thought I would like to know how to do the repair. I have already been in that side of the engine to replace the main seal, and I do have the manual. When can I hook up with ya to get the tool then? I am pretty sure it is the clutch, I have adjusted it according the the book a few times, and it is definitely slipping.

Spudman, hope you're home by now. We had to leave him behind in Newburg. His clutch cable broke when we left the gas station in Mcminnville. He got along ok as long as he kept moving. Rolled the stop sign in Yamhill but got caught at a red lite in Newburg and then his starter wouldn't turn it. So he was gonna call his boy to bring out the tools and new clutch cable that he had picked up cuz he saw it was getting frayed. Either that or he was gonna walk the 20 miles home to punish himself for not changing it out when he had the chance. You home yet, Spud? |

S1hooligan said “Hey Spudman, I saw you going south …” What can I say, sometime south happens, but it could have been me. Did a shake down run through there after fixing a shifting problem on the M2. Problem is fixed and second gear never missed all day yesterday. You should take a good look at your clutch cable before tearing into the basket. Remove the cable from both ends and make sure it moves smoothly. If it binds at all the bike will act like the clutch is slipping. These clutches are pretty tough and can take some abuse. New clutch cable is $21 in stock at Destination and takes only 15 mins to change. Had a fun STC ride yesterday. Had a bit of a clutch issue yesterday myself. As we headed out of Mc Minnville headed for home my clutch cable snapped. Staying on the back roads and speed shifting allowed me to get to Neuburg. Where at the first stoplight I killed the engine trying to lurch it into gear. Then quickly drained the battery trying to fire and go. There’s more to the story but who needs mindless details. It’s back together, charged up and ready to go. Hey Kim, funny thread above. I’m happy with the model I bought. She is getting old, the front end is starting to sag a little and sometimes she gives off an unexpected backfire, but I’ll never get rid of her. Till death do we part and then some.

With that paint job there is no mistaking your bike spud. you where just about to the TV highway exit. When I had the bike apart fixing the main seal, I am pretty sure I pulled the lever a few times and watched the end part move. I dont remember anything looking or feeling weird to me. But I dont really know these bikes either. So then when I got it all back together I rode it like 250 miles with no issues. The next time out after a few miles I started noticing that the lever was getting loose. I turned around and started to head back, it kept getting worse and worse. I adjusted to the cable as per the manual again and it seemed ok. The next time out was first ride with the buell guys. We all know how that one started out, (clutch adjustment in WA)which did tighten up the lever again but didnt fix the slipping clutch feeling. So I again went back through what the manual says and it all looks good. I even had a harley buddy look at it and he said the play in the lever and the clutch looked as it should. The bike is a 96 and has like 35,XXX on it. Could still be stock clutch? How many miles do you get on buell clutch? I know depends a bunch on how you ride it and where you ride. But in general? is 35,000 a lot? My thinking was it was just time to change it....I already bought the replacement for it. it was only $139 and they had it here in two days.

Spudman - I hear you there. My model has a terrible exhaust leak - smells like it's been running some kind of racing fuel possibly, however the shaft still drives the pistons pretty hard and keeps the motor running. I hear some models aren't cut out for running at excessive speeds for long periods of time, even rumored that some models have congenital defects? Those recall notices they can be pretty bad too. Recall for a faulty kickstand is never a good thing. I would like a model that comes with more caution labels - you know the ones you work to get off the minute you bring it home from the showroom floor - I know where to fuel up and with what - but how about a label that warns you of other things - that way you could know what your getting into before you have a clear title in your hands. And the owner's manual - whoever wrote that bunch a crap didn't know that my model was an exception to all those rules. My manual was missing the chapter on one model might generate future mini-models with similar expensive passion. Oh well, my old model has hundreds of miles left of good hard riding - it doesn't always smell good, but runs great and even keeps the other models in top running order. Which is a good thing because who wants to be traded in for something that looks better. I guess that is the key to see the positive things - no matter what model you have. As long as your riding it's all good! Kimberlie |

Galen, we sized the appropriate bearings in your bottom end, sealed the cases and continued to install the cylinders. After installing the front jug, we found that the rear rod was binding. What is happening is the rods and wheels are not exactly centered in the cyclinders. The factory has suggested a couple of areas we need to look at before we proceed. We will contact the factory as soon as this is done, hopefully this afternoon, and I'll keep you in the loop. Thanks, Stuart. |

Galen- poor Betty - see there is the problem with "your model" she only has one front jug. So now I see the congenital defect is the lack of "jugs" vs only one jug. Damn factory guess maybe they figured the bike would go to someone who likes the rear end better? hang in there brother man- |

Waiting for the "Registrar of Motor Vehicles" to send me the necessary paperwork, accepting the presence of my new bike in Canada. Expecting it to take two weeks, as per their website. Three days late and I receive a letter from them that they hadn't received the necessary payment ($185) so cannot process my stuff. Dug up the receipt from March 8 and gave them a call. The nice man on the phone did some research and tells me that the Customs Office must have sent them the wrong paperwork. I think that confirms that the Customs officer found my rant about his colleagues when he searched the Badweb about the price of my purchase. LOL. Good thing its raining or I'd not be finding this quite as funny. Kimberlie and Mike. A cheque for $20 is in the mail. Thanks for the thingie.
