I did a search in the surrounding area using the term "vrod" and pulled up bikes from Alexandria to Nashville. One with only 750 miles on it. here's one locally..

Nuts,
That would come to about 200 boxes of vanilla and 150 of chocolate. Jello brand only need apply.
Appreciate you having a look see for me!
Believe it or not the wide tire kit is a deal killer for me. Had one with a 230 once and it was like riding with a car tire hanging out the back. I must admit it was the only bike that I have had that I could corner better than it could

Jackson,
I thought you were all about the "SHOW". A lot depends on the profile of the tire.......and how long ago was your "Big Wheel experience"? There not for me....but they do have the look.
PS, You do know that V-Rods don't vibrate don't you.

Its been many a year Charlie.
In fact I was the first 230 series tire and rim shipped to Va. that they knew of.
It had a huge flat spot in the middle and once you got off that spot it felt like you were going for the ashpalt ride.
Now don't get me wrong I do loves me some show but I'd prefer to remain in the upright position until the ride has come to a complete stop .

No vibration! Damn their eyes!
Nah actually I knew they didn't vibrate and sound like a popcorn popper from reading online and watching videos. I can however make it sound like a giant gorilla farting at a later date though.

Anybody find me any other prospects yet?
Called about a brand new 08 holdover for $14,000 out the door but that gives me the $100.00 a month payment that I wanted to avoid.

So Charlie here's the question that begs answering.
Knowing my supreme analness when it comes to perfection, would you consider paying full blue book value for a bike that is 7 years old and has almost a year warranty provided it is completely damage free?

Thanks Nuts.
With the exception of the first one, the one at the dealer honestly doesn't seem too far out of line considering it has warranty and includes tax, tag, title which the DMV would get from me anyways.
Seems the weather is conspiring against me to get up to Winchester at the moment anyways.
Believe it or not I'm surpisingly calm cause I have the money in hand and know the right one will come my way. Takes a lot of stress out of it when there is no trade in to consider.

Tax, tag, title on a $10k bike is less than $500. I'm certain you could offer any of these posters $8.5k and see where it gets you.

The last posting is an 06 with 750 miles on it! I also saw a set of anodized aluminum bodywork on the Charlotte craigslist for $250.

I'd be looking for the lowest miles example I could find within viewing distance. Unless a bike spent its life on a dyno, there's no way a 5k miler can have less dirt than a 750 miler.

Point being if you want the best one out there you have to search for it.

Charlie, I like the street rod or the night rod myself. I'd get the street rod and slap the anodized bodywork on it and be a happy-jack.

Nuts, you'd be Happy Jack as long as you had something to go play on. Just too much weight for someone always on the go. But would be fun on Sat. nite at the cruise in.

Nuts,
I truly understand. The only problem is I've begged, sold and stole as much as I can scrape together without delving into my stash of special goodness and am short for the 2 at 12,500 plus DMV fees. If I were going to finance a few thousand I'd go with new since I found an 08' brand new for 14,000 out the door.
I do have an inquiry in on the one in Alexandria to see if the price is negotiable but have yet to hear back.
The one 03' has a bent rear wheel and the other 2 don't seem to be any more attracitve than the one at the dealer.
The Nightrod Special isn't really my cup of tea with all that black.
I'm still scouring and keep checking the Ebay everyday to see what pops up and what its selling for.
I appreciate the help my friend!

Charlie,
I actually dig those chunks of solid goodness that the tires are mounted to but do have a little concern about crosswinds. I've convinced myself with my style of riding it shouldn't be a factor.

Out on the interstate they can be a real pain in the a$$. I rode a Fat Boy once that had them and it felt like steering the rudder on a boat.

Charlie,
I fear I missed the superbowl due to a most excellent Ghosthunters marathon last night.

The rumors were wrong about the gently used 09'. Turns out it was a brand new 09' with 2 miles on the clock that will be delivered by the friendly staff of Waugh HD in a week or two.
See how excited I look?

Oh and Charlie you were right about the wide tire. Much has changed since the days when I had the 230. It actually looks like a motorcycle tire and I was forced to be a part of the madness.

Nuts,
Actually I was awake tossing and turning worrying about getting it through the doorway. I figure worse case if I take the door off the hinges it SHOULD fit. Pain in the a$$ but it only takes a few minutes.
If that don't work I'm going to accept your generous offer until I can figure out an alternative.
I think sliding the components up the bars 1/2in and the removing material from the ends would give me the clearance should I need it. Guess we (notice the we part) could take care of that in less than two hours.

Charlie,
It is now Nuts responsibilty to keep the ecomomy alive. I'm seeing a black and orange dirt machine making a show in the near future. Unfortunately that is going to force me to keep up with the George and Wheezy and go get my own.
Me and him have this little thing where we have to constantly upstage one another. After his new house I got some serious catching up to do. Who knows maybe if one comes on the market right beside him he might have his old buddy close at hand

Sounds like your next project needs to be a garage, lift table and shop.....you got some serious polishing to do and you can't be taking the door off every time you want to move it.It only cost a little more to go first class.

Charlie,
I think I'm gonna have to try to fly under the radar and sneak a set of dragbars on the bike. I really like the look of the "folded taco" riding position.

What your saying is, you need more weight in the back to help get the front end up. I'm sorry, didn't mean to start harassing you so soon, but sometimes I can't help myself.
Jackson, the bikes almost too long to parallel park now, with wheelie bars you'll have to have an in and out door in your shop.I'm gonna quit now before you ship me a poison frog or some other form of reptilian

Yeah tell pops the door itself measures 35 and I wanna see how hard it is to get one of the preframed ones and slap it in there. From the opening size it looks like I could shove a 38 in there if I take back to the joists.
