Ah yes, Understood.
And this would be a good jumping off point to start a few rumors. Let's see, Trek is big into carbon-fiber, Buells are using more carbon-fiber components, Trek has some good monocoque c/f frameset technology, Buells have a somewhat-monocoque aluminum frame, Trek has a lot of aluminum framework technology, Buell is due for a major announcement, Trek is due for a major announcement, Buell and Trek have a lot of employees with similar interests and technological backgrounds, Buell and Trek are not all that far apart either in distance or technology, Cannondale made an attempt but entered the wrong field at the wrong time.
(cue spooky moody blues music here)
Something is on the horizon, but the vision is still a bit unclear, but there may be more shown at the Trek-100 than a few thousand participants riding between 20-100 miles that afternoon.

Okay, that is enough of rumoring for me today. : )

True, I have never seen my Trek and Buell together at the same time. Scary, makes you think.

We should start a little sign up for a Trek 100 ride ala the Newfie thread. I'll start.

Doughnut/65%
MikeJ/50%

Wait, I forget if this is Trek100 or BAC.

Though if you don't get on the Trek your moon's just gonna keep on getting fuller.

Man, I am feeling saucy today.

You'll have to include Blastin in that list,
and you'll have to increase CJ's participation potential as I know she has a bit of a cycling interest from past readings.

Does the signup fee for the Trek100 require additional donations, or does the entry fee cover all the required requirements. One could spend the $75 for a nice looking jersey as well.

A local bike shop owner I know said one year he did the 100 in the LeMond group and they averaged over 30mph for the whole 100 miles, but it was mostly a group of roadies in that pack. Regardless, that be movin'.

That would be right, I love bicycling as well as motorcycling, but I have a Schwin, not a Trek !!!

And I would not miss an opportunity to go to Road America to watch motorcycle races or I'd be there !!

They are not brand specific, but with the Buell thing I knew there would be decisions to be made.

Dullorb,
Perhaps look at one of the other cycling events in the area to get a BRAG group together for. Jerry's participated in more of them than I have so he'll probably offer up some suggestions once he finds out we're talking about him.

I have participated in a handful trek100, ride for the arts and one other I think, from experience and from talking to other riders I I would say the best one is the trek100.

You pay an entry fee and then you must raise $1 per mile. There are 3 distances you can go the shortest is either 30 or 40 miles, then the 62m(100k) and the 100m.

Doesn't mean we still can't get another one together, as I'm not going to miss going to Road America for that one. I would be willing to do one though !

I am so out of bicycle shape, though I'm in pretty good sitting around the house drinking beer shape. What distance were you looking at Dull? I think one of the two lower ones for me. Think if we got enough of us going that Hal's might sponsor?

Got on the Buell today. Getting used to it again. My left hand is pretty tired. Can't wait for constant good weather.

I bought one of those little devices on ebay to make the clutch easier to squeeze. It works great. I had no problems with my hand the first ride of the year which is something I haven't felt since I sold my Honda. I just ordered another device for my dad's sporty.

Man does it suck being banned off of BadWeb at work!! Now I got you guys "talking" behind my back. : )

For the past three years I have been doing the Luekemia Lymphoma "Lakeshore 150" It starts in Mequon and ends up in Door county. Great ride and awsome scenery(especially if your pedalling behind my wife : ) ) Seriously though it is a very fun time. There is well stocked rest stops every ~15 miles or so, lunch stops and dinner. Oh and FREE BEER from Lakefront Brewery. In case you were wondering it is a two day ride. ~75 miles a day. First day is Mequon to Sheboygan for lunch and then on to the shore of Lake Michigan at UW Manitowoc for overnight.Either tenting or hoteling is available. A cool dip in Lake is great. Next day is from Manitowoc to Sturgeon bay and another cool dip in the Lake. Then you hop on a nice motorcoach and get back to Mequon. Your bike goes on truck and theortically is back to Mequon before you are.

Enter fee is $30 bucks and you have to raise $200. It is a very well put together ride and is very well supported. Plus you get to ride along the Lake for good portions of the ride. I beleive the ride this year is July 18-19.

The Miller Lite Ride would be a good one to do for the club since there are several different distances to do at one time.
I always do the Oak Leaf trail 76 miles around Milwaukee county sometime during the summer as well.

Jerry

P.S. Anyone intersted in or know someone looking for a bedliner for a 2001 Ford F-150 Supercrew? I've got one for sale, ~$100.

Any details on sundays ride yet? Hopefully the weather will hold out. Supposed to be around 60 but there is that constant threat of rain.

Details on Sunday ride to be posted Thursday or Friday, as well as e-mail.

We will meet at Hal's at 11:00a.m. and take a nice leisurely ride somewhere to "Shake the Rust" off from winter. There will probably be a lunch stop sometime in the afternoon. Route is subject to change depending on precipitation.

Dennis,

Why yes, I have added to my growing collection of multicylindered internal combustion engines. I know have a 1 cylinder, a 2 cylinder, a 4 cylinder, a 6 cylinder, and an 8 cylinder engine. It's those elusive 3 and 5 cylinder engines, particularily the 5 cylinder engine that may be hard to come by.

Still kept the Olds. Both cars are over 90,000 and, the truck will be on a as needed basis for the time being

Our "New" truck

And your point is????? Dont worry about CJ, somehow I get the feeling she knows what a pair of tits looks like: D

And I think the schedule should be changed. Saturday looks to be a great day & sunday is very very iffy at the moment. Calling for rain all day. Hopefully that wont be the case tho.

Metros can be gotten with a 3cyl. and I believe the GMC / Chevy just came out recently with a 5 cyl. in one of their pick-ups.
