Charlie, I think jackie's going to sell all his hunting toys and buy a HD V-rod Muscle. You know, to compensate.

With the-raven going back to RVHD&not Buell on Monday maybe he can get a good deal.

I think Jackson would love a V-Rod, all that chrome to polish
Seriously though it's a nice sporty cruiser, nice motor and fair handling.Good looks, but very poor in the seat dept. You would need an operation(the boys)for it to be real comfortable.
I could see Jackson on an XR1200 handles a lot better, less weight(still too heavy)and not nearly as many out there.

As much as he loved hunting.....I wouldn't be so quick to sell every thing. Just store it for awhile, cost alot to replace if his mood swings back.

Never fear boys.
The possible sell or trade of the atv is one of motivation for my "get in shape prgram" and does not signal the terminal end of my hunting career.
I figured if I could get myself healthy enough then I should be able to drag a deer to where it is accessible for the SUV.
The guns are staying in the safe in the hopes that a Summer without squirrel and venison will change my unwillingness to drop the hammer on em' next hunting season.
Its all part of my masterplan and makes sense in my head at least

Ok an offer is on the table for a 2005 Honda VTX custom 1300. Not sporty but I do like a good cruiser that can be customized out the a$$.
You guys give me some input on this thing.
Reliable, fit and finish, etc..
Somebody he'p me out here.

Buying a cruiser is a simple proposition, get an HD or a Victory. Don't give that ATV away before you check the value of the VTX.
Can you fit a cruiser in the laundry room doorway? How much room will you have in there?

Nothing dounds as bad as a metric cruiser with custom pipes. Take your time and find what it is you want before you jump at an offer.

Jackson,
I don't know the value of your ATV, but this is a 5yr old cruiser and would be surprised if it had a lot of resale value. Unless this guy is your twin brother I wouldn't even look at it.
What is it your looking for....something a little different or same as everybody else. When and where are you going to ride and with who? Is this for Saturday nite's in the parking lot or are you actually going to ride it somewhere.
Plus everything that Nuts said.......I just don't like 5 yr. old bikes unless their unique.

He'd be giving a $10k ATV for a $4k bike. A cruiser could be a nice bike but it is certainly worth getting the whole she-bang.

Again, consider what you want, NOT what is available. If you want to give the ATV away for $5k I'm pretty sure I can find a buyer in a heartbeat. Let me know. NUTS

Nuts, Sounds like you just put the right hat on it. Think about selling the ATV for cash now that tax refunds are coming in and at the same time look for something that gets you excited.

getting "the best of what's around" has never been a wise choice for me. I've done it before and am hopefully reformed.

Jackie, you have the means of attaining what you WANT, all you've got to do is hold out until the time is right. Don't take the easy way out.

I spoke to the_raven again today and he confirmed he'll check into a trade first thing Tuesday morning.

I think a v-rod would be a wise choice for you mr. honkson.

Thanks guys!
The Vrod is my current dreambike and what I want but I'm not looking into getting into payments again. Its nice actually owning instead of making the monthly payments.
The interest that this thing has generated is amazing! Well over 20 replies but seems everyone wants to buy. I haven't placed a cash value on it yet as I was hoping to find a trade since the values seem to be higher that way.

Nuts,
I am holding off to see what the Raven can do. Hopefully he can work some magic on the Firebolt at least since it seems they are in far less demand. In exchange I shall take him out and let him experience the thrills of having a black Racer clamp upon his forearm .
Thanks for helping to get the ball rolling.

Charlie,
You know me man. The bike will be used for short rides to Tuggles with the Nutster for a grilled chicken sammich and some eye candy as well as short jaunts around town including the ever famous Wiley Drive.
I want something I can put MY hallmark on and the Vrod seems to be just the ticket. Mean looking on its own but can be customized to look downright sinister.

Ahh the thoughts of adding billet aluminum brings a tear to my eyes .

Nah I didn't do anything. Surpisingly patience is something I have actually learned to have a little of .
I was just calling to see what you knew about the VRod. I've seen them and but I know very little about em'.
Don't seem to hold value well and was wondering if thats cause the Harley guys hate em' or because they are falling apart after a few thousand miles.

Jackie, I'd check to make sure the bike in Winchester has the anozised aluminum bodywork. I thought the 100th anniv bikes were 2tone black and silver. And don't pay extra for the anniv edition as they extended production of that year by 3 months to flood the market with "special" bikes.
Time and patience will find you the bike you want.

Charlie, what do they say about taking horses to water?

I stopped by Minute Muffler of Roanoke today and spoke to Todd about trying out an enduro race. Seems like we'd both like to give it a go. Hopefully I can find the means to get a bike that I can give the race a try on. NUTS

The Vrod is haunting my dreams fellas'. Visions of drag bars, billet grips and pegs are eating me alive.
I'm inching closer and closer.

Charlie,
You are correct about the KY jelly. The out of town dealer originally wanted to not only stick it in but break it off. He finally came up a fair bit but I'm still going to seek a private sale to maximize my potential. (What say you Nuts? That a long driveway to shovel. Think Honda and snowplow).
If all goes well and the weather holds I believe a Winchester trip will be in order in a week or so. Not necessarily to buy the first Vrod I lay my eyes on but if its as clean as Mr. Dealer says then its coming home with me.

Which model V-Rod are you looking for, or prefer? Night Rod, Street Rod, etc.,color. I'll look around.

Charlie, he doesn't really know the differences. For his purposes it doesn't matter either. You and I'd be on a Street Rod for the corner clearance but the Jaxson just needs the show.

On that note Mr Hugger-o-turtles I was able to get the fam to commit to $4k. Let me know. NUTS

I'm afraid the Nutster is right. He explained it but I still don't have a clue what the differences are between models.
All I know is I like the looks of them all.
It looks like a custom even though its factory and I am pledging to leave it stock for at least 6 months

Jackson,
Do you want forward controls or mid controls? Do you want the small fairing or wide open headlight? Also a difference in pipes and front end rake, etc.

Charlie,
I like forward controls. Goes back to my days of when I actually built two custom Sporties.
The fairing I'm not sure what you mean. I like the little speedometer pod thing but not a windshield.
I'll take whatever pipes I can get cause once my 6 month probation period is up I'm getting customs and a remap

OK, stay away from the street rod, the night rod has the forward controls and a tiny fairing about the size of your helmet.I think it looks cool, I just don't like forward controls and "raked" frontend which it has.

Thats cause you actually ride it like you stole it Charlie .
You ever see Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man? If so think back to the beginning when Mickey is riding Black Death back home to meet Marlboro. That raked out front end, stretched out forward control position and Wanted Dead Or Alive playing is me.
Now I just gotta find the Harley Davidson FXR jacket he wore and get the patch changed to VRSCA.
One benefit of the Vrod is I don't have to worry about all the Harley guys calling me their brother since they hate them LOL!

I still have a huge poster of it in my basement LOL.
I figure the Vrod is a close to it as I'm gonna get for a reasonableprice and factory build.
