New Years. Bah Humbug!

Charlie,
22 with a windchill of 10 here today. Got a spare room you wanna rent out?

Nuts,
You all settled in to your new palace? I forgot mention this but when you are taking applications for your servants let me know since I could use a part timer.

Tank,
I thought we lost you there. Good to know our coastal brethren is still with us even if just in spirit.

Charlie it has been chaos at Ft. NUTS. My brother arrived last Wednesday and he's been helping me set up the new house. We managed to install a wood stove we procured from our friend Seth without gaining a hernia. Some feat, I tell you as the cast iron thing weighed north of 500lb.
We fixed the water line in the new refrigerator, installed some new fluorecscent lights in the shop, shoveled some snow, got bailed on by the Turtlehugger, trimmed some branches and marveled at the work the two guys did installing my new fence.
At the old house we installed a bath vanity, baseboard moulding, towel rack, mirror and threshold. Found some time to move the larger items that would have proven difficult to do with the Mrs. too.

I had to brake to avoid a deer collision on I-81 yesterday. Those two does were just standing in the road, north of Daleville until I got within 25 yards and blew the horn. By that time I was slowed down to 30mph and noticed the tractor trailers behind closing fast! I leaned into the diesel and the turbo kicked out a helluva lot of wicked, black smoke and I avoided danger, yet again.
I am a lucky SOB. Today it's cold, windy and free of the white stuff so far. There's a few logs in the bed of the truck that I need to split today so my workshop will be cozy warm for the days events.

While I did get bailed on by the Turtlehugger; he was kind enough to lend me his trailer. Now, if I only knew how to back that thing without jacknifing very time! NUTS

Nuts,
Glad to see your life isn't getting dull during this winter lull. Be glad you didn't still have the Toyota,we'd be trying to write your epitaph.God bless turbo's.
Might want to keep some wood in the truck for traction. Backing that trailer just takes a lot of practice and a sense of humor.

Nutster,
I apologize for the bail. It was an unintintional byproduct of the now infamous broken water line. I was told Tuesday the carpet fellows were coming to rip out the old and replace with fresh turf on Wed. It was a nightmare but behind me now.

Dude still got the Cannondale for sale by chance? If not see if you can track down another in the same price range please.

I rode down to C'burg to see their last, lonely firebolt. An '09, black and cherry bomb 12r with the all blacked out motor and forks. Priced at $6999 or so. What a looker, though it wouldn't fare well on the dirt roads I frequent.
Heading for Paint bank in the morning, ought to be a bit chilly to start but should turn out to be another great day. NUTS

Glad to see your back on the rode......don't forget about cold tires.Them BMW parts are a whole lot more expensive than the Buells.
I put the battery charger on mine if that counts. Bought a tire changer for Christmas, still need to get the good nylon fittings for it.
Was 67 yesterday, had to strip down to a tee shirt, after I spent two weeks trying to find my "long johns".

Just got a $475 electric bill.Guess we can't put the heat up to 70 anymore.

The new house has natural gas and that should fare better. I could always get the cast iron fireplace hot for a little of the good radiation. NUTS

Turned 15k miles on the BMW yesterday. After washing the bike on Sunday I returned it to the garage this evening covered again with mud. Just can't resist. All of the good scenic roads here are extra ogle-worthy due to the backdrop of snow and the waterfalls everywhere. All of the creeks are flowing and the water is cascading down the rocks and over logs in a wonderful way. I think I'll take the camera out today.

Jackie, forgot to mention I returned your trailer last week. It was placed out front in the grass by the Escape.

Down 22.5 pounds in about a month.
Rest wel Nuts cause if I reach my desired goal we are gonna do some physical stuff this summer. Dragons Tooth, Peaks of Otter and a foot exploration of the jeep trail are on the to do list as well as kayak fishing trips once the sun dips below the horizon.

Goofing around last Tuesday with the_raven somewhere in Roanoke county.

I managed 82 miles this morning down to Tuggles Gap and back. Lots of ice, fog, rain, and freezing temps. This nonsense of having to wash the bike after each ride is getting old. I can't wait until the salt is off the roads! NUTS

I was just saying I applaud you guys for going with it instead of trying to pretend like your 22 again .
I find myself buying the current trendy clothes and such however instead of looking in the mens section I hit the boys section lol. Seems I am still striving for the key to immortal youth.

OK, I see what your saying. You see middle age racing towards you and you really didn't get to enjoy your twenties and later. So your trying to hold it off(wish we could)getting old really sucks, I don't care what they say.
When you have part of your health stolen from you, you have a different perspective on things. At least in my case I was a good bit older when my health issues hit, but I think I know where your coming from.
I enjoy Nut's adv. pic's even though I know I won't get to do that kind of stuff anymore. Still have some good memories.

Have you been getting any hunting done in this weather? Always liked tracking in the snow, especially for rabbits.
Hope ya'll don't get the ice they say NC is going to get.

Charlie,
No hunting for me since early November.
I'm ashamed to admit it but I made the mistake of watching instead of shooting and had an epiphany. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger now. I turned into a tree hugger man !
I hope we do get a boatload of snow but I'm not holding out much hope. I figure if its gonna be Winter then it should snow and be freezing cold. None of this pansy 50 degree stuff.

Jackson,
Whats this tree hugger crap........you have one of those studs drilled into your brain? You gonna start livin on bean sprouts? I'm gonna have Nuts hook some electrodes to those studs on the back of your brain if you keep this up.
And I guess 50 degree weather is for pansies....but I usually stay in until it's at least 60
Now get out there and pop a couple of rabbits and make some biscuits and gravy and you will remember why you like hunting.

PS...I know your shitting me.
