It's all weather dependent. Right now, there is conflicting weather reports. FOX6 says 58 and rain. Accuweather says 60 and cloudy, Weatherbug says 60 and cloudy. So we're playing it by ear.

We're going to meet at the KwikTrip next to LeDucs custard near the corner of Hwy83 & 18 at 8:00AM, kickstands up at 8:15AM.

I really simplified our route to Pine Bluff. It's kinda boring, but we'll get there quick.

And the ride from Pine Bluff to Leland is MUCH more interesting. Just gotta finish it : )

Trackdad....

Nice seeing you. Sorry I didn't stop on the way out, but it was time to go and battle the elements. Luckily I had bought that rain gear earlier in the day, because I wore the jacket on the way home to stay warm. It was nice and chilly on the way back to Milwaukee.

I hope to see you guys soon.

I was interested in the question about "upgrading" to a Harley-Davidson. I almost wrote and shared with the guy that, against what folks had predicted, there had been more folks, over the years, "upgrade" from a Harley-Davidson to Buells.

This curried little favor and flat out angered some.

Court and Steve, As you may know I already have an 02 deuce and was planning on purchasing a 1125..... ready to trade the damn deuce today for a few 25's for tomorrow! Also tempted to scrape the wings of the back of my jacket.... better yet, torch it in protest at the museum. Thoughts of removing all related items from my life. What a LOSS!

I'm with you Trackdad!!! I have a feeling you should act fast as far as buying the 1125's though. You could really get a deal. When they are out of production their value should increase greatly, I would think.

Steve,

You guys represented Buell riders very well in the TV interview, and I'm glad that Bob Moore was able to convey the uniqueness of Buell, and the dedication of Buell riders to their brand, to the masses that were watching. I'm also pleased that you were able to make him understand about the misconception of "upgrading" to a Harley. In my own mind, Buell was never a stepping stone to a Harley. I am pretty sure that my next bike would have been another Buell, and now, H-D will get nothing from me in the future 'cept a couple of bucks here and there for some lube, and a gasket or two. I don't really want to give anything to the motor company at this point, but I would still like to support our friends at Hal's.

I know that it is almost futile to try to convince H-D that this is a horrible decision, and I believe that they will eventually figure that out for themselves. However, is Brew City Thunderbikes organizing anything to show their support for Erik and the crew in East Troy? One final ride to the factory perhaps? Followed by a ride to Juneau or the Museum, where we burn an effigy of the bar and shield? Just kidding about that last part... although I'd like to.

I suspect the next group meeting at Hal's will be an interesting one. I've got a class that night, otherwise I'd be there.

Please send Kirt (Kirk? Curt? Kurt? Sp?) my regards and thank him for his support of the Buell brand over the years.

The current economy sucks.

Wait a minute, the last meeting should have been on the 14th. Dang.

Hi, Guys!

Long time, no see!

When I was coming home for an R&R a few days ago, my wife sent to me the news of the demise of Buell. I have mixed emotions... Anger, frustration, nostalgia and resignation.

This is not just another company being cannibalized. This is a company and product, along with PEOPLE, with which I have invested a personal and emotional attachment.

For a host of reasons, I always wanted to own a Harley product.

Unfortunately, prior to Buell, HD never made anything that I wanted to actually DRIVE, much less "Ride".

Prior to going to Iraq in '04, I had resigned myself to "Settling" for a Buell Lightning when I came back home.

Then, along came the Buell Ulysses.

When I heard about it, described as an "Air-cooled Motard on steroids for tall people", I knew that I had to buy it, sight unseen, no test ride.

I had grown up on dirtbikes. Dirtbike ergos, combined with sportbike handling and big V-Twin torque was exactly what I had in mind. The Ulysses was and is a "Utilitarian Crotch Rocket for Geezers (me)".

The association with Harley and the ability to carry luggage were highly desirable pluses!

I came home from Iraq on R&R in May '06. The next day I walked into Hal's armed with cash.

The first Ulysses that I saw is the one that I bought. Fortunately, it was a studly and faster black one, not a wimpy & slower yeller one...

I had not even seen a photo of the beast known as Ulysses prior to that day. Then suddenly, there it was in person, and it was mine.

A couple of days later, we were at the '06 Homecoming together, where I met some wonderful folks. (Hi, Brian, Steve and more!)

Since 2006, Buell has continued to refine the Ulysses model. At some point I was going to have to decide whether I wanted to upgrade the old girl to new specs, or replace her with a younger model.

While I could trade up at this time, I think that I will have to keep the old girl. A new bike will never have the memories of any Homecomings, much less the "Farewell to Buell, Last Ride."

To Eric, the Elves and Buellers everywhere, thanks for the memories! You will never be forgotten.

See you on Monday, 26 October, 2009.

RIP Buell, The Ultimate Motor Company.

It'll be good to see you Karl.

We share your anger, and frustration of the HD decision to close Buell. But, the good thing is, while Buell the motorcycle company is going away, the good friends, memories, and experiences that we've all made aren't going anywhere.

Toni and I were sitting at the kitchen table the other day talking. The vast majority of our friends have been met in the past 5 years because of Buell. Just a silly, emotional attachment to a CO2 belching machine has made us friends & memories that will last a lifetime. All the races, all the Homecomings, all the "dave" rides, and the Holy Hill rides. I wouldn't give 'em up for nuthin' : )

Even though Buell will be closing their doors shortly, I'm sure we'll still be making more friends, and many more good memories.

See ya'll Monday.
