If you're planning on staying at the Love Shack camp site for the races, please PM or email me. We're trying to get a head count of who will be there. I don't think we'll have a space problem, but there are a few non-SCABbers that would like to camp there, and before I say that they can, I'd like to know how many will be there.

HEY ALL!

Shawn Higbee is coming to Willow Springs this weekend. Come on out to cheer him on. This will be his last "shake-down" before Laguna Seca.

He'll be up against some tougher competition this weekend with Nolan's 1098R and rumors of Claudio Szyskowski's return on his 1098R. Looks like some "Duck Hunting" for Higbee.

Pitting is always on the Left after you've entered the gates - second row of pits behind the turn 1 grandstands. You'll have good grandstand access on foot from the pits.

Pick up some of those cool Higbee Racing T-shirts while you're there.

I'm down to see how he does. Is it still just the $10 for an entry fee or is that just for track days?

Hi socal Buellers! I'll be staying in Redondo Beach visiting a friend July 13 thru 17. I'll have the days to myself and wondering if there's some cool roads, or anybody that would like to go for a ride.

For anyone in the Los Angeles area who's interested in riding up to Willow Springs this Sunday for the WSMC Racing (third Sunday of the Month).... I usually head up with a group, starting at H-D/Buell of Glendale. We meet in Glendale at 9:00AM, and head out at 9:30AM. We ride north up the 2 FRWY, and continue up Angeles Crest HWY.... It's $10.00 at the track, and there's usually a BBQ provided by the Buell team in the pits for those that show up with our group. Anyone interested in riding up with us from Glendale can just show up at the shop in Glendale at 9:00AM, Sunday (6/21/09).

Happy Fathers Day!

2008xb12scg,
For a short ride near Redondo I suggest riding around Palos Verdes. PV Dr. West, South, East, and North. For longer rides away from Redondo, maybe check out Pacific Coast Hwy to Mulholland Hwy. The Angeles Crest Hwy was recently opened and is a great ride too. I might be available for a ride, just got to compare schedules with my wife.

Around the PV hill is great - just watch for inattentive cagers pulling out!!!

The highway down to Malaga Cove is really nice... just not much of a ride where you can let the bike BREATHE... think 35-45MPH.

If you have ANY CHANCE to make it to the Angeles Crest Highway, you ought to take a ride - but it's almost an hour and a half for you to get to the bottom of the Crest (Hwy 2) - starts at the 210 freeway. You can ride it up over the spine of the mountains to Wrightwood. Breakfast at Newcomb's Ranch, Lunch at Wrightwood. You'll be gone for the day.

Well might be a slight change of plans. My son is going off to boot camp in the next few months and I decided to let him stop working so he could have his last few months of freedom(really so he could hang out with the old man). So SoCal might have to wait as I'm running out of time to hang out with him. But I did right down all the roads you guys told me about as I have family down that way.

Well, my plans have changes slightly. Jen is getting the July 4th weekend off from work, so rather than me riding up solo with the SCAB crew on Thursday and spending the night in SLO, we are going to ride all the way to the track on Thursday.

Ebear is planning a ride to possibly Mt. Hamilton area on Friday for those already at the Love Shack. Not having ridden there before, my idea is to make a learning experience out of it and see something new.

Because of family obligations, departure time from LA South Bay is not certain but will most likely be after 8 am. So if anybody is camping with the SCAB group and wants to tag along and head straight to the track, albeit making a scenic ride out of it, post up here.

From, Steve,Kris,Stephanie and Katja.
HI TO: ERIC, JERRY, SCOTT, AND ALL THE REST OF THE BUELL CAMPERS.
This was our second trip to Laguna Seca. The first GP race and the first time we visited the Buell Camp. We stayed at the Archery RV site. (a nice spot for anyone who find themselves stuck there). We rode up to the Buell camp daily, hung out a little and then walked around. We found out later that when Shawn was there we were not and when Danny was there we were not. Bummer! Other than that we had a GREAT time, So much fun! Lots of nice people, we will do it again. Can't wait to see Ebears pictures.

Hey Steve,

That's a great shot. Yeah, I had a lot of fun up there too. Nice seeing you and the girls. I (and the others at the Love Shack) got a chance to hang out with Shawn at the camp site, but I too missed the boys from the Geico team. Oh well, maybe next time.... But, it was great seeing Buells racing at Laguna Seca!

OK Folks.....here is the next "Event of the YEAR!"
American Sport Bike BBQ in the Sequoias or also known as the "OKTOBERFAST"

This year we will be staying at the Montecito Lodge again and I believe we'll have the Dandy Cabin......the only part of the lodge on the other side of the lake......('bout a 5 minute walk).
The riding out of here is some of the most spectacular in all of California and Kings Canyon is breathtaking. A 'must do' if you've started your bucket list like me.
Some of the LARGEST trees in the known world. So check it out at American Sport Bike's links and check out a few of the Views here soon.

The Roehr Motorcycle, Available At Glendale Harley

Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale has announced an agreement with Roehr to sell their high-end sport-bike through our dealership.

What is Roehr? Roehr makes the Roehr 1250sc, the fastest and most powerful American production sportbike ever offered. It's a new generation of American motorcycle, designed to take on the world with its 180-hp supercharged version of the 1250cc Harley-Davidson Revolution engine.

It's a great bike, designed for both the road, and track.

Because of our strong commitment to racing, and since the heart of the Roehr is a Harley-Davidson, we thought it appropriate that the bike be offered through Glendale Harley.

The ROEHR is built using the highest quality cycle parts in the industry, featuring a unique, modular bi-metal chassis, Marchesini wheels, Akrapovic mufflers, Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, and can be further modified and customized according to rider preferences. The ROEHR 1250sc, is a uniquely American combination of brawn and beauty.

The bike will be sought after by collectors and riders looking for something very, very special to put in their garage. Base price of the Roehr 1250sc is $59,995.

Stop by the dealership to see it in person! Demo rides only given to very serious prospects.

If anyone is having trouble accessing the "American Sport Bike 2009.........or "OKTOBERFAST RETURNS"......" thread in "Southern California", then try this.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 476482.html?1250603815

I get redirected to the American Sport Bike website when I click on that title. The non American Sport Bike portion of the title is not part of a hypertext link. I am using firefox.

Blake just fixed that. Thanks, Blake!

All you Southern Cal Buellers, there are two relatively new Meetup groups that you may or may not be aware of.

Centered in San Diego, Wolf started the SoCal Buell Riders group, here: http://www.meetup.com/SoCal-Buell-Riders/

The Southern California Area Buellers (SCAB) has been a part of the So Cal Buell scene since 1998 or so, and I've been the keeper of the mail list for about the past 5 years or so. It was all manually administrated and didn't well facilitate communications amongst the entire group. I've now converted that email list into a Meetup group to make things work a little better. I'll phase the old email list out over the next couple months, so if you received messages from me on the SCAB email list, then sign up here if you want to continue to. http://www.meetup.com/Southern-California-Area-Bue llers-SCAB/

Both groups have a fair number of common members. Wolf's group is a bit more San Diego centric, SCAB a little more Orange/LA centric, even though I live in San Diego North County. Wolf and I are going to continue to figure out ways to increase synergies between the two groups.

If you sign up with the defaults, meetup groups can send you LOTS of emails. But there are sign up options to minimize the amount of email you get.

Yup I guess it was just a rumor. A co-worker said they interviewed the owner on NPR and said it was still there but there are still spot fires around.
