Ashley made it to the top on the Blast with a big grin.

That grin says it all!

Sweet, a whole category for us Buellers.

I must of been moving pretty slow, because I looked like I was straight up and down in those pictures.

Kristi,
You guys should put together a Ladies' Ride next year.
I know Ashley would love that.

Wow, I have Post Buelltoberfest Syndrome and I only showed up for a short time Thursday. I had planned to be back on Saturday, but was unable to get away. I will definitely prepare my time better for the next event, even if it is practically in my back yard.
Since I brought it up, was there any progress made towards a possible spring event, and can we expect some info soon about such an event?

Well.

I'm beat.

Cooked.

Dead tired.

My GPS crapped out on the way home (on the BRP, so I "had" to keep on it until I saw something I recognized LOL). Turns out I'd just cornfuzed it by making it recalculate one too many times - once I let the battery run down, a restart took care of it.

500 miles+ today on the ol' Uly.

My ass hurts.

But....WHAT A WEEKEND! : )

I'll post more tomorrow when I'm coherent, have the pics uploaded, and have a shower...but the folks I met, the roads I rode, and the overall vibe of the weekend (some MUCH needed therapy) - what an incredible time. I loved every minute, and every mile, of it.

Pics to come. Good to see I'm on the PhotoReflect page, too. Wheee...I actually *do* have decent form, LOL. : )

Joe, happy to know you made it home safe! Great to meet you, and glad to have been able to share a great weekend like that with you.

Wouldn't do the flip flops even if the temp wasn't in the high 40's.
I had my leathers on underneath.
The PJ's slid really well on the seat aiding side-to-side transitions through the twisties on 129 that morning.

I see a tradition in the making.... The Sunday Morning Pajama Run.
Bring some PJ's next year.

Really cool that you all had such a great time, sounds awesome.
Some great pics on the PhotoReflect site : )

Silly questions - What is "TWO"? Is it an official event, or a place? "Two Wheels Only"?
Is Buelltoberfest an event within the event or something like that?

Hmmm... thinking to self... how do I swindle a trip to the U.S. that starts at Homecoming, then Summerfest, maybe catch a few AMA Pro race rounds then stretches through to Buelltoberfest... : D

T.W.O. is a campground in Suches GA. Two Wheels Only - if you do a web search it'll come up. You have to be on, or be trailering, a motorcycle in order to stay there. Cool place.

Buelltoberfest is it's own event...and it's FUN. Some of the best riding I've done in...well, just about ever. At least, not on a track. Gorgeous scenery, great people...and awesome roads. Holy crap are the roads awesome. The Dragon...paled by comparison to most of the ones around TWO. I have to check my GPS tracks to get names...but wow, just ... wow.

>>>I have to check my GPS tracks to get names...but wow, just ... wow.

I swear I am going to go back and find out WHERE I rode every time I ride those roads . . . . I used to ride them quite a bit when the S3 was in development and they are an absolute hoot. I remember leaving a town once, riding for what seemed like two hours and passing a sign that told me I was only like 9 miles from the town . . . we were going in circles but some of the best circles ever!

Fun stuff!

Ello,

I made it back to Texas last night around 7:30.

What can I say, I had a FANTASTIC time. It was very good to see all those crazy Buellers I hadn't seen in years. I really, really enjoyed my time with you guys and yeah the riding was good, but the fellowship was over the top.

The campfire was stunning (thanks to daPlumber and Paint_Shaker). Rockhead, thanks for the (Oh S H I T) moment with the can of fuel in the fire... LOL~ I don't remember the last time was roasted by a "Superstar" much less Dave Despain.

Thrux (Bill), I owe you one for that ribbing that went on and on and on.....

As for the fellows that followed my Slowride butt all over the N GA mountians, I hope you guys got what you were looking for... good roads at a good pace. I saw triple digits on the Goldwing, lol it was like a B28 being flanked by two F18's with Froggy and ChadHargis on their CR's running up the mountain with me. I actually got to back in the ole girl into a corner or two hot dogging it... yep, backing a goldwing into a corner is definately a pucker moment. I followed another crazy winger around on Friday and I could barely keep up with him (Trialsman). He rides a red wing with yellow accents. He is every bit as good as the famous Yellowolf. I think a few Uly's followed us around that day as well.

All in all it was a great trip. I did get to ride in 2oo miles of rain on my way to Nashville in the dark on Sunday, but the wing just ate it up.

One last note, Most of you were brought up to speed on the accident I witnessed in Meridian, MS. It involved a rider on his 83' Goldwing and a high speed wobble that resulted in him and bike flipping down the highway at 70+ mph.
I received a call from his son last night on the way home.........

Edward Earl Jenkins, 69 of Meridian, MS passed on Sunday.

Edward, God speed.....

Micah - so glad you are home safe and sound.

God Bless you for being a kind man and staying with Edward in his time of need. I'm sure it meant a lot to his family knowing he was not alone while help was on the way. God Speed Edward.

You're a good man Micah. You've got heart bigger than that colossal Goldwing.

On a lighter note... for those that went to The Dragon on Friday,
there are pictures up on US129Photos, ZeePhotos, and Killboy.

Slo...good to meet you, ride with you, and have dinner with you. Always nice to meet a fellow IT geek with a riding fetish.

So sad to hear about the passing of the gentleman you helped. Please give his family regards from all of us. I've been fortunate to never see anyone in that situation, especially a fellow rider. I know it must have been tough for you to go through that. I'll keep his family in my prayers.

It was great seeing the familiar faces and meeting new people.

Micah, thanks for putting the rides together. Sorry to hear about Edward. We are praying for his family.

Chad, you've got to get someone to video you standing on the pegs and riding through the twisties. Looked like you were riding a segway.

It was funny when I met Dave Despain. I didn't know who he was, but the name sounded familiar. Since I don't have cable I don't get to see his program.
When he found out that I was from Iowa he was telling me that he was too. He talked about his broadcasting days while in college but it didn't go anywhere from there. The funny thing was that I just about told him that he had a 'broadcaster's voice'.
He was cooking his dinner so I didn't want to bother him.

Monkey and a football come to mind!

Micah, Sorry to hear about Edward.

That was a fun little run Sunday, eh? I couldn't believe that you actually bent the right under panel! I wish I had been behind you for that show! Blood Mountain is always a special run.

My hat is off to the makers of those Michelin Pilot Road II's. That was so cool riding over the Cherohala nearly as fast as if it were dry. After our break to let traffic go away, was for a while, the first time I rode it the way I do the Dragon.....twist it up in the corners for what it(I)can handle, and back off down the straights to help preserve the driving privileges.

Dave Despain really doesn't feel the love, when I asked his opinion, of the Buell motorcycles. From his answer, and his demeanor, things are not likely to change soon. He stated that he has ridden one Buell(he thought it may have been an early XB), and went into describing heat damage to his leg(not to mention 6'5 isn't an exact fit on a Lightning). I asked if he had ever ridden a Uly, his response was no. He loves those KLR's though. A man of his physical stature, I sure would like to see him mount a 2010 Uly, make a loop on Blood Mountain and Wolf Pen Gap, then come back to the campfire for the same question. But then, with all of the good natured BS and ribbing that went on, knowing he was deep in a Buell crowd, there may have been some leg jerking handed out. Man that would have been a great time to have a Mason Jar handy!

Froggy, thanks for the test ride on your CR, awesome machine, I will have to try again in the daytime and the dry!

Best weekend I have had in years! Thanks, to everyone at Buelltoberfest, and of course the good folks at the layover party!

Hey, that's the way *I* have to sit on a Blast.

Can you imagine the fuel capacity we could have, with only a passenger seat? 70mpg x 6 or 8 gallons...that thing would run ALL DAY between fillups : )
