Got to within 5 miles of home last night after work and ran smack dab into a cloud burst, rain, wind, lightening. Couldn't hardly see out of the visor but when I lifted it up it was like looking full face into a firehose, visor up = drown, visor down = ride blind, visor half open = blind and drowning. Caught up with someone else on a bike and just followed them, figured if I saw their tail light start doing somersaults then I'd just hit the brakes. Soaked to the skin, shoes full of water, got the S2 into the garage and left a canal behind me as I sloshed my way through the house and into the bathroom. Shoes, gloves, jacket, and helmet should be dry by October or so. What a way to finish off the first tank of gas run through the S2 this season.

There's no real trick mike. I did mine on my S3 shortly before I sold it. It made a HUGE handling difference. Mine were SHOT.

I forgot HOW I got the cups out however.

Isn't riding in a T-storm FUN!

I'll have to find my service books for the bearing preload recommendations, I think a spring/fish scale was involved to check bearing tightness.

I've got a bunch of bicycles I'm working on in the garage for myself and others to finish up before I can clear out space to work on the bike. I'm real tempted to do the pcv valve XB style breather conversion at the same time.

Riding home I saw the storm clouds up ahead, wicked up the speed some while watching the southbound traffic looking for windshield wipers going to see when I was about to hit rain. Just as I passed my last exit for any chance to find cover is when the sprinkles started. Less than a half mile later as I started up my offramp is when the deluge started. If I'd of been there 5 minutes earlier I'd have made it home fairly dry. If I'd have got to the prevoius offramp 30 seconds later I would have seen the southbound wipers flying and could have jumped off the freeway and headed for cover for 30 minutes while it passed. I probably needed to wash the bike anyway. ; )

Do you folks have any more rides planned for this season? I really should dig out the M2 and freshen up it's gas too.

is it possible to get a heads up on any rides you guys have planned. I'm not official member of your club, but I know most of you. I haven't done much street riding this year. Hell, I only did one race weekend this year.
I'd like to get a few rides in before the snow flies. If you have to be a Club member, I understand.
Thanks, Rocco

Rocco, I SINCERELY apologize. I thought I had you in our mailing list. But you weren't

You are now.

I'll also start announcing rides on here as well.

Mike, don't worry about the fish scale thing. 38 to 42 Ft/LBS

We don't have any concrete plans for rides at the moment, except the slimey crud run. But I would like to try and squeeze in a ride through the Holy Hill area, and maybe a small Northern Kettle ride as well.

We also have 2 track days planned. September 2nd, and the 23rd.

And we'll be camping down at Blackhawk Farms on the weekend of September 26th when Mowhawk Matt does his racing debut.

Does anyone plan to attend Knucklefest this Labor day weekend in eagle? Let me know, it's just down the road from my place. By the looks of it, it could be fun. Be warned though- If past years experience says anything, it's not a family event. Lots of Booze and half dressed girls. WooHo!!!

The bike ran for the first time in almost a year today!

No test ride yet as there is more reassembly to due, but I am closer.

I know I missed a lot of good riding this year, but this happens some times.

Hope everyone has been enjoying this summer.

Aaron, good to hear!

What was wrong with it?

Hey, you should meet up with us for the slimey crud run!

And you could end the year with a track day! September 23rd, Danny is doing another track day with us.

There was a break in my ground wire to the instrument cluster which cause no power to the gauges. I spliced in at the data link connector and ran a wire back to the main ground. This completed the circuit and powered up the cluster.

The break is in the neck somewhere. I didn't feel like tearing into all of that wiring.

The Crud Run is a definite possibility. The track day is out. Not in the budget this year.

I sent this email out, but just in case there are those of you that aren't receiving them.

Wednesday, September 23rd
Hals sponsored trackday.
Dan Bilansky and Dean Hagman will be our private instructors for this event. There is a small fee involved in having them help us, but IMHO it's worth it.

There are still a few spots available.
Call Bud Curtis at Hals for details.

Thursday, September 24th

Buell/RMR Championship party at the HD Museum.
Hals will be leading a ride down there.
Lets try and meet AT Hals at 4:30, and leave at 5:00

Saturday September 26th

This will be Mohwak Matt's(carparts009 here on badweb) racing debut at Blackhawk Farms.
Practice starts at 8:00AM. But I sure they heck ain't gonna be leaving Hals at 6:30 in the morning. Sorry Matt! : )
Lets meet AT Hals at 8:00AM, be outta there by 8:30AM.
It costs $25 to get in to the track. If you've never been to a small club racing event, it's seriously good fun. Lets get as many people as we can to go down there. Matt will have the biggest pit crew EVER for a rookie! : )

Sunday October 4th

Slimey Crud Run.
Lets meet at the Kwik Trip next to La Duc's custard near the corner of Hwy18 and Hwy83
Meet at 8:00AM, and kickstands up no later than 8:30AM

Keep in mind boys and girls, this is approximately a 300 mile day.

Considering Hals builds the vast majority of the ASRA & CCS Thunderbike engines, I'd tend to trust them : )

They recently finished a 88" for one of our members' 2002 S3T. I got a chance to ride this beast(107HP, 99LB/FT of torque IIRC). Very streetable, runs on pump gas, and that thing pulls like a freight train from 2K on up to redline.
