Before anyone gets too worked up...you guessed it - this bike has been layed down, needs right side replacement parts and will have a branded salvage title. My question for the group and probably mostly Slimdave is what happens to the warranty on a bike that has been down and is sold by the original owner (who couldn't handle it) to a new 2nd owner. Is the Warranty transferable? - even if it was wrecked?

Just realized I screwed up and put this topic in the wrong place - not sure how to fix it. I'll move it if any one can explain how. Sorry about that

Basic warranty would still be active. Anything related to the accident would not be warrantied. As per service department.

Don't worry about posting in the wrong place or trying to move. One of the days I'll convince Blake to give me admin access so I can do some housekeeping!

Contacted the guy looking for more info such as how the bike went down (hi-side or low side, how fast was he going etc. and did he hit anything after it apparently skidded out on its side) Turns out this guy acquired it through a third party of some kind and had no answers to my questions. Warning flags were going up in my mind and I planned to check it over first hand and shoot him a low ball offer yesterday while my wife would be out of town with one of her friends to assist her mother. When my wife asked what I'd be doing while she was away I told her about the $8000+ Buell going for about half price and was going to check it out. She indicated that there better not be another motorcycle in the garage when she got back......or no sex!- for the rest of the year. She could see I was doing the math in my mind (after all there's only 3 months left in the year) for such a trade. Next thing I know my wife's trip is off I end up the the better part of Saturday with her at Costco where she's booked me for an over due eye check up complete with the diolated eye thing- so you guessed it- I could not drive or see sh...t. So, I think I'll have to let this one age a bit ....for now.

Too bad it would possibly have made a good project bike.

I ended up picking up this bike for $2800. It cost me about $700 in parts to get it back on the road. $250 of that was the D&D pipe though.

Before I bought it I had one of my friends who is a Mech at Latus go check it out and make sure there was no frame/fork or any other major damage.

Ran the VIN and found out all recalls had been fixed. And found out it is still under warranty until August 2010.

My first Buell, and I love it
