Hey Guys,
I live in Lugoff and work in West Columbia in the industrial park near the Columbia airport. I hope you get your bike taking care of. I get my bike worked on at TT, all the warranty work.

Hey just send a PM, or post here. Some are free on the weekends. I am working on a chain link fence with my dad right now so a portion of the weekend is taken up right now, but may be able to squeeze time for a ride!!

Coldwind, are you talking about the Enterprise parkway between platt springs rd. and Old barnwell rd.? If so, then we use to just miss each other at times. I grew up just around the corner off Old Barnwell Rd. from that parkway.

I am slowly trying to find a nice route around Lake Murray that is not on all the straight highways, but those are nice 55mph roads. Kinda scenic!

That's right Scbuellkat, you hit the nail right on the head! I work at pbr, right smack in the middle there. I just got my bike back last Sat. for motor warranty work and going through a grueling break in process. I still have about 400 more miles to go to make it 500. I was told to keep it at no higher than 2,500 rpm until then. I call it cruel unusual punishment, I can do some riding after-wards.
Let me know if you want to meet up sometime and see what may work.

Yeah pbr can be seen through the, what use to be woods, from the end of the street I grew up on. Lynn Dr. Man it can be a small world sometimes. I live near the Barnyard Flea Marked off Highway #1 now.

Yeah get that thing broken in again. It sounds like we are starting to be able to get a pretty nice sized group up to ride now. Its getting good!!!

Yeah I'm ready to ride sometime. I may have to head out this friday if I dont have to do any work, or go to work. I normally work 4 10's right now so friday is off unless they need to have people to come in.

Coldwind- I don't know who told you 2,500 RPM max but that's NOT what the owner's manual says (assuming you have a 2007 Uly like your profile says):

If you ride it too easy during break-in you may wind up with an engine that uses oil. The pre-2007 XB's had lower RPM limits and it seems there were a lot of complaints that resulted in the break-in recommendations being changed in 2007.

There are lots of theories on the best way to break in a new engine ("Motoman" being one of the best known) but I sure wouldn't be more conservative than the owner's manual suggests. From all indications, the harder you run it during break-in (within the limits recommended above), the better it will run and the less oil it will use.

Just got back from a little vacation in the Blue Ridge. The girlfriend and I trailered our bikes up to an area outside of Mt Mitchell and rented a cabin for a long weekend. It was an absolutely wonderful trip. We ended up riding around 800+ miles on the Parkway and surrounding roads. I will post some pics when i get a chance. It was a perfect weekend... until we got home. I dropped my bike on its right side getting it out of the back of the truck... I just sat there swearing at myself...

so now i need to get a new right side handle bar, rider foot peg, turn signals, brake lever, and ect...

It made me sick, i couldn't even sleep. I guess that makes up my mind about selling it... And thats one good thing to come out of it... i get to keep it.

Anyways, does anyone know if the right and left individual handle bars on the firebolt are interchangeable? I found one on Ebay, but it says its for the left side.

Same goes for the rider footpeg, interchangeable?

I have the handle bar part #'s for a 2003 firebolt and they are the same. As for a 2008, I am not so sure. N0010.02A8 QTY 2 Clip On Handlebar This is what it says for a 2003. You may need to check on your specific year. This number is for a 2003 XB9R.

As for the pegs, you got me.

Thanks for the info Hughlysses, the service people at Thunder Tower told me to ride that way, and it's in lugging territory making me wonder I am doing more damage than helping. I followed the first break in of not going over 3,000.
Yes it's a Ulysses. What gives now?

Coldwind- glad to pass the info along. That info above is from the owner's manual for my 07 Uly. I can't imagine why a service guy would tell you that; maybe that's what they recommend for big twins?

Ahem...
Mighty Buell's running best ever in little over year I've owned it. Intake manifold seals that live-up to their name: gotta love 'em.

T'Tower gave me two new keys after I gave them a VIN and $26 or so. That's pretty cool and kinda scary, too.

Have a single car garage with a m/c lift, tolerant neighbors, basic hand tools, ECM Spy & cable, and '05XB Service Manual.
Will host a 'tech day' gathering at my house in Greer.
Or, join in a group ride.
Calendar open @ weekends 9/11, 9/18, 9/25.

Scbuellkat, can't go, have the kids that weekend and may be on second shift maybe starting next week.
I may be riding my bike in tomorrow but don't like the looks of the weather. Are you going the be around for a possible meet up? Perhaps around 3:00 PM near the plant? Let me know if you can.

I will be around. The weather is looking like 60% rain tomorrow as of 12 noon today. I got to run to TTHD and see about some stuff for the bike for the 15K service. I'm trying to figure out what plugs to go with. Not sure. Probably just what is on it.

If the weather holds out, I can ride over there. I just dont feel like getting my back wet, but I may.

Hey I know what that 2nd shift crap is like. I work from 3pm to 1:30 am now at Square D. The hours suck, but fridays off and the mornings to do things is kinda nice with the exception of not being able to see my wife till the weekends, that sucks.

If you got a way to get to the internet tomorrow, post and let me know if you rode and we can meet up. Anywhere on the Industrial park is fine with me. Dont expect me if it is raining like crazy!

Yeah, doesn't look too good for today, driving cage in today.
As for spark plugs I had been using the Buell pro plugs and like them, bike seems to work better with them too.
I have a smart phone and check messages often. I'll send you my email and phone number if you can text, text would be great.
Check your private message, I sent them there.

Well 92 degrees tomorrow, and a 20% chance for a storm or two. I think I am going to get out in the afternoon and ride since the wife will be busy. Probably around 2 or 3pm. I know it will be kinda warm but I want to ride!!

Anyone is welcome..... Post or PM or call....

Yeah I kinda figured unless you wanted to make a long trip and just happen to swing by on your way around the state!!

If we rode for 2 hours around this area you could be home by 7!?!

Matt that bites about the tire. I got an approx. 3/16" allen wrench in my rear tire of my car this summer. That was a treat. I know how you feel with that kind of issue.

I figure I may head to TTHD and stop in around 3pm if anybody wants to ride. I may just run some roads through columbia and maybe the Lake Murray area out towards Ballentine/Whiterock area.

Demarisco if you have the time, come out and ride with me and if you havent been to that area, then I can show you it. It may be kinda straight roads, but there should be some on and off ramps to catch on the way if traffic isnt too bad. Unless you have too much fun riding your bike in the morning. It kinda can be addictive to stay on the bike though. I should be up and moving around by 9 am.

I will check in here in the morning after I wake up and then again around noon and before I head out. Hopefully someone will have time to head out.

Well I only got to talk with Coldwind. I saw a bike in the parking lot like Demarsico's cherry bomb xb9. We parked beside it and never saw anyone come by it. We talked for about 2 hrs while we watched the Buell Demo's riding in and out of the TTHD area. The demo's are there the 29th and 30th. I however knew better than try and ride one because I would try and find a way to get one. It was very tempting though.

It looked like there was one group of riders of about 10 to 12 and they went on 3 demo rides while I was there.

I left at 5pm from TTHD and went home. It was kinda hot, but the air was still good feeling while moving.
