Just got back from Max Speed in K-Ville.
They had the Diablo in stock. $208 mounted and balanced. Wheel was on the bike, added $10 to the mounting.

My first bike, a KAW 440LTD, I got 16K miles out of the first tires.

I got a rear for my Firebolt at Max Speed a few weeks ago and was very happy with the place- they even met the prices I'd found online!

Fish- we gotta meet up one of these days when I'm not busy as hell- I live in Kernersville.

This Sunday AM is a possible for me. So long as the weather cooperates.
A friend lives in k-ville too. He's on a blue SV650. Went out with him a couple weeks ago on the 65/89/66 loop.

Max seems like a nice little shop. Fast service too. I might have to go there for scheduled service rather than the dealer. Warranty doesn't say service has to be done by HD.
Those "Shark" modular helmets are sick. Big $$$.

Got a chance to ride again tonight. Sucks that we run out of daylight so much earlier now. Still got to work on my right turns, but having a great time!

hey jim, I was thinking of ordering the uly right side scoop. Brett told me he put it on yours. Did it make a difference with the fan running on the highway? is it worth it? Its pretty cheap.

Stars, you own a Uly now?

I think for the fan behavior to be different, you have to get the ECM reflashed. I'm not clear if they have new flashes for every year, or just the 08+ models.

I do notice that the fan is more quiet. I think there is less leg heat, though to be honest, I haven't ridden it in conditions where the heat would be bothersome.

I've still got the 12s. I ordered the uly scoop today. Only because the uly scoop because its much larger then the 2010 lightnings scoop.

Stars, on my rides out to Wilson and back from g'boro, the return trip is a but more toasty in the seat. Seems to vary quite a bit. If I stop at exit 273 on 40 on the return to rehydrate, the seat cools quickly and doesn't heat up much more the remainder.
Spec Ops has some nice under seat heat shields too. I may go that route.

Nice grill work on the 2010 Blast.

Although this last pic isn't from VIR, I thought Carlee might like to see what I found out back behind work Tuesday afternoon.

The leg span was about the size of a nickel, and since you can clearly see it's underbelly it was no longer alive. I found another one, albeit live, nearby where I found this one a little over a year ago.

Very interesting. Uly seat on an Ss. Same frame as the Uly so it is probably no a big deal to fit it on there. But it does mess up the lines.
If it an easy thing to do, I could see swapping it in and out if I have a need for a longer 2up ride. My 13 year old is over 6' now and even his young knees get sore after an hour on the back of my Ss.

Does anybody else ever have trouble with the idle on their XB?

I've been tweaking my fuel/spark maps since I switched back to the stock exhaust a few weeks ago. On Monday the bike seemed to be getting hotter than usual while idling in traffic, so I thought I might have the idle set a bit too lean. I added some fuel to the idle and other low-end cells to try to cool things down a bit in stop-and-go traffic. The bike ran ok on Wednesday morning, but when leaving work the bike was running a bit rough. It was idling lower than usual and wanted to stall. I thought maybe I had added too much fuel, so I pulled some out of the idle cells that night. On Thursday the bike was still idling low, down around 700-800rpm and stumbling around. It stalled 2-3 times while idling in the driveway while putting on my gear and the throttle response was sluggish. It ran fine once it was fully warmed up. When leaving work it was doing the same thing, idling 700-800rpm and stalling a few times while I put on my gear.

I figured I had upset something on the fuel maps, so last night I installed the 2007 fuel/spark maps, set the AFV to 100% and reset the TPS. This morning the bike started fine idled at ~1000rpm, but stalled a few seconds later. I started it again and it tried to idle at 1000rpm for a few seconds, but then started to stumble and stall again. After a few minutes of warming up the bike still has trouble holding idle, but after being ridden for 20-30 minutes it seems to idle at ~1000rpm just fine.

Reading my own synopsis, I'd guess that I have an intake leak, fouled plugs, or possibly a flaky TPS sensor. However, I've had this problem before and I've seen it go away without fixing any of those things. I had the same symptoms persistently when trying to use the race ECM on my bike back in '03. It would run ok when the ECM was first installed, but after a few days it would degrade and the bike would refuse to idle well unless fully warmed up. I eventually gave up on using the race ECM, which is why it sat in a box in my garage for the last few years. I later ran into the problem when running the Dobeck TFI. I never could figure out if it was from making it richer or leaner, but occasionally after adjusting the low speed pot on the TFI the bike wouldn't idle well until fully warmed up. I'm wondering if this may not be as simple as being too rich or too lean, but perhaps some other condition of combination of conditions that causes the bike not to run well at idle and at low speed.

Luddy, all I can say is good luck. As much as I like the DDFI for the fuel mileage it helps us get, it is a pain to sort out sometimes.

We had another good ride tonight. We probably rode 65 miles or so. Right hand turns were better, but I'm having issues with finding false neutrals, alot! Guess I just need to smack it a little harder. I loose my momentum and then have to speed like hell to catch Carlos. Each day it's a new lesson!

UW, wear thick leather boots. Then you won't worry about hitting it too hard.
I had surgery on my shifting foot 16 months ago. Had my big toe cut off and screwed back on. I must admit I was concerned that shifting might hurt a little. But not at all.
Before the surgery it would have. I could not take pressure on the joint at all.
So yes. Smack it a little harder. Work that front calf muscle.
And next year buy a XB12Scg.

Rather than smacking it, try holding it up or down for about 1/2 second. That seems to work for me.
