We missed you S1! Sunday the 21st is our monthly ride. I just saw the weather forecast and it is looking good. Might have to get out Sat too!

Kim, are you up to an afternoon ride Sat? I need to get some things done here in the morning but would like to get out for a few miles.

Loni- not sure that I will be feeling well enough to go and do any riding by Saturday. I have been very sick this week and still trying to work on top of it. I would love to ride, but it might not be such a great idea. I'll keep you posted.

I have the same thing Kimberlie, and it sucks. I tried to go out and work on the bike today anyways though and ran into a snag. I didn't know about a tool I apparently need to do the clutch job. I forgot to bring the manual back home with me today and now I cant think of the proper name of it...lol..anyways it is to compress the spring I guess? I am replacing all of the clutch plates, well attempting to anyways. Anyone have one of these, or something that will work like it?

Shotgun any chance you have done your own clutch?

Thanks in advance S1

S1,check out the knowledge vault,I thought there was a way to do it without the special tool.

Hey,Stuart do you still need that swingarm block--I saw one on E-Bay.

S1 - I have the clutch spring tool and you can borrow it if I can find it. Clutch is not very hard to replace.

Do you have a manual.

Kim give me a call! We could find some twistys for you I am sure. You might have to stop and wait for me a few times but it would be cool to get out and do some riding with you. I figure I will be done here at the house around 1ish, maybe sooner, so call anytime. I'm glad you are feeling better now. Tell Mike next time it's your turn to go pick up the parts!

Got a call from Jim at Columbia Harley-Buell, he has my XB problem solved. The ECM was bad. He replaced it with a race ECM and it is looking good. Their Dyno is down til next week, so he's gonna keep it til then to Dyno-tune it with the Power Commander to optimize it. He says everybody who hears it wants that Force exhaust.

S1 Wholigan, I used to have a Sporty clutch spring compression tool but I sold it w/the Sportster. Glad to hear Roc has one. It is a simple tool, but much easier to do the job with it than having to jury rig something.

Hey Gootch, how close is Betty to running?

Anybody in the Portland area Sunday, meet at Destination at 10:00 AM for a group ride.

Shotgun, Chris and I are planning on being there! If I go ride with Kim today I might hit the 500 mile marker, and if not today tomorrow for sure. Then I will have to get it up to NW H-D for the 500 mile check up, and a short visit with Bob and Deb! 5,000 is my goal by the end of the riding season this year! : ) Have a nice day everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

OK, just got the latest info on Betty. It was a congenital defect, something that came from the Factory. The cases aer mis-aligned. This pushed both rods over, causing them to bind on their up and down ride. Eating and beating the rod bearings and that other motherfucker they had to order the race for. Soooooo, it's good to know that it wasn't from excessive speed...well it wouldn't have been if the shit lined up right anyway!
So now my great good friend Stu is 'communicating' with the Mother Company about possible resolution of this dealio. It IS their fault, but it's out of warranty, don't ya know. So here I sit, broken hearted. Thought the bitch was commin' home today. I even changed the sheets, fer christ's sake.
So have fun in the sun, you smilin' bastards. Betty should be back by the time the snow fly's...

sooner, Galen

Galen, it's good to know what the problem is/was. Is it repairable? Or is it a doomed motor then?

Thanks a bunch Roc. where are you located? Do you guys think I should get the tool and do it myself, or would you just pay someone $90 to do it? If the bike was at my house I would just do it, but I would have to drive all the way out to mollala and back which adds a lot of time and effort. I have a guy who is down in that area who can do it, he will even go and pick it up. Do the repair and return the bike for $90...sounds pretty good to me?

It is sure a nice day for you all to be out doing the ride. Wish I could have been there. with the fractured spine and all...lol but the clutch was to bad to ride it any further.

Hey Spudman, I saw you going south on 217 down by HWY10 the other day. I think it was like 2:00pm..

I saw someone by my house on a black XB also, with a female passanger.

S1 - I'm on Walker road in Beaverton, by the Nike complex. I found the spring compressor/cluth tool and I doubt I will need it for at least a month - let me know.

$90 seems good, considdering he will pick up and drop off. Is he reputable? What if he makes a mistake.

If you are thinking about doing it yourself: do you have a shop manual and are you sure it is the clutch?

Hey Kimberlie and Mike. Are you still OK with me keeping that handlebar thingie and sending you some cash to get another. It was so darned handy I should've just said yup at the time. A cheque will be in the mail.
STILL waiting for the paperwork before I can ride. Had a very vivid dream about riding the S2 last night. Interestingly, the dream ended with me thinking it needed SE cams! LOL!
And, watching eBay for parts, having just missed a V&H slip-on, I jumped on the next one to come up, with a first (and so far winning) bid. Then looked at more stuff to realize there were two the same, with only the ending date different, and I'm on the one that closes four days later than the other. DOH!

Kim, That was funny! Glad now that I hang out at the track and ride too! Sorry we missed Mike yesterday! Had a good day. 8 of us left Dest H-D at 10 and rode 300 miles. Did not get home until 6:30, butt was numb, and tired as hell, but it felt good to get out enjoy the day.
