Cool, Dyna is in.

Most target loads are 7-1/2 or 8 shot. (FYI for everybody, target loads are about ~$4.00 a box of 25 shells)

I haven't tried sporting clays myself, but I definitely want to. What it is, is a course of simulated hunting stations. There are several stations on a course and the clays come from all different directions, some even come rolling across to simulate a rabbit. I have heard that it can be quite fun and exciting.

Blastin...Whatcha want to know about pheasant hunting in Old Iowa? I lived there for two seasons in the mid 70's and got my limit every weekend. Same goes for rabbit and squirrel (Tree Rat).

The wife of the day was really into wildlife cooking and we had a great time until one day she finally made a CHICKEN that tasted like a RABBIT. Yuck!!! I was ready for some Col. Sanders and ended up with something funky.

Sporting clays are fun. We used to go to a couple different ranges.

Ride to the edge!
Pretty good shot too!

We used to have a sportings clay facility at the golf club I managed. We also had pheasant and chucker hunting. The sporting clays were a great time. Unfortunately, there's much more money to be made in golf than shooting. The hunting fields and clays range are now a golf course.

Nev....they probably rent guns. Most good places will have them available.

All....the best gun to use is a 12 gauge over/under. You need to be able to make 2 shots very quickly. If you don't have an over/under, a side by side will work almost as well. A pump action is definately a disadvantage.

Have fun!!!

I have gone shooting once, handgun. If I can fit it in the schedule, I wouldn't mind doing it again. I'd have to borrow a shotgun but I think I know someone who might lend me one.

I believe Blastin is referring to the McMiller range which is just south of Old World Wisconsin.

Have shot rifle and pistol there. Is a leased operation on DNR land. If I remember correctly they sell targets and some ammo. However, I do not recall them renting guns. Historically, I have only found rentals available at the indoor pistol ranges. Will call and check.

Daves is spot on with the over'n'under being the best for shotgun target sports. I prefer the semi-auto's compliments of my military training. The only disadvantage is picking up the brass. Then again, I could use the exercise. LOL

If anyone is looking for a used firearm or accessories, the next gun show at State Fair Park is scheduled for April 23-25. There may be one at the Waukesha Expo before then, but I don't have their schedule. Take cash and barter. Don't know about long guns, but if you buy a pistol on what is called a "Private Party" sale, there is no paperwork or waiting period.

Lastly, I don't know the intricacies of Wisconsin Law, but in California could legally carry a gun on a bike in a locked case. Pistols were the easiest as we packed them empty in a locked gun rug in a locked tank or tail bag with the ammo in another locked bag. Long guns were carried in a locked case either slung over your shoulder or mounted to the bike. It worked but you felt like a dork riding in traffic with the long gun as everyone looked at you quite strangely.

Nev,
It was Lake that likes the over/unders.
I prefer a good ole fashioned side by side myself.
I have 3 of them, along with a couple pump guns. Use the side by sides for most of my bird hunting.

Ride to the edge!

Dave...The over/under is my preference for trap/sporting clays. I'd rather shoot a side by side when hunting birds. Any other hunting, I use a pump.

Nev...The range we had rented guns. So did a couple of other places I've visited.

I prefered a shorted pump . . . pistol grip only at one end, and just past the mag on t'other . . .. and, of coure, I never, ever EVER loaded it with flechette rounds, did I?

Dave & Dennis...Thanks for straighten me out on the who said what and the gun rental issue.

Bomber...You are home now and the little clay pigeons neither shoot back nor require that kind of fire power. LOL

Question...

Any suggestions on where to go to get longer throttle, brake and clutch lines made locally?

Am planning to swap handlebars for a something a little wider and higher on the X1 and probably will need to have at least one of them made longer.

The following pics of the Yamaha MT-03 will give you an idea of the look I am trying to accomplish.

Incidentally, Recommendations concerning what size bar to use on an X1 would be greatly appreciated as well.

Hi All...

Just got off the phone with BRAG National. I had a nice conversation with a very polite gentleman but am underwhelmed to report that for us locals that can only make one or two events, it is all or nothing.

In essence, you have to pay the same $75 registration fee regardless if you only participate in one dinner.

I found this a little disturbing as even HDI made daily passes available for the Harley 100th Anniversary Homecoming in 2003.

Oh well, Looks like I and perhaps a few others will be "Brown Baggin' It" and waiting outside to meet up with y'all afterwards.

In preparation for the summer and to try to make sure it doesn't get cancelled again, how many people here would like to go on the wildcat mountain trip?
This year we were talking about getting numbers early and getting pre-pays because last year less people said they wanted to go because they couldn't fit it in and people slowly dropped off near the end.

Tom...I trust you also sent this to the membership via email. As I mentioned before, most of your members (well, at least the one's you had last year) don't follow the BWB but do manage to get email sometimes maybe.
